“She is hinting that she is in an abandoned warehouse in a remote place. Go and investigate immediately when and where Isabella was last seen in the city center!”
Right away, as expected of the assistant’s efficiency, he soon found out that the last place where Isabella appeared was outside a restaurant, and she disappeared when passing a corner. It was probably at that time that she was kidnapped.
The kidnappers were so clever that they left no clues. Andrew focused on the cars that appeared and investigated which ones were heading towards the suburbs.
“Mr. Klein, are we really leaving Corbett out?” asked the assistant.
Andrew’s eyes darkened. “Don’t worry. I have a plan.”
In the warehouse, Isabella glanced at Dora, who looked much more relaxed at the moment.
“It seems you are sure Andrew will save me,” Isabella said.
Dora snorted coldly. “You are his fianc?e and a member of the Patton family. If he doesn’t save you, the Patton family will definitely not let him go.”
“You are so smart. No wonder you were able to marry into the Klein family,” Isabella praised Dora. “So, why did you allow Corbett to do those things and become who he is now?”
“What’s so strange about it? There are always these cheats in the business world. Everyone does such things. Even Andrew has done a lot of those things. You are just so naive.”
“Oh, I see. But it seems that Corbett is not good at playing tricks. He was seen through every time,” Isabella commented.
Her words made Dora feel embarrassed and annoyed at the same time. “Shut up! If you continue talking nonsense, don’t blame me for being harsh!” Dora was still very anxious.
After all, she believed that as long as Andrew released Corbett, they could make a comeback. At the thought of Andrew, she snorted inwardly. If she had an opportunity in the future, she would find a way to get rid of Andrew.
Time passed quickly. It had already been ten minutes. Dora paced back and forth anxiously. “What is Andrew doing? Why hasn’t Corbett called yet?”
“Don’t worry. He doesn’t live in the police station, so it will take him some time,” Isabella said.
Dora noticed there was no trace of nervousness or fear on Isabella’s face. She couldn’t help frowning. “Are you so sure Andrew will save you?” How could Isabella not be afraid at all?
“Aren’t you sure, too? Well, I don’t want to die, so I have to trust him!” Isabella looked very innocent when she said this.
Dora knew her words made sense, but she still felt something was wrong. Other women would definitely feel scared even if they knew someone would come to save them, right? Isabella was really strange.
However, at this moment, Dora had no time to care about Isabella’s behavior. She took out her phone and called Andrew.
“Has Corbett been released? I haven’t arrived at the police station yet?” Andrew replied indifferently.
“What? What time is it now? What’s taking you so long?” Dora was obviously displeased. “You still have five minutes. If Corbett doesn’t call me, I will cut one of Isabella’s hands.”
“Don’t worry. Rest assured, Corbett will call you,” Andrew said firmly.
Dora breathed a sigh of relief.
Three minutes after her phone call with Andrew, Dora kept looking at her phone, waiting for Corbett’s call. Upon seeing the anxious look, Isabella asked leisurely, “Dora, aren’t you afraid that Andrew will come here to save me directly?”
“Humph! How can he possibly come here in such a short time?” Dora was not a fool. The warehouse was an hour’s drive from the city center, and she had only given Andrew fifteen minutes.
When fifteen minutes passed, she would leave this place with Isabella. Dora looked at Isabella contemptuously. “Don’t expect him to come here and save you.” Isabella just looked at Dora without saying anything.
Fifteen minutes were almost up. Dora became even more anxious.
“It seems that Andrew doesn’t care about you that much.” Dora sneered at Isabella. “In that case, I’ll have to cut off one of your hands now.”
She waved her hand, and the bodyguards stepped forward. Isabella’s eyes darkened.
Suddenly, Dora’s phone rang. Isabella immediately said, “Check your phone. It might be a call from the police station.”
Dora was pleasantly surprised. She quickly answered her phone and heard a cold voice. “Open the door.” She felt confused. But before she could react, the warehouse door was kicked open, and Andrew appeared with his subordinates. Dora’s eyes widened in disbelief. How did he manage to come here in such a short time? But when she looked outside and saw a helicopter, she immediately understood.
It turned out that Andrew used a helicopter to rescue Isabella.
“‘Go get Isabella,” Dora immediately ordered the bodyguards. But to her surprise, Isabella, tied to a pillar, suddenly stood up. Her hands were freed from the chains.
Dora’s eyes widened in shock again, especially when she saw the smile on Isabella’s face. Isabella said, “Dora, your game is over.”
What was going on? Did Isabella free herself from the chains? When did she do it? Why didn’t Dora notice it? Had she just been waiting for this moment?
“‘Catch her!” Dora shouted, her voice urgent.
Even though Isabella had skillfully gotten rid of the chains, escape was impossible. The bodyguards surrounding them were all highly trained ex-special forces.
As Dora’s command echoed, she was swiftly subdued by a man sent by Andrew. Struggling against him, she screamed, “Don’t bother saving me! Get Isabella!”
Dora no longer cared about her own safety—her mind only focused on Corbett; he had to be saved, no matter what. Her eyes gleamed with desperation.
As long as her men captured Isabella, she could break free from Andrew’s control. Dora watched as the bodyguards sprinted towards Isabella. But in one fluid motion, Isabella spun around and delivered a powerful kick, sending one of them flying. Her movements were so quick and precise that Dora barely registered what had happened before the guards lay scattered on the floor, groaning in pain. Andrew’s men immediately moved forward, restraining them.
Dora, shaking with rage, snarled, “Damn you all! Do you think you can stop me? If I’m going down, we all are!” Suddenly, a countdown began.
Everyone froze, eyes widening in terror. There was a bomb. Dora had lost all reason.
Isabella’s heart pounded in her chest. She hadn’t expected Dora to go this far. Without a second thought, she grabbed Andrew by the arm, pulling him toward the exit.
“Do you really think you can leave?” Dora’s voice dripped with malice. “You made me suffer, and if I’m going to die, I’ll make sure I take you all with me!” She let out a crazed laugh that echoed through the warehouse. Her laughter was unnerving—she had truly lost her mind.
But to Dora, death meant nothing if she could take them down with her.
Suddenly, the window burst open and a shadowy figure darted in.
Dora’s momentary surprise turned into a frown. Who was this intruder? The warehouse was seconds from destruction. Why would someone break in now?
Her eyes narrowed as the figure moved swiftly, pulling out a pair of scissors. Shock rippled through her as she locked eyes with the intruder. She hadn’t anticipated this. The night had been full of surprises, yet Dora had been certain her plan was foolproof. Who could have predicted someone would come to disarm the bomb at the last moment?
Was it really that easy to disarm?
As she pondered, the countdown halted abruptly. The silence that followed was deafening.
Overwhelmed, Dora fainted.
Isabella watched the mysterious figure who, having disarmed the bomb, now slipped away as quickly as he had appeared.
“Let’s go,” said Andrew, gripping Isabella’s hand firmly. They hurried out of the warehouse and into a waiting luxury car. Once safe, Andrew inspected Isabella, his gaze darkening at the sight of a bruise on her face. “Her end is near,” he growled, his voice low and dangerous.
“I’m fine,” Isabella reassured, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. “I just can’t figure out who the man that disarmed the bomb was. Why would someone just appear out of nowhere to help us?”
“I’ll have someone look into it,” Andrew responded, his tone serious. “Whoever he is, he’s clearly capable, but he didn’t seem intent on harming us.”
Isabella nodded, still deep in thought. “Alright.” After a moment of reflection, a sudden thought struck her. Could it have been her who helped them?
Meanwhile, the mysterious man in black perched on a tree branch after leaving the warehouse. With a whistle, a white pigeon swiftly approached.
He carefully tied a small note to the bird’s leg, stroking its feathers gently before sending it off. The pigeon vanished into the inky black sky.
An hour later, Milly stood on her balcony, gazing quietly at the small white dot approaching through the night. She extended her hand, and the pigeon gracefully landed on her palm. Gently, she untied the note and unfolded it, revealing nothing but a blank piece of paper. It seemed everything had gone as planned.
Milly set the paper aflame, watching it disintegrate into ashes.
Earlier, Milly’s friend had discovered that Isabella had been kidnapped. Concerned, he had asked Milly if she should help. Knowing that if anything happened to Isabella, Howard would be devastated, Milly agreed and asked her friend to assist. Now, she owed her friend a favor.
The next day, news of Dora’s arrest spread.
Isabella suggested they turn her over to the police, fearing Andrew’s methods would be far harsher than any legal punishment.
At that moment, as he read the headlines online, his heart sank with shock and grief.
“‘Dora was arrested? What did she do?”
