“Why do you think so?” Isabella was caught off guard. Did he know something?

“Because only bad people are taken to the police station,” the boy muttered, his lips trembling as he fought back tears.

Isabella said softly, “They did make mistakes, but their love for you is strong. They’ll return after they’ve corrected their errors this time.”

Tears streamed down the boy’s cheeks.

“Isabella!”

Hearing her name called urgently, Isabella exited the car and saw Andrew approaching quickly. He reached her and embraced her warmly.

Isabella caught the familiar scent of him. “Is everything settled? Did everything go well for you?”

“Yes, thanks to you. At just the right moment, the live stream went viral, and everyone saw it,” Andrew clung to Isabella tightly.

Isabella smiled and gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “You always have your strategies. I know even if I didn’t intervene, you would be fine. Corbett is no match for you after all.”

Indeed, even without the live stream, Corbett couldn’t take over the company.

Yet, Isabella’s intervention had certainly smoothed the path.

Andrew gradually relaxed his embrace and said, “You’ve made things easier. That’s why you are my lucky star.”

“You’re my lucky star, too. You’ve been a great help, and I just did something little in return.”

“Where’s the child?” Andrew inquired.

“He’s in the car. His parents are in jail, so I need to take him back to his hometown.”

“Alright, let’s do that together. Then we can visit my grandpa,” Andrew said.

They drove the boy to his hometown. Upon arrival, Isabella met the boy’s grandmother, a woman who seemed very kind.

Isabella provided them with food and some money. The deeds of the child’s parents were wrong, but the child was blameless.

When Isabella got in the car, about to leave, the boy tearfully waved. “Goodbye, Isabella!”

Feeling a pang of sadness, Isabella said, “Be a good boy and take care of your grandma. I’ll visit you when I can.”

“Okay, Isabella. I’ll miss you,” the boy responded before turning away.

Noticing his trembling shoulders, Isabella realized he was crying. It saddened her, considering the time they had spent together and his endearing nature. Holding her in his arms, Andrew said, “He’s really sweet. We should come to see him more often.”

“That sounds good. Now, let’s go see your grandpa.”

Isabella was anxious about Damari.

At the hospital, in the deluxe VIP suite, Damari had just woken up. He looked alright, though still weak.

As soon as Andrew and Isabella arrived, Andrew quickened his pace and asked with evident concern, “Grandpa, you’re awake. How do you feel? What did the doctor say?”

Andrew’s anxious expression clearly showed his deep care for Damari.

Damari gave Andrew’s hand a comforting pat and said kindly, “I’m fine. It’s normal for someone my age to face health issues. How are you holding up?”

“I’m alright.”

“Nonsense. I already know about their attempts to force you to step down. It’s disgraceful.”

Andrew’s eyes flashed with a steely glint, and his tone became frosty.

Seeing this, Isabella could tell that Damari was concerned for Andrew. Damari reminded her of Celia—Celia had been kind to her in the past. Without her, Isabella might not have survived her time with the Chapman family.

Sadly, Celia was no longer alive. Now, with Damari still here, Isabella felt compelled to ensure he stayed alive longer. The world needed more good people like him instead of letting the wicked prevail.

“Isabella resolved the issue for me,” Andrew said, looking affectionately at Isabella.

Damari smiled and said, “Isabella is truly our lucky charm. Thank you, dear.”

“Damari, we’re family. You’re welcome.”

“Since you two have been together for some time, have you thought about getting married?” Damari asked suddenly.

Andrew was taken aback, but happiness flickered in his eyes. He truly wished to marry, though it might be premature. Nowadays, many young women preferred to delay marriage. Sensing Isabella might need time to think, he said, “It’s okay. There’s no rush. We can whenever you’re ready.”

Isabella looked from Andrew to Damari.

With a gentle tone, Damari said, “You are young, and I understand if you’re not ready for marriage, but as for me, I’m old. Sadly, I may not be around forever, but it would comfort me to know you are together.”

“Grandpa!” Andrew responded, his voice tinged with frustration. “We’re close to a breakthrough with the medication. It won’t be long now.”

Damari soothed him and said, “I know you’re doing your best. But life is unpredictable. I just hope there’s always someone by your side.”

This concern was partly because Andrew had been orphaned young, which made him withdrawn and sometimes harsh. Although he managed to appear composed and courteous, beneath that exterior, he could be unforgiving and severe. While Damari was alive, he could moderate Andrew’s harsher traits. However, without him, there was a fear that Andrew’s darker side might dominate, leading him to become even more severe and possibly more violent.

Isabella said softly, “Damari, I’ll talk it over with my family. I care deeply for Andrew, and we plan to stay together forever.”

She grasped Andrew’s hand, reinforcing her commitment in front of Damari.

Damari’s eyes gleamed with contentment. “Good, it’s comforting to see you so happy together!”

Their pleasant conversation was interrupted by a voice at the door. “Damari!” Jada and Mara entered the room. Jada looked worn, her eyes slightly red. “Damari, I didn’t think I’d return to find you unwell. I rushed here as soon as I got the news. How are you now?”

“I’m alright,” Damari responded coldly to Jada. “You needn’t have bothered to come. I’m aware of my own condition.”

Mara interjected worriedly, “This is your first time in the hospital, Damari. Jada was so anxious when she heard. She hasn’t been able to visit you for years. She just got back from overseas and was planning to see you, but then this happened. She even made soup for you, hoping it would help improve your health!”

As she spoke, Mara placed the soup on the bedside table. Damari glanced at the soup and said indifferently, “Jada is so nice.”

“Yes. She always misses you,” Mara said. “By the way, how are you?”

“I’m fine. I feel much better now.”

Jada said, “Damari, I happen to have nothing to do today, so I have plenty of free time. I can keep you company.” She looked at Damari with concern. If people who didn’t know her saw her like this, they would definitely think she was Damari’s granddaughter.

But before Damari could reply, Andrew said slowly, “I’m here, so I don’t think my grandpa needs you.” It seemed that Jada had only just noticed Andrew.

“Isabella, you’re here too! I’m just worried about Damari. He was very nice to me before, and I haven’t visited him for years. Now that I finally have time to accompany him, I want to make the most of it. Besides, are you busy with work? It’s okay; I can stay here.”

Andrew was about to say something when Damari suddenly spoke up, “The company should be a bit unstable now. Andrew, you can return to the company.”

“Isabella, with Andrew,” he added.

Since it was an order from Damari, Andrew could only comply.

When the two left, Jada was very attentive to Damari. She took good care of him for a while before going out to buy him some food. Outside the ward, the doctor was surprised to see her. “Hello, Jada! You’re back. Are you here to visit Mr. Klein?”

Since it was a high-end hospital, most patients were from noble, rich, and powerful families. They often went there for medical treatment, so the doctors could easily recognize them.

Jada nodded and smiled at the doctor. “Long time no see.”

“You and Andrew should be getting married soon, right?” the doctor asked enviously. “Ah, when is the wedding day?” The questions wiped the smile off Jada’s face.

“You’re not?” the doctor asked, obviously surprised. Jada lowered her head. “While I was away, Andrew met someone else. She is his girlfriend now. Although she’s from the countryside, she is also excellent. She and Andrew are perfect for each other.”

What? Andrew’s girlfriend was from the countryside? Disgust instantly filled the doctor’s eyes. Andrew was a sophisticated man. How could he fall for a woman like her?

Although that woman was from the countryside, she must be scheming. Jada was from the Riggs family. She was the best match for Andrew.
