But she was not a weak girl who was afraid of dying. She remembered Victor driving so fast that she nearly had a heart attack. That day, he told her that she should overcome her fear of death.
She realized that both Alphas took her lightly. They thought she was a fragile woman whom they could twist at any time. But she was not that vulnerable. At least, to herself, she was not.
She took a deep breath and replied to Bryan,
“Do you think you can kill me? What if the situation turns the other way, and I will kill you?”
Bryan’s eyes were on the road, but he could feel the cold tone in her voice.
His smirk faded as if he did not expect that reply from her.
“You can’t kill me,” he muttered as he drove the car.
She scoffed at him. “Why not? You can think of killing me, and I will let you go.”
After a little silence, he mumbled in a low tone,
“Did you really think I would kill you? I was just…”
He did not continue, as if he were thinking about something. He went silent, and the entire car became quiet.
“You were just kidding? I thought you were so scared about the wedding that you really planned it,” Sophia said, turning her head to Bryan.
His eyes were fixed on his side profile. He was a man of good looks and power. However, he was not a good person. He was driven by a desire for power. He desired more power than he possessed. For power, he could do anything. So his killing her did not seem like a big deal to her.
“If I wanted, I could have killed you two years ago,” he muttered.
“I told you to kill me that night. But you chose to let my throat go. You thought, Why not have a wife and a mistress together? This world is really strange. A man can have so many women if he gains some power. But women can’t do that.”
Bryan chuckled as if he found her words amusing. “So you want to do that? Do you plan to have another man besides your husband if you become Luna?”
Sophia was stunned. She was about to say no, but then she laughed sarcastically and replied,
“Of course not. My man is enough for me. But if my future husband had been an Alpha like you, I would have done that for sure.”
Bryan accelerated the speed of the car. Sophia looked at the road and did not say anything else.
She wondered where he was taking her.
It was a way to the forest, where most of the time people ended up being caught by rogues and never came back. Did he plan to throw her to the rogues?
Her gaze swept the two sides of the road. She could see the dark forest. She was confused as to why he chose to go there.
She pulled out her phone when she began to feel that something was not right. She believed there would be no networks available here. Surprisingly, all the networks were fine. She could call anyone for help if she needed it.
She felt relieved and closed her eyes to calm herself down.
As the car entered the forest and began to descend, she immediately sat up straight.
The car drove through the forest for a while before coming to a stop in front of a large wooden house.
Sophia parted her lips as she was shocked to see such a beautiful house inside the forest.
The house looked bigger than her house. Around the greenery, its wooden black color could catch anyone’s attention.
She could see small fountains used as decorations outside the house. They resembled small mushrooms, and the beautiful white marbles were boiling in the water.
She was in awe as she stared at the house.
She was so lost that she had no idea when Bryan got out of the car and came to open the door beside her.
He extended his hand to her. She glanced at his hand but ignored it.
She did not take his hand and stepped out of the car by herself.
She closed the door and looked around the house.
“What is this?”
Bryan ignored her rude behavior and turned his gaze to the house.
“I built the house a few years ago, right after I became the Night Shade Pack’s Alpha.”
Sophia listened to him without saying anything. Her eyes focused on the house. The more she looked at it, the more she was mesmerized by the beauty of the house.
Bryan walked to the door and pulled out a key from his pocket. He opened the door and gestured with his hand for her to enter.
She looked at him. As if he could see the insecurities inside her eyes, he asked,
“What? You don’t trust me?”
“No.”
He entered the house while saying,
“I don’t believe it. If you did not trust me, you would not have come here with me in the first place.”
She rolled her eyes at him. “You have a misconception about me, Alpha.”
He turned to her while holding the door. “I can read people really well. Now, will you come inside or stay outside the whole day?”
Sophia did not want to say yes, but she was curious to see the interior of the house. She was kind of excited for no reason.
She entered the house and was surprised to see how stunningly decorated it was.
She was left speechless as it was furnished so beautifully. Though it was in the middle of the forest, it was luxurious.
She looked around the house as she took everything in. When she turned around to look at Bryan, she saw him staring at her.
“Looks like a nice place to live.”
He did not move his eyes from her and replied,
“I have never brought anyone here before, not even my parents.”
She was taken aback. She looked away from him and asked,
“Why did you bring me here then?”
She took a step back when he walked toward her. He took her hands and replied,
“I really wish we could stay here together. Just you and me.”
Sophia was stunned. She snatched her hands away from his grip.
She turned away from him and looked around the house.
“Is this where you would have taken me if I had agreed to be your mistress?”
There was a mockery in her tone; she could not help but laugh. She turned to face Bryan and asked,
“So, why did you bring me here? To sleep with me?”
Bryan’s brows lifted as his expression changed. He stared at her without replying. She sneered at him when he became silent.
She assumed he had nothing to say. With a sigh, she moved in the direction of the stairs. She wanted to take a look upstairs. She could see there was a door. She assumed it was a bedroom.
The whole house only had one bedroom. The bedroom was upstairs, and the living, dining, and kitchen areas were all together downstairs.
Just as she was about to take her first step up the stairs, Bryan spoke up behind her.
“I brought you here so that I could spend the day with you here. I didn’t have anything else in mind.”
She decided not to go upstairs and turned to Bryan.
“Why? What is here to spend the day? I am not your friend or your fiancee Mila, who can give you their time. I have my own man who is currently out of the pack. My wedding is in just a few days. My family is planning everything for my wedding. And here you are, my head Alpha, thinking about taking my time.”
He turned away from her and walked to the open kitchen.
“I don’t want to hear anything about your wedding. Let’s not talk about it. You are with me for one day, so let’s push everything aside and enjoy our time.”
“Are you kidding me? What will I do with you the whole day?”
“I am hungry. Why not cook for me?” he asked while pulling out an apron from a kitchen drawer.
She gave him a furious look. “Are you serious? You brought me all the way here to cook for you? Do you see me as a maid who will do your chores? You are neither a friend nor a family member. Why would I cook for an enemy?”
When she saw him emerge from the kitchen, she blinked. Instead of coming toward her, he walked to the couches. He took off his suit jacket and placed it on the couch. He rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt.
