Filed To Story: The Lingering Kiss of Farewell Novel
“Oh yes, Wil and I got married a year after our engagement.”
“Lovely,”
she put pen to paper and wrote under her first signing, ‘Love still blossoms between the happy couple, may it continue to in both light and dark times, Marilyn Riddley.’ And handed it back to her.
The woman read it and smiled.
“Thank you.”
she nodded but still stood there; lo confused to her.
“I’m sorry you just look a lot like my friend Marrin, you could be ng it seemed a bit er doppelganger.”
She just nodded a little.
“Okay,”
she kind of chuckled.
“I hope you enjoy the others as well.”
she smiled before walking away and over to Lisa.
Marilyn saw her again as they were getting into her car to go to the hotel, and found it a bit odd but shook it off. People looked like people all the time. Her agent frowned at her as she too looked at the woman just standing watching her.
“Might be a bit of a problem.”
Lisa muttered as they drove off, and the woman was still standing watching the car.
“It’ll be fine,”
Marilyn stated.
“Don’t concern yourself with it. Maybe I do look like her friend.”
She shrugged it off as they drove to the hotel.
She wasn’t worried about it, they were in New York and nowhere near where she lived, so what if one person thought she looked like someone she knew? It was quite common, actors had lookalikes and everyone claimed to have a doppelganger out there in the world. She likely had one herself in that Marrin person. She, however, wasn’t so curious as to go and try and look that person up. She had a busy life, and wasn’t interested in much other than her writing and her boys. She wasn’t one to watch the news or follow

His Obsession Begins
Wil
He was sitting in Calvin’s private jet when Anabell texted him a picture of a woman, that even he was hard??ressed to not think was Marrin. He glanced at Calvin, the man was on his laptop working away, and he was not going to show that picture to his best friend, not without due cause. They were just getting back from Italy, from dealing with the last woman who tried to pass herself off as Marrin.
So very many women wanted to be the man’s wife, after seeing that Marrin’s body was never found, that those women, desperate to snag a billionaire husband for themselves and never have to work again, were all trying to make themselves look like Marrin, had even gone to the lengths of learning as much about her as they could all her past history.
This latest one had actually gone to extreme lengths and had plastic surgery to make herself look as much like Marrin as possible. The man was sitting there in his chair, hammering away angrily at his laptop, buried in his work now, because he was pissed off, at yet another woman trying to get her hooks into him.
Gold diggers all of them, and yes, he’d sent them all to prison just like he’d said he had. Wil had told him to stop going to look at the women. He’d tried to convince his friend to let it go many times over the years. To convince him that Marrin had actually disappeared, and didn’t want to be found. But Calvin couldn’t let it go, had fallen in love with Marrin, and then felt completely wronged by her.
He was obsessed with wanting to find her, and he wasn’t having any luck in doing so. She’d likely used that money and her degree to wipe all traces of herself from the world they lived in. She had, Wil knew, not only thought, but actually really believed Calvin was cruel in his way of dealing with their divorce, that he had wanted her gone completely from his life; she’d voiced as much right to him. ‘A one??ay ticked, he’s kicking me out and abandoning me to a country where I don’t even speak the language.’
That man over their likely still loved his ex??ife, and that was why he couldn’t let it go. Or that was what Anabell had stated when she’d found out the truth. Had come home to him hauling a very drunk Calvin onto their couch, the man had kind just lay there and in his drunken ramblings muttu”I should never have divorced Rin.”
Anabell had questioned him about those very words. It had been before he’d turned to his way of thinking that Marrin had screwed him over. The man was stuck on it, and no matter what Wil said, Calvin couldn’t be brought around to thinking anything else now.
“Everyone wants a piece of my money, why would she be any different?”
Was all he said now.
His eyes moved back to the phone in his hand.
“Where are you? When was that taken?”
he texted right back.
“Yesterday in New York. I was taken completely for six. Going to Marilyn Riddley’s book signing, that you sent me to it.”
He had sent her to that. She loved that author’s books and this was the first time in 10 years she’d ever done a book signing, so of course he’d sent Anabell. He even knew she packed that book Marrin had given her for their engagement present. She was going to ask her if she knew where Marrin was as well.
“So, Marilyn does know Marrin, she was there!”
“Not that I could deduce. That is not a picture of Marrin, but a picture of Marilyn Riddley.”
Anabell texted
His Obsession Begins back.
He looked at the picture once more and frowned. It looked exactly like Marrin,
“Did you speak to her?”
POMES
“Yes I did, she even signed my book again, it’s the same handwriting… that woman is not Marrin, but Marilyn Riddley. Marrin said she knew her. Maybe she is actually related to her… A twin perhaps?”
He thought about that; anything was possible. He knew that, he felt the plane corning to a stop.
“Don’t show that to Calvin, or bring it up. He has just had another one arrested and imprisoned for identity theft. Let me look into it.”
He heard Calvin snap his laptop shut and Wil pocketed his phone even as it chimed with a notification. He was not about to walk next to Calvin and text Anabell with regard to that. The man would at some point look at his phone out of curiosity and see what they were talking about.
