The crew was speechless, mesmerized by her flawless execution.

“That was amazing!”

“Milly is incredible!”

“She’s extraordinary!”

Victor exhaled in relief and patted Kendall on the back. “Kendall, I didn’t expect you to train her so well.” Victor was dumbfounded that this seemingly delicate girl could possess such skill. He assumed Kendall, with his mercenary background, might have taught Milly some combat techniques. But Kendall scowled and brushed off Victor’s hand. What an idiot! If he hung around Victor too long, he might end up as clueless as Victor was.

“Who checked the wire? How did no one catch this?” Victor scolded the crew, then turned to Milly. “Milly, go take a break.”

Milly nodded and walked away, her face a mask of unreadable calm.

Tatiana gripped her teacup tightly.

“Damn, Milly!”

“Tatiana, there’s something strange about Milly,” the assistant murmured. “Do you think she’s skilled in martial arts?”

Tatiana shivered, recalling how Milly had effortlessly grabbed Kiley with one hand before.

“Hmph, she just got lucky this time.”

Milly settled in a quiet corner, absorbed in her script.

“Are you Milly?”

A voice came from behind.

Milly turned to see a woman, the same one who had been having a video call with Howard the other day. She remained silent, waiting for the woman to continue.

Nalani Pierce, filled with bitterness, inquired, “How long have you been with Howard?”

Since discovering Howard had a girlfriend, she had been uneasy. Even though she thought Howard was not as good as she had imagined before, she couldn’t resist coming to see the woman who had captured his attention. And indeed, Milly was breathtakingly beautiful.

“What’s it to you?” Milly’s reply was as frosty as the winter air.

Nalani shivered at the coldness in her tone. “Don’t be nervous. I’m not here to make trouble; I’m just curious about how you and Howard ended up together.”

Nalani’s bitterness was evident. “I loved Howard for years, but I know I will never have him. I just want to understand why you’re the one he’s with.”

Milly’s eyes sparkled with icy amusement. “Are you kidding me? I know a lot, but you don’t understand. I love Howard. No other man has ever mattered to me,” Nalani confessed, her voice heavy with unspoken sorrow.

She had met this wonderful man in her youth who became the love of her life, and since then, no one else could replace him in her heart.

“I have nothing to say to you,” Milly said, turning her attention back to her script.

Nalani stumbled at Milly’s chilling demeanor. Why would Howard be drawn to someone so aloof? He was such a gentle soul; shouldn’t he be with someone equally warm? Nalani had always imagined Milly to be kind and worthy of Howard. But the reality was a far cry from her ideal.

A thought struck Nalani: “Are you really with Howard, or is he just using you as an excuse?”

“Leave!” Milly said, her voice as cold as ice.

“I just want to know the truth,” Nalani’s unease deepened with Milly’s frosty response.

In an instant, a flash of lethal intent crossed Milly’s face. “I told you to leave!”

Before Nalani could react, Milly’s hand shot out, tightening around her throat. Nalani’s eyes widened in terror as she gazed into Milly’s lifeless eyes. She struggled for breath, her tongue hanging out, feeling as though she was suffocating.

But just as quickly, Milly released her grip, clutching her own head in agony, as if tormented by some inner pain. Nalani collapsed to the floor, stunned and unable to comprehend what had just happened. Was this woman even human?

She trembled, and as she made to flee, a dark figure appeared, swiftly whisking Milly away. In the blink of an eye, Milly vanished from view.

Nalani nearly let out a scream. It was something out of a nightmare—utterly horrifying! Milly was clearly not ordinary. Trembling with fear, Nalani hurried back to her car and called Howard right away, desperate to share what she had just seen. Tears streamed down her face as she spoke, her voice quaking. Nalani was sure that Howard would look into Milly and begin to question her.

“Nalani, I’m only going to say this once. You’re spared because of your dedication to work, but if you test my patience again, I’ll overlook it,” Howard said coldly. He felt Nalani had overstepped.

Nalani cried out, “Mr. Patton, I came to see Milly, but there’s definitely something off about her. She was taken away by someone! I don’t even think she’s a normal person! Her eyes—they were frightening. She’s a lunatic! No, I think she might be involved with some group. Perhaps she came to you with an agenda!” Nalani’s voice was fraught with fear.

“Enough. I don’t want to hear another thing about Milly from you. Talk about her again, and you’re out of the company!” Howard’s voice was cold.

Nalani pressed her hand to her mouth, tears streaming down her face. She didn’t believe him! But she was telling the truth!

Overwhelmed by this incident, Nalani thought of someone who might understand. The next day, Isabella found out that sales of the Klein Group’s new phone had topped a million. Meanwhile, the sales of Corbett’s phone were plummeting, with numerous customers demanding refunds. This defeat was far worse than Corbett had ever anticipated.

In her office, Isabella was intrigued by the phone Howard had given her. Suddenly, a knock came at the door.

“Miss Patton, there is someone here to see you. She says she works for Howard.”

Isabella raised an eyebrow, wondering why someone from Howard’s team would seek her out. “Send her in.”

Shortly after, Nalani walked into the room. Isabella recognized her immediately, but today, Nalani seemed a shadow of her usual vibrant, confident self. She looked haggard and pale, as though she had been through a year-long ordeal. “What’s happening?”

“Miss Patton, I need to tell you something, and I hope you’ll believe me,” Nalani said, her large eyes filled with desperation.

Isabella’s eyes narrowed. “What’s going on?”

“Milly Duncan—Howard’s girlfriend—she’s not what she seems!” Nalani’s voice trembled with both panic and fear.

Isabella was startled by the fright visible in Nalani’s eyes. “Take your time and explain. What did Milly do?” Nalani attempted to steady herself and took a deep breath before detailing the events that had unfolded the day before. As she spoke, her face turned even paler, her fear evident. “She’s definitely not normal. Her eyes, her behavior…”

Isabella kept her composure, though her heart was racing. Neither she nor Andrew had managed to dig out anything from Milly’s past; they had simply assumed she was an ordinary person. However, Nalani’s story suggested that Milly was anything but ordinary. Still, there was a chance Nalani wasn’t being entirely truthful. After all, she and Milly were rivals in love.

But… was it possible for Nalani to fake such genuine fear?

“I understand. Does Howard know about this?” Nalani nodded quickly. “I told him, but he wouldn’t believe me. How can someone as sensible as Howard be so easily deceived? I suspect that woman might have drugged him.”

“Alright, let’s leave it at that. You need to keep your distance from both Milly and Howard,” Isabella suggested.

Nalani cast her eyes down and gave a small nod before she left.

After Nalani left, Isabella wasted no time in contacting Andrew to discuss the troubling news. “It seems something is indeed off about Milly, but Howard is fully trusting her right now,” Isabella said, massaging her temples in frustration.

Why did Howard always fall for the wrong person? She had hoped Milly would be good for him—a chance to heal from his past hurts—but now it seemed he was in for more trouble. Howard’s remarkable nature made him a magnet for emotional turmoil.

Andrew replied, “Calm down. If Milly has ulterior motives, we need to find the evidence first.”

“Okay.”

“Don’t worry, baby. Howard is tougher than he seems.” Isabella nodded. “Alright. By the way, your phones are selling pretty well, aren’t they?” Isabella inquired.

Andrew grinned. “They are doing well. Corbett is probably feeling the pressure.”

Corbett was now on the losing side, and his previous antics were the subject of ridicule. The chatter had already begun.

Just days earlier, Andrew had faced criticism for shopping and being seen with Isabella. Now, people were beginning to see how ridiculous the criticism was. Going on dates was normal, right? Why had there been such a fuss?

“It’s odd that Andrew bashed something typical. Clearly, there was someone behind it,” someone commented. “I don’t understand it either. Is he supposed to abandon his girlfriend for work? What’s wrong with going on a date?”

“It must have been Corbett. Andrew outplayed you, Corbett. Are you embarrassed?”

“I’ve just picked up my new phone from the Klein Group. It’s excellent! I’d suggest it to anyone!”

“It’s budget-friendly and performs excellently. My Prince Charming, Howard, designed it himself. It’s fantastic! I highly recommend it!”

At Corb Technology, Corbett was in a terrible mood due to dismal sales. Reading online comments only worsened his frustration. He had hoped Tatiana’s endorsement of his new phone would help boost their reputation.

But it didn’t work.
