~after~ we’ve celebrated your eighteenth birthday the proper way…”
I caught his ear lobe between my lips.
“…I might consider coming back here with you to give you a little fashion show.”
Ace’s muscles were so tense, his jaw clenched so tightly, that I was surprised he didn’t burst a blood vessel.
After a few seconds of silence, he nipped at my neck once more as if to tide himself over, then answered me. “Which restaurant?”
Ace and I made a quick pit stop at my house before heading to the restaurant, and I saw my family’s instant relief when we walked hand-in-hand through the front door.
They were all glad we’d finally made up. I was glad too.
Despite his reluctance to leave my side, I made him wait downstairs with my brothers while I got ready.
Half an hour later, I walked back downstairs to find Ace playing Mario Kart with my brothers in the living room. He was so focused on the game that he didn’t notice when I arrived.
I took a moment to watch him interact with my siblings. Five of my seven brothers were squished on either side of Ace on our sectional couch, all of them laughing and making jokes.
My heart swelled with adoration for the man in front of me.
He is going to be such a great father someday. I wonder what our kids will look like. I hope they get Ace’s blue eyes—
I shook that thought out of my head.
Where the hell did that come from? ?~Getting a little ahead of yourself, don’t you think, Doe?~
I cleared my throat to get his attention. Ace immediately whirled around, doing a double take when he finally noticed me leaning against the wall. His expression was…hungry maybe? Predatory?
I was wearing a brand-new outfit: a black baby doll dress with thin straps and matching strappy black heels. The dress was short and flowy, highlighted my boobs, and made my legs look a mile long.
I saw the exact moment Ace recognized the sheer white stockings covering my legs as the ones from the lingerie set I’d gifted him earlier. His body stiffened, and his eyes turned heated and wild.
I grinned. With my new dress, my hair curled to perfection, and my makeup all done up, I knew I looked sexy. I felt sexy—especially with the way Ace was looking at me.
And I sort of loved that he knew I was wearing my new lingerie under my clothes.
It was going to make the night so much more fun.
“Ace, what are you doing? You’re driving in circles!” Elliot yelled.
I looked up at the TV. Ace’s car was indeed spinning in circles.
I couldn’t help but giggle. It was the exact reaction I was hoping to get out of him.
Ace didn’t even look back at the TV as he thrust his controller into Elliot’s hands.
“You take over.”
“Really?” Elliot happily accepted it and immediately jumped into the game.
“Wait, where are you going? Are you leaving?” Easton asked when Ace stood.
Ace was too busy undressing me with his eyes to answer. He approached me with determination. He looked sexy as hell in his black dress pants and a matching black button-up. No tie.
It was perfect for the restaurant we were going to. Casual but sophisticated.
“We’re going out on a date,” I replied for Ace. I smiled up at him once he was finally in front of me.
He pulled me to him by my waist, and when I touched his chest, I felt his chest vibrating. He was purring quietly. I bit my lip. I could drown in the sound.
Fortunately, all my brothers were too consumed by their game to notice my outfit.
My dress and heels were fine, but I wasn’t sure how I’d have felt knowing I was wearing sexy lingerie under my clothes.
“Tell Mom and Dad I left and will be back later!” I called out to my siblings as I pulled Ace to the front door.
“Will you hold these for me?” I handed Ace my wallet and phone. “This dress doesn’t have pockets, and I don’t have a purse that goes with my outfit.”
Ace took them from me and slid them into his pocket. His eyes shifted back and forth from my legs to my breasts as if he couldn’t decide which he wanted to look at more.
He licked his lips. “I don’t know how I’m going to get through dinner,” he mused in a low tone. “You’re sure you don’t want to just go back to my place and let me have my way with you?”
My only response was to giggle and drag him out the door to his car.
When we got to it, instead of opening the door for me like usual, Ace pinned me to the side of the vehicle and pushed his hips up against mine, placing his hands on either side of my head.
My gaze flew to the windows of my house as I worried my innocent brothers might be watching us, but I soon saw no one could see us.
“Doe, please, don’t tell me…” Ace growled as soon as he crept his hands over my ass and squeezed it so that the bottom of my dress lifted just slightly.
This provided him with the perfect opportunity to skim the lace of my stockings and the start of my thong with his fingers. I gasped, and my hips did an involuntary dance against his.
He let out a pained groan while dropping his head onto my shoulder. “You’re going to kill me. How am I supposed to sit across from you, knowing what you have on underneath this sexy little dress?”
“So dramatic.” I laughed, feeling breathless. “You’ll be fine. Now, come on, let’s go.
The sooner you let me take you to dinner, the sooner I’ll let you take me home.”
Ace let out one more low groan, kissed my shoulder, and then pushed off me so he could open the car door.
***
Ace was right. Sitting across from him during dinner was a cruel form of torture.
He wouldn’t stop looking at me through hooded eyes, wouldn’t stop licking his lips like he wanted to eat me, wouldn’t stop nudging his knee in between mine under the table.
It was all very distracting. But in a good way.
I’d brought him to the nicest restaurant in town. It was called No Name and served Italian: pasta and salads with fancy edible flowers, fine wines, and the most expensive meatballs ever.
The bill was going to be high, yes, but it was worth it for the quality of the food and the time spent with my boyfriend on his (sort of) birthday. I just wanted to make him feel special.
We were flirting over two plates of tiramisu, playing footsie underneath the table, when a strange spark of heat raced down my spine.
I tried to ignore it at first. It was not the time for it, and I wanted to enjoy my first real date with my boyfriend.
We were almost done with dessert, and then we could pay and go home. I just had to hold out for a little longer and then everything would be fine.
Another powerful wave of heat hit me, and I squirmed in my seat, drawing Ace’s attention. Shit.
“You okay, beautiful?”
I brushed my hair over my shoulder, needing to cool my sweaty neck. “Yeah. I’m fine. I’m just ready to go. Can we get the check?”
I searched the busy restaurant for our waiter, slumping when I saw him on the opposite side of the room, helping another table.
“Are you sure? You look a little flushed…” Ace’s voice trailed off and he raised his nose and took a deep whiff. “Give me your hand,” he demanded abruptly.
