Ace grinned and deepened the kiss, slipping his tongue inside my mouth while he pulled me onto his lap. I moaned.
Ace pulled back. “So, where’s my last gift?”
“W-what? What gift?” I stammered, hating that I could feel my cheeks reddening. It was a dead giveaway that I was up to something.
Amusement swirled in his blue eyes. “You told me you got me eighteen presents for my eighteenth birthday. I’m only counting seventeen.”
I scoffed. “Um, okay, Dudley Dursley, I must have miscounted or something.” I tried to give him a nonchalant shrug. “I guess it’s seventeen presents for your eighteenth birthday.”
Ace shook his head. He kneaded my hips with his fingers as his smirk grew. “I know you’re lying, Doe. I saw you fish a red box out of the bag when you were walking back from my car.”
I gasped. “You were watching me?”
“Of course I watched you. You were acting far too guiltily not to be up to something.”
He tugged me closer, making me squeak. I grasped his shoulders to stabilize myself.
My sex was now lined up perfectly with his, separated only by his boxers and my panties.
“I’ll have you know, that little red box was the gift I was most excited about opening.” He kissed the tip of my chin. “So, you can imagine my disappointment when I saw you throw it in my bushes.”
Crap, he really does see everything. ?“I-I decided that I didn’t want to give you that one. It was stupid, really. You wouldn’t have liked it anyway.”
“Why don’t you let me be the judge of that?”
Ace tried to lift me off him but I pressed down on his shoulders to keep him from standing.
“No, really. It wasn’t important,” I insisted.
Ace grinned, unaffected by my panic. “Either I go get it or you do. What will it be, Doe?”
“Can’t we just leave it there and let the squirrels have it?”
He shook his head. “And never find out what’s making your cheeks that delicious shade of red? I don’t think so.”
I groaned. There was no way he was letting this go.
“Fine,” I said, finally giving in. “But I’ll go get it. You stay here.”
He watched me from his spot at the edge of the bed, leaning back on his hands with a huge grin on his face. He looked sexy as hell in only his boxers, his sculpted chest on full display.
I swallowed. “A—and put some pants on.”
Ace raised his brow. “Why?”
Because you’re too distracting. ?“Because I said so.”
Ace’s laugh echoed out of his room behind me as I made my way back down the hall.
A ball of nerves was expanding in my chest as I reentered Ace’s room, his final present firmly in my hands.
Ace was waiting for me exactly where I’d left him, sitting on the edge of his bed, only he was wearing jeans now.
His upper half was still bare…
I thought the pants would make things less distracting for me but I was wrong. He looked even better! Like a sexy farmer or cowboy who’d just come back from working the fields.
“You keep looking at me like that, and we’re not going to get around to opening up your little present,” Ace growled.
Maybe that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
I scoffed through my embarrassment. I must have blacked out there for a second.
“Your head is getting too big. I wasn’t looking at you in any sort of way.”
Ace raised a dark eyebrow at me. “If you say so.” He held one hand out, gesturing for me to give the gift to him.
I swallowed and closed the distance between us. “Here.” I thrust the red box at him.
Ace took it with the cockiest smirk I had ever seen plastered on his face.
I turned on my heel and quickly made my way to the door.
“Hold on, where do you think you’re going?” Ace called after me.
I stopped in the doorway and turned back to look at him. “I don’t want to be here when you open that one.”
Ace shook his head. He patted the spot next to him on the bed and scooted over.
“Nuh-uh. Absolutely not. Sit your ass down. Don’t you want to see my reaction?”
I took another step out of the room. “No, thank you. I don’t feel like being embarrassed. You go ahead and open it, and then you can let me know what you think later. When it’s back in the box.”
Ace cocked his head to the side, his smile only growing, and I realized I was only causing him to be more curious about the gift.
I, on the other hand, wished I’d never bought the damn thing in the first place.
“I would never do anything to embarrass you, Doe. You know that. I’m sure I’m going to love whatever it is. Anything that comes from you is already perfect to me.
Now, get your cute butt over here.”
I remained on my spot in the doorway. Ace set the present down next to him and stood, looking at me with a dark sparkle in his eyes.
I immediately knew what he was up to.
Ever since we were little, Ace had always loved it when I ran from him. He liked to chase after me, hunt me down, and pin me beneath him when he finally caught me, keeping me still until I relented.
I’d never admit it but I loved it when he chased me too. Even though I pretended to be annoyed, I enjoyed how he grabbed my waist, pressed against me, and growled playfully in my ear with victory.
How he held my wrists above my head and tickled me until I finally gave in.
I craved being in his dominant hold, all while knowing I was perfectly safe. It made me feel loved and protected at once.
But it was not the time for a playful chase. It was time to get as far away from him as possible to avoid having to watch him open my present.
I squeaked and ran out of the room.
Of course, I should have known better. I barely made it two steps down the hall before Ace was behind me, wrapping his huge arms around my waist and tugging me against him.
“I don’t think so,” he said in my ear with a chuckle.
He effortlessly spun me around and pinned me against the wall, careful not to hurt my shoulder. I didn’t bother struggling. I knew there was no point.
Ace growled in approval of my surrender and kissed my forehead lovingly. “Good girl.” Then he picked me up, positioning his hands beneath my ass, and carried me back to his room.
After laying me down on his bed, he crawled on top of me and sat down so he was straddling my hips, ensuring I couldn’t wriggle away from him.
I huffed in annoyance but felt my cheeks warming when that familiar yet unwelcome throbbing sensation started up between my legs.
