The room fell silent. The others seemed ready to speak but chose to hold their tongues at that critical moment.

Isabella felt a weight in her heart—Jada’s influence was much greater than she had previously realized.

In a barely audible grumble, Wesley muttered, “Susan really is useless.”

“And what about you?” Isabella retorted coolly, her voice cutting through the tension. “I’ve heard you barely engage in family matters, wasting your days on races and frivolities. If we’re making comparisons, who really is the useless one here?”

“What gives you the right to talk to me like that?” Wesley flared up, his face a portrait of indignation.

“And what gives you the right to pass judgment on others like that?” Isabella’s sharp gaze pierced Wesley, sending a shiver down his spine. How could such a formidable aura come from someone who seemed so fragile?

Reluctantly, Wesley fell silent, eager to escape her scrutiny.

“Alright, Wesley, you were out of line,” Jada interjected, her tone a mix of reproach and conciliation. “Remarks like that will only cause trouble for you. Let’s just enjoy our meal.”

After dinner, they left the private room.

Wesley trailed behind Jada as they approached Andrew’s Rolls-Royce. He scanned the area but didn’t see the driver.

“Jada, I can’t drive you home today; I have another engagement. You should go with Andrew,” he quickly suggested.

Jada exchanged a brief look with Andrew, who gave a subtle nod in agreement.

Wesley, seizing the opportunity to show his politeness, opened the passenger door. “Jada, please, get in the car. You should rest. The long flight must have been exhausting.”

“I won’t sit in the front,” Jada stated firmly. “The front passenger seat is usually reserved for the girlfriend.”

“Come on, we’re all friends here. No need to be so particular about it!” Wesley urged.

Reluctantly, Jada slid into the front seat.

Wesley glanced back at Isabella and said, “We’ve all grown up together and shared the same bed. You don’t mind such small things, do you?”

“I don’t mind,” Isabella replied with indifference. Wesley scoffed inwardly; clearly, she wasn’t bold enough to object.

“Then you can head back. I’m leaving as well,” he said, turning to walk away.

Jada rolled down the window and told Isabella, “If it bothers you, I’ll get out of the car. It’s fine.”

“It’s not a problem. Stay seated,” Isabella replied as Andrew opened the back door, allowing Isabella to get in. To her surprise, Andrew also took a seat in the back.

Jada was puzzled. Who would drive?

Soon, the driver, who had been smoking nearby, returned and took his place in the driver’s seat. He looked surprised to see Jada. “Miss Riggs?”

“Mr. Deleon, it’s been a while,” Jada said, momentarily surprised but quickly smiling in recognition. “Miss Riggs, you’re back! Did you just return today?”

“Mr. Klein, where should we head first?” the driver asked Andrew, who replied, “Take Jada home first.”

The driver headed to the Riggs family’s home first. During the drive, Jada spoke with the driver in a relaxed manner, without putting on airs at all.

Once they reached their destination, Jada got out of the car and approached Isabella. “Isabella, I really enjoyed our time today. Can I have your phone number? It would be great to go shopping together sometime.”

Isabella quickly responded, “Sorry, but I’d rather not.” Jada didn’t take offense.

“Alright, maybe we can talk about it another time. I’m heading home now. Please be careful on your way,” she said before walking into the Riggs family’s residence.

Isabella and Andrew headed back as well. Andrew grasped Isabella’s hand firmly. “If you were uncomfortable with them, there was no need to have dinner with them.”

He was familiar with his friends—they were all closely associated with Jada.

“It was just a dinner. They won’t bite,” Isabella said with a light smile.

Despite her reassurances, Andrew pulled out his phone and sent a text.

That evening, Wesley headed to the racetrack for his usual racing routine. Today’s race was a competition against another team.

Wesley had been training for over a month for this race and felt confident about winning. He smirked as he eyed his opponents, feeling as if they were already defeated.

Everyone made their way to their respective cars, ready for the race to start.

Suddenly, Wesley felt a hand grasp his shoulder.

“Can’t you see I’m—” Wesley snapped. When he turned and saw the face of the newcomer, he froze, his helmet dropping to the ground from his hand as if he had seen a ghost. Why was his father here?

“Dad, I thought you were always busy. What are you doing here?” Wesley asked, forcing a nervous smile.

The people around him were puzzled by Wesley’s sudden shift in demeanor. Their usually rebellious leader was now showing unexpected respect to this unfamiliar man.

“Wesley, what’s going on? We’re supposed to be getting in the car!” one of his team members shouted. “Who is this guy? Why is he interrupting our race?”

“Fuck off!” Wesley’s temples pulsed with stress. He turned to his father and pleaded, “Dad, this is a competition. Please let me do this this time. I swear I won’t race again after this!”

“Really?” the man replied with a chilling smile.

Wesley felt a shiver run down his spine.

“You said the same thing last time. So, I’ll make sure you keep your promise first!” The man gestured sharply, and several bodyguards stepped in and grabbed Wesley. The man’s expression hardened. “Take him back and lock him up for a month!”

A whole month?

Wesley’s vision blurred, and he nearly fainted from shock.

How did his father even find him? This place was miles from the city.

A month? He would rather face anything but this!

It was unbearable!

Wesley felt like his world was collapsing.

Meanwhile, as Jada arrived home, she found her mother, Mara, already waiting for her. As soon as Mara saw Jada, she approached her with a look of satisfaction. “Jada, you’re finally back,” she said warmly.

“Mom, thank you for everything you’ve done this year. I’m finally back,” Jada replied with a smile. “Where’s Dad?”

“He hasn’t returned yet.” Just as Mara finished speaking, the sound of a car engine echoed at the gate. She smiled and added, “It sounds like your father is back. He usually comes home very late, but today he must have returned early because of you.”

Jada smiled and glanced toward the door. Esteban walked in, but to her surprise, Susan was with him.

Mara looked equally surprised.

Jada spoke up, “Susan, I’m back! How have you been?”

Susan gave Jada a frosty glance and replied, “I’m fine when you are not around.”

Jada felt hurt by Susan’s words. “Why are you being so harsh? I just wanted to make sure you’re okay. I missed you every day while I was away.”

Susan frowned and looked at Jada before turning back to her mother. “Jada, have you eaten yet?”

“Yes, I’ve already had dinner with friends,” Jada said, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Dad, I know you’ve been working hard. I’m ready to start at the company tomorrow.”

“That’s excellent,” Esteban nodded in approval. “Could you join me in the study?”

Jada followed her father, aware that he likely intended to discuss company matters. As they approached the study door, Susan appeared. Jada said, “Susan, Dad might need to talk to me about something important. You should probably go get some rest.”

“Susan, you should come in as well,” Esteban instructed. Jada was taken aback. Was Esteban not planning to discuss company matters after all?

Both Susan and Jada entered the study and took their seats facing Esteban, waiting for him to speak. “You’re both adults now,” he began. “The company needs an heir to carry on its legacy.”
