Filed To Story: The Lingering Kiss of Farewell Novel
She’d made all the beds and hadn’t needed to be told where the linen was. He’d sat and watched her, hadn’t helped her solely because he’d found it interesting that she just went about doing things like she owned the house. Moved about inside it like she once had, and he’d liked seeing it.
She looked at the stairs and then had just put both crutches in one hand reached for the railing to walk up them. “Just stay there, I’ll come back and get you,” he stated.
“It’s not necessary.” She replied, and he’d seen her take those first few steps and shaken his head. She was so bloody stubborn at times. He put her suitcase down and collected her crutches from her and leaned them up against the wall, and gotten frowned at by her. Before, he’d just picked her up and carried her up the stairs. Even though she verbalised a protest, his boys were staring at him by the time he got to the top.
He walked her down to the master bedroom and put her down on the bed, smiled at her as he’d placed a hand on either side of her. “Now that wasn’t so bad was it?” he’d stated, and she’d shifted further up the bed away from him.
Which only made him chuckle. “Nervous are we.” He teased her just a little but then stood up and headed out of the bedroom to go and get her things. He was going to find every excuse to pick her up and carry her about, get her used to him touching her. Though she’d not fought against him, he realised. Other than the frown and that one comment, she didn’t object like she had last night in the parking garage. That could only be a good thing.
He walked down the hall and saw both boys standing talking in hushed tones in one of the rooms, and he stepped in. “What’s going on?” he asked. He knew secret talk when he saw it. He had two sisters, and as kids they’d done that.
He was latched onto by Vincent and Callum ran over and looked out the door, and then closed it and turned to him. Oh yes, it was secret talk that they didn’t want their mum to hear. “Are you and mum back together?” Callum asked up at him, very direct, and he realised at that moment, Callum was just like he was, and Vincent was gentler by nature. Vincent was just like Marilyn.
“No,” he answered honestly. “I would like that, you both know that.” He hunkered down and looked at them. “I also told her that is what I want just this morning.” He admitted and saw them both smile up at him. “She didn’t say anything, is not ready for that.” he told them “Just calm down a little hey.”
They both nodded. “Will we live here?” Vincent asked him.
“I’d like that, but again nothing has been decided. It will likely be on your mother’s terms. I’ll not give up boys. I want us all to be a family. Marrying your mother is my goal.” He smiled at them. “I have only ever loved her, and I don’t intend on loving anyone else. She is the only woman for me. She just needs time is all.”
They both nodded at him.
Marilyn
She kind of didn’t know what to do about that article, but she read it on her own phone and the threads as well. She took a call from Lisa as well. “I got a notification about that article, from one of your fans in Houston on your social media page asking if it’s really you or is it Marrin. What do you want me to release? And why is that man carrying you about?” she half muttered.
“Long story short. I recalled everything, slapped him, yelled and screamed at him, and then walked down 20 flights of stairs. My ankle is now swollen. He waited for me at the bottom.”
“Right, your fans want to know what is going on?”
“It’s not really any of their business,” Marilyn murmured. “It’s my private personal life, i don’t involve them in that, you know this.”
“I understand that, but you could lose readers over something like this,” Lisa muttered.
“So be it.” she sighed.
“Marilyn, I have talked about this with my dad already. Do you want to hear what his advice was?” Lisa asked her.
“I don’t know, do I?” she muttered.
“I don’t like it, but then I don’t much like Calvin himself… but he was your husband, and he’s always going to be a part of your life from now, so… Dad says to just come clean to the fans.”
“I’m not doing a press conference.” Marilyn sighed and leaned back on the bedhead.
“You don’t have to, Dad has a copy of the file, and so does Wil, Calvin’s lawyer, right?”
