“Where ever you want me to be.” He smiled right at her.
“I’ve not agreed to anything you stated you want.” She murmured.
“No, you didn’t but. It’s a nice thought, isn’t it? us back together, you and I sleeping in the same bed, and our boys just down the hall. A real family. I know you wanted that once. I wanted it. Now we can have it,” he told her simply, as if everything was just going to fall into place and be all hunky-dory.
“Calvin, you do understand that it’s not going to be just like that, don’t you?” she frowned at him.
“Hmm, but it could be, we’re both adults. The boys would also love it, I’m certain of that.” he was still smiling at her. “So why can’t we choose to just be together once more, I honestly don’t see why we can’t do that, it’s simply a choice is all.”
“We’re divorced Calvin, is why.” She muttered.
“Not for the reasons everyone else out there is,” he murmured. “There are also people out there that work through their issues and get remarried. We could just be that. I could google it and tell you how many if you like.” He stated, and she turned and looked at him a little on the exasperated side, only to see him doing just that.
“Ah, look, it’s 15%” he turned his phone to her, a smile on his face.
She rolled her eyes as she looked at the numbers “10 to 15% reconcile.” She pointed out what he’d opted to ignore. “6% get remarried. You take liberties with the numbers.”
He laughed. “Hmm, I’m trying to sway you, so, of course I will,” he nodded. “It’s not like others haven’t done it before us, it’s not so uncommon a thing that it never happens either.”
“Right.” she shook her head as she came to the guesthouse. “Are you going to be like this all the time now? Because I have my memories back.”
“Likely so,” he nodded. “I’m not about to give up on us. So, well… You know how persistent I can be, already gotten to see that. Even as Marilyn, without your memories, and you yourself would recall how I was prior to marrying me, dealing with me, trying to buy you and your girl’s company, and, of course, while you were married to me. Has anything really changed in that department where I’m concerned?” he asked.
She huffed now and shook her head ‘no’, because he was right, he always got what he wanted, regardless of how long it took. He never bloody stopped trying to get what he wanted until he had it.
Calvin chuckled once more. “I wonder, who’s more stubborn right now, you or me?” he teased her gently. “Do you want to find out?” he murmured in her ear.
She closed her eyes and sighed because she had a feeling he was going to win that game. He was right this very second being the Calvin she had fallen in love with, the charming yet arrogant, self-assured man who not only knew what he wanted, but intended on getting what he wanted as well. That being her, she realised. She sat down on the couch in the guest house and heard him laugh. “That sounds like defeat to me. Did I win already?” he asked, fully amused, as he walked off to put her bag in the bedroom.
“Win what?” the twins asked as they looked up at him, having finally come inside from running about the garden.
His eyes moved to hers, and she shook her head at him as if to say don’t you tell them what we’re talking about. He hunkered down and smiled at them, “I told your mother, I wanted you all to move into the main house, I think boys. It’s time you two, choose bedrooms for yourselves up there. Whenever you come to visit, this will be the place we stay… Our family home.” He smiled at them. “What do you think about that?” he asked.
They were smiling up at him. “We love it,” they practically yelled.
At least the man had contained himself and his words. There wasn’t much else she could hope for, and they would be coming to visit, so, she couldn’t even deny that statement of them living here when they came. Even if she didn’t come with them, it was likely this was where he would stay with them.
“Where will mum stay?” Vincent/asked him.
“In the master bedroom,” Calvin smiled. “It was her bedroom.”
“And you dad, that’s where you’re sleeping now?” Callum asked, and there it was the hope in her son’s voice.
It wasn’t lost on Calvin either. He chuckled. “Likely in another room, son.” He ruffled Callum’s hair and stood up once more. “Shall we move you now?” he asked, and both boys were yelling about packing a second later, and she saw him smile at her. “The boys are on my side you know that right?” he chuckled.
