“I know you. Bryan, you need to calm down on the inside. It is a pack party. I think she is just here to see what you will do.”
Bryan listened to Robert, but his eyes were fixed on Sophia.
Under the chandelier light, her black gown sparkled with stones. Her bare arms looked appealing, and her flawless body drew every man’s attention. She looked like the most attractive woman at the party.
Suddenly, Bryan’s eyes flashed red as his face could not remain calm anymore.
He noticed Victor grabbing Sophia’s waist. His inner wolf began to growl inside. He clenched his jaw, frowning hard.
He expected Sophia to push away the man’s hand. But Sophia gave him a soft smile. Victor told her something, and she nodded her head in response.
Soon after that, they started moving in his direction.
Bryan’s eyes burned with rage as he stared at Sophia.
Didn’t Abraham say she thought of that man as just her friend? But how could she allow a friend to get this close to her?
As the beta of this pack, Robert had to do his duty. So when Victor approached, Robert could not help but greet him.
“Alpha Victor.”
Victor looked at Robert as he came to a halt with Sophia in front of him and Bryan.
Sophia avoided eye contact with Bryan. When Victor grabbed her waist and told her that he was going to introduce her to his parents, she agreed with it.
She did not know if it was necessary. However, when she glanced at Bryan and found him standing in the way, she could not help but nod at Victor.
“It’s surprising to see you at this party so early,” Beta Robert said in a sarcastic tone.
Victor smiled at him and replied, “How can I not come? The woman who is accompanying me today is very special to me.”
Sophia felt awkward when Robert raised his brow and glanced at her. “I see.”
Sophia ignored Bryan’s gaze the entire time, even though she could feel him staring at her.
However, Victor did not ignore it. He looked over at Bryan and uttered,
“Alpha Bryan, you look so cool today. I guess you are enchanted by my sister’s charms.”
Bryan shifted his gaze to Robert and replied,
“You are so right, Alpha Victor.”
Sophia tightened her fists when she heard that. She ignored Bryan’s remarks and held Victor’s arm.
“Victor, you said you were going to talk to your parents.”
Both Bryan and Robert were taken aback by her soft tone. Victor glanced at her hand, then smirked at her.
“Of course, darling. Let me summon them here.”
Bryan was fuming inside. He could not believe Victor had dared to call Sophia ‘Darling’, and she responded with another smile.
Robert glanced at Sophia, then at Bryan. He could only pray in his head that Bryan would not lose control. But he also knew who his Alpha was. He was a man who could never lose his temper or show his vulnerable side to others. In fact, he preferred to punish others harshly while maintaining a calm demeanor.
Victor tilted his head and looked at his father. “Alpha Lucas, please come here with everyone. I have something to say.”
Alpha Lucas’s eyes widened when Victor called him. He took a quick glance at his wife and daughter. They all appeared terrified, as if Victor had summoned them not to speak but to kill.
Alpha Harry noticed the fear and nodded at Lucas. “Let’s go to him. Let’s see what new thing he has discovered.”
Both Bryan’s and Mila’s parents walked toward them. Mila trailed behind them.
Bethany Laurant, Mila’s mother, looked at her daughter. She slowed her pace and grabbed Mila’s hand.
“What’s wrong with you? Do you think, with this terrified expression, you will become Alpha Bryan’s Luna?” She whispered to Mila.
Mila’s gaze was fixed on Sophia as she murmured,
“Can’t you see that woman, Mom? She is here. How do I stay calm?”
“Who is she that makes you so nervous? She is just another plaything for Victor.”
Mila looked at her mother with a disapproving look. “Mom, didn’t you recognize her? She is Bryan’s mate.”
Bethany’s footsteps came to a halt. “What? What is she doing with Victor?”
Mila clenched her jaw in rage. “That’s what I’m saying. Victor seemed interested in her, so I expected him to spend the night with her and then leave the pack. I assumed he was not interested in this party. I wonder if he is aware that she was Bryan’s mate. We kept it a secret from him. If he knows, then you know him. He can do anything.”
Bethany slowly turned her attention to Victor and Sophia. “There is no need to worry. Bryan is on our side. He will go to any length to ensure that the wedding goes ahead. He is a man of one word.”
After that, they went up to Victor and Sophia.
On the other hand, Victor looked at his father when he and others came to him.
Sophia raised her head to glance at Victor. She was surprised when he addressed his father by name and rank. She believed they had a really bad relationship.
A frown formed on her face as she noticed Victor’s expression change when his father approached.
She remembered him telling her that his father had betrayed his mother and married Mila’s mother. She wondered if he despised them.
Her brows slightly rose when he noticed how cold he was looking. Victor, whom she knew, was no longer there. In fact, he had a very fierce face, which almost caused her to take a step back.
“Alpha Lucas, why are you so scared? As if I am going to eat you alive?” Victor said this while looking at Lucas.
Alpha Lucas cleared his throat and glanced at Bryan, who turned calm. It gave him a sense of relief. If Bryan was not angry, then everything must be alright.
Lucas turned to face Victor and answered,
“We thought you wouldn’t co…”
Victor shook his head as he muttered, “I don’t like the same repeated question, Alpha Lucas. What you all think doesn’t matter to me. You are all blessed that I am here. Isn’t it?”
His cold demeanor astounded Sophia. She blinked her eyes, turning away from Victor.
But her gaze fell on another cold man. She saw Bryan staring at her. His calm expression indicated that he did not mind who she was with.
‘I don’t care about you either, Bryan.’ She thought about it and looked away, as if he were a stranger to her.
Mila walked toward Bryan and held his arm. She glared at Sophia.
Sophia noticed it and gave her an eye roll.
“You wanted to talk about something,” Alpha Harry told Victor after greeting him with a nod.
Victor grinned at him and glanced at Bryan, who did not even look at him for once.
“I would like to introduce you all to someone.”
He turned to Sophia and drew her closer to him as his hand was already gripping her waist.
Sophia was stunned by the sudden pull, but she didn’t react in front of others.
Instead, she placed her hand on Victor’s chest and smiled at him.
“I always want to keep you close to me, you know,” Victor said loudly.
After saying that, he turned to others and fixed his gaze on Bryan.
“Meet my girlfriend, Sophia Berge.”
A loud growl reverberated throughout the entire hall as soon as Victor finished his sentence.
The sound of the dominant growl sent shivers down the spines of every guest. They struggled to keep from giving in or dropping to their knees as they trembled.
They turned to their two rival Alphas, who were glaring at each other.
It was Alpha Bryan who growled at Alpha Victor.
He pushed Mila’s hand and stepped toward Victor with a pair of red eyes. His wolf almost took over, but he caged him inside.
His gaze was a warning for Victor to let out another word.
Victor, on the other hand, calmed himself and smirked at Bryan. “What caused Alpha Bryan to growl? Is there any problem, Alpha?”
Victor mocked him with his tone. Bryan was no longer able to remain calm.
“I allowed you to stay in my pack just for this party. A leaf on a tree can’t even move here without my permission, and you planned to get a girlfriend here?”
