His gaze shifted to them, eventually settling on the woman dressed in black.

With a sly grin on his face, Victor walked toward her.

Sophia was stunned when he handed her the bouquet and kissed her on the cheek.

“Hello, gorgeous.”

She froze in her place. She did not expect him to do something like that.

Did he just kiss her cheek? She blinked her eyes as she was puzzled by the moment.

Sara and Nolan were astounded. Victor chuckled at Sophia’s reaction. He turned to her friends and said,

“Don’t mind her. My girlfriend is a bit slow.”

Sophia frowned when she came to her senses.

Nolan immediately extended his hand toward him to greet him. Victor shook his hand with him.

“They are my friends, Sara and Nolan.” Sophia introduced them to him in a low tone.

“Let’s go, darling. We should not keep my sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law waiting too long.”

Sophia looked away from him after hearing him. He opened the front door of his car for her and she got inside.

He returned to the driver’s seat and started the car while Nolan and Sara got into Nolan’s car and drove to the venue of the pack party.

Sophia slowly turned her head to look at Victor. His handsome face caught her attention. She averted her gaze as she asked,

“Why did you kiss me that time in front of my friends?”

Victor let out a dark laugh and muttered,

“Do you even count that as a kiss?”

Sophia knew he was kidding with her right now. It was all an act in front of her friends.

“Whatever. Don’t do that again.”

After slowing down the car, he turned his head to glance at her.

“What if I do that again? What can you do to me?”

She turned to face him, giving him a cold look.

“I will kill you, Alpha Victor.”

Victor did not move his gaze from Sophia after hearing her. His eyes were calm, but she could see a glint of anger inside them, which stunned her.

She turned away from him, only to be shocked. A truck was approaching the car from a distance.

“Hey! Do you want to die? Focus on the road!”

However, Victor did not avert his gaze from her. Instead, he muttered,

“What will happen? It will only smash the car.”

Her eyes widened as she turned her head at him again. “W-What are you saying? Look at the road, Victor. It’s not funny anymore.”

She felt he had almost looked insane. How did he say that? Did he want to die?

Her heart rate increased as he accelerated the car and drove toward the truck rather than turning it aside.

“Victor! What’s wrong with you?”

“Why so afraid? Death is so close to you. Feel it.”

Sophia tightened her grip on the seatbelt; her eyes were wide, and her heart was pounding inside her chest.

She could not believe she was going to die soon.

She shut her eyes in fear when the car was about to touch the truck.

At that moment, she felt the car make a sharp right turn, causing her body to move toward Victor.

She felt a hand wrap around her waist as the car jerked to a halt.

She slowly opened her eyes, realizing that the car was not moving. There was no truck in front of the car, and she was leaning against a firm chest.

She lifted her head and saw a pair of red eyes.

She was stunned, and she immediately moved back to her seat.

Victor blinked his eyes, and they turned back to black. He leaned toward her and whispered,

“If you want to kill me, you must first learn how to face death. Only someone who is fearless of death can be my demise.”

Sophia blinked her eyes. She regained her composure and pushed his chest firmly.

“Are you crazy?”

Victor moved back and burst out laughing.

“Look at your face! You are so scared.”

Sophia tightened her fists and glared at him. “Do you think everything is funny?”

“If you keep looking at me like that, it can kill me. Perhaps you were talking about this,” he muttered as he restarted the car.

Sophia found this man very strange. Now she understood why he got the title of careless man. The reason was that he always did whatever he wanted. His lifestyle was different from other Alphas.

She noticed the bouquet fall near her legs. She grabbed it and tossed it lightly into the backseat.

“You almost killed me with your entertaining tactics,” she mumbled with anger.

“I can never kill.”

Victor’s tone was harsh, as if he were telling her that he would never do that to her.

She felt confused about whether it was the right idea to accept this man’s proposal. Because who knew? She might even die before reaching the party.

She rubbed her forehead with worry and combed her hair with her fingers to restyle it.

Sophia did not say anything else, so the car fell silent. She believed that if she let out anything more, this man would lose his temper and plan to make a fool of her again. So she remained quiet.

After a while,

The car pulled over in front of the party venue. Victor got out of the car and walked to the door beside Sophia.

He opened the door and reached out to her. Sophia looked at his hand, hesitant to take it.

He lowered himself to her level. “Don’t be afraid. You are the only woman who can talk to me while looking into my eyes. If you give me the same vibe as others, I will lose interest very quickly.”

Sophia shut her eyes to calm herself. She took a deep breath before grabbing his hand.

When she stepped down from the car, she looked at him and replied,

“If you lose interest, that is fine with me. Because I don’t have any interest in you either.”

Her tone was sharp, but her eyes were calm, as if she had not been afraid of death before.

Victor closed the door and grinned at her. “Pardon me. I was just trying to make you stronger. Because what if that man blackmails you about killing you? You can deal with it now by looking into his eyes.”

Sophia looked at her, trying to understand him. How did he know Bryan so well?

So, all that fear of death was only to make her experience it?

She smiled at him and mumbled,

“Don’t worry. One day, I will stab him in the chest without even shaking my hands. Who knows, maybe I will overcome my fear of death to kill you as well.”

Victor was stunned by her words. She winked at him and started walking ahead.

After a few steps, she turned around to see him still in his position.

“We are getting late, boyfie. Let’s go.”

Victor scoffed at her. He chuckled, shaking his head. “What a cold woman I got for myself!”
