I shook my head, grinning at him. “How did I even get so lucky to have you?”

He propped himself up. “I ask myself the same thing. Then I remember I saved you like, five times.”

“Fair,” I laughed. “I repaid the favour though.’

“

“You did.” He kissed my nose. “Back to packing now.”

He climbed off of me, and I stood up, my chest feeling warm and giddy from inside.

I zipped up another bag and placed it beside the first one. “Are you excited?”

“Excited isn’t even the word,” he said, pulling me towards him again. “I cannot wait to take you home. To have you all to myself every single night.” His hand slipped beneath my shirt, fingers lightly skimming the curve of my back.

My cheeks heated. “Zane…”

He raised an eyebrow, amused. “Still blushing? I thought you were ready to complete the bond with me.”

I buried my face in his chest. “Just because I’m ready doesn’t mean I’m immune to your smooth talking.”

He laughed, low and warm, and gently turned my face to himself. “You’re adorable.”

“And you’re distracting,” I said, pushing him gently towards the door. “We need to go.”

He leaned in and kissed my cheek. “Fine. But just so you know, I plan on distracting you a lot more once we get there.”

“Noted,” I muttered, heart racing as I zipped up the final bag.

-LIA’S POV-

I had no idea where to look.

The announcement hall was packed with people-shoulder to shoulder, wall to wall-and every single one of them was staring at me.

Zane stood tall beside me, calm and collected like he belonged here. Like he’d done this a thousand times. And maybe he had. But me? I was standing on a polished stone platform in front of a hundred werewolves with no clue what to do with my hands.

I’d met a few of them before. There were faces in the crowd that I did recognise. Emerald, for example. Derek. The Hounds. A few others who I knew by face but not by name.

I’d visited Zane’s pack house multiple times before. They all knew me after the war with The Order.

But this was the first time all of them were gathered together to stare at me. So naturally, stage fright was kicking in a bit too hard.

It didn’t help that I had nearly tripped on the stairs coming up here. Or that my dress was tighter than I expected. Or that Zane had said something earlier about them all ‘looking up to me’, which only made me want to disappear into the ground.

He reached over now and took my hand, facing his pack. I could swear the whole room noticed.

“My pack,” he said, voice steady and warm, “this is Lia. My mate. My Luna.”

A wave of whispers swept through the crowd. Some shocked, some excited, some just… confused.

I didn’t blame them.

This wasn’t the time to announce me yet. Usually, werewolves would do that right before marriage. Or after completing the bond.

For us, it was neither.

And it felt like everyone knew.

“All of you already know her, so I thought it best to make an official announcement. This pack finally has their long awaited Luna-Lia Snow. Daughter of our beloved Goddess, Selene. The Moonborn. Bender of Wills. The Moon’s Lost Daughter. It is only because of her that I still breathe. Our pack couldn’t have asked for someone stronger. Or someone kinder. Please, welcome her as you should.”

Silence fell in the room, and then one by one, everyone bowed.

Every single head lowered in respect, like a silent wave rippling through the room. Knees bent. Eyes lowered. Like I was someone sacred. Someone worth kneeling for.

Something shifted inside me-I didn’t even know how to explain it.

It was like being hit by a rush of wind. Like… power wrapping itself around my skin, flowing straight into my veins. For a second there, I forgot how to breathe.

They were all bowing to me.

Not Zane. Not both of us.

Me.

I felt it. That pull. That strange, magnetic awareness that came with being Luna. My chest tightened and my mind started racing.

Would they do everything I said, the way they followed Zane?

Could I command them?

What if I told everyone to train at midnight? Or if I wanted them to bring me food? Or books? Or… I don’t know, kill someone? Would they do it?

I couldn’t believe how this happened.

How fate had brought me here.

Me. Lia Snow.

The girl who used to hide behind books and eat lunch in the library. The girl who skipped gym because she hated being seen. Now standing here, above a whole pack of werewolves, and they were looking at me like a goddess.

Not just someone’s mate. Not just Zane’s Luna. Their Luna.

It was exhilarating.

Similar to what I’d felt that day, before The Order.

When each of them promised to slit their own throats for me.

I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh or cry.

“Lia?” Zane’s voice cut through the thoughts in my head.

I blinked and turned to him. He gave me a small nod-the kind that said, your turn.

Oh. Right. I was supposed to speak.

I swallowed hard and faced the crowd. My voice didn’t come out as loud as Zane’s, but it held.

“Hi, everyone,” I said, smiling. An odd confidence had seeped through my bones now. A moment ago, I felt terrified. But after seeing the admiration in their gazes, I felt like I belonged here. In front of them. Addressing them. “I’m really excited to be here. This is all still new to me, but I’m looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope I don’t accidentally offend anyone. Or trip. Or both.”

A few people chuckled. Someone whistled. The mood instantly lightened.

I smiled. “Anyway. Thanks for welcoming me. I’ll try to be good Luna. Even if I’m still figuring out what that means.”

More laughter. Some claps. Zane squeezed my hand and leaned closer, whispering, “You’re doing great.”

My heart melted a little.

I looked out again over the sea of faces and spotted Warner near the back. He wasn’t laughing, or smiling. He wasn’t clapping either. He just stood there with this unreadable look on his face. The same look he had in school that day.

I gave him a tight smile, maybe a little too forced. He smiled back, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

I looked away from him, my stomach twisting a little. But as Zane led me down the platform, and the rest of the pack began to greet me with wide grins and excited cheers, it was easy to forget about him.

-WARNER’S POV-

I didn’t see it coming.

Zane hadn’t mentioned anything. Not a single word about her moving in. About announcing her like this. About turning the whole damn pack house upside down overnight.

We were supposed to be his inner circle. His second, third, and fourth. Ajax, Aaron, Sheila, and me. The Hounds. But today, we were just part of the crowd-watching, clapping, pretending we weren’t blindsided.

“Did you know about this?” Sheila whispered.

“Nope,” Aaron said under his breath.

Ajax just whistled low, shaking his head. “Guess we missed the memo.”

We all laughed a little, but it felt weird. Off.

Still, when the moment came, we cheered. We smiled. We bowed like everyone else. Because Zane was our Alpha. And Lia was, technically, our Luna now.

But something about her… I don’t know.

I watched her closely from the back. The way she stood up there, chin a little higher than usual, voice steady, eyes bright. Her hands didn’t fidget. Her words didn’t stammer. She didn’t look nervous.
