Chapter 186 – Their Bullied and Broken Mate by Teri Petry

Fear overtook Slade when Dakota stood before him. I think he truly knew he was done for. Dakota was double the size of Slade, and could easily crush him.

I watched as Dakota stalked Slade, and I overheard Loki say, “He’s a goner. He doesn’t stand a chance. Why doesn’t he submit?” I whispered, “Because he can’t.” It was true, Simon ruled it as to death, and death was the only escape from the situation.

Dakota’s eyes glazed over, signaling that someone was linking him. Who would be linking them during a challenge? Then I saw it, Slade’s eyes were also glazed over. He was speaking to Dakota, and no sooner did their eyes clear, Dakota ripped out Slade’s throat.

What I wasn’t expecting was that before Simon’s body could hit the ground, Miles signaled his men to attack.

The alarms were going crazy throughout Blood Moon, and wolves were now fighting viciously. In both human and wolf form, warriors of the Northern Sun were attacking anyone they didn’t know. They had no idea what pack they were from, and they didn’t care. They were deemed the enemy by their Alpha, and were instructed to win by any means necessary.

I fought off anyone who came near me, killing them one by one. I showed zero mercy, because I knew they wouldn’t show it to me if the shoe was on the other foot.

When I felt myself getting tired, I would think about my mate and our pups. Focusing on making sure they were safe kept me going.

I was being circled by two very large gray wolves, but the sad part was, they didn’t have the scent of the wolves from Northern Star. These wolves were from my own pack. My own men were attacking me, and unfortunately, I didn’t recognize them to be able to reason with them.

“I know you aren’t from another pack. Care to tell your Alpha why you are attacking him?” I asked. They glanced at one another and only one shifted back to human form. I did the same to face the warrior face to face, and what he said struck a nerve. “You aren’t our Alpha. We only pledged allegiance to your father, and his son, the rightful heir, Lance. We don’t accept the bastard son as our Alpha,” he spat.

I started to laugh, and told him that whether he liked the idea or not, I was the Alpha. He was no more than a traitor, just like my brother was. I asked if there were others with him, and he said that it was just him and the wolf with him. This made me laugh even harder, because their ignorance was clear to me.

Without sparing them another thought, I shifted back into my wolf, Zion, and he went in for the attack. The man who had shifted to speak to me instantly lost his life. I spared no mercy and ripped his head off of his shoulders. His friend attacked me immediately and was able to bite into Zion’s ear, ripping part of it off.

I howled in pain, but quickly shook it off and went after the gray wolf. Zion got entangled with the wolf, and they fought each other hard. However, in the end, the gray wolf laid at my feet dead. I tore his throat out with one bite.

His blood had filled my mouth, and the sickening taste of iron caused me to gag. I had never tasted so much blood at one time, and I hoped I never had to again.

I heard a yelp in the distance, and I turned to see a group of wolves getting the better of Loki. Liam was lying on the ground not far from him in human form, and I couldn’t tell if he was alive or not.

I raced towards my mate’s fathers and jumped on the first one I came to. I quickly killed the wolf by twisting his neck. It seemed that no matter how many I killed, more kept coming. Finally, joined by more warriors, we were able to help Loki. Henry and another warrior had shifted and carried both fathers to safety. Liam was alive, but was badly injured.

My eyes darted around the battlefield looking for Maddix and Miles. Miles was nowhere to be found, but I did spot Maddix fighting alongside his uncle Jason. They seemed to have everything under control, and I could also see that we were rapidly going through our attackers.

A small voice came into my mind and all it said was, “Help”. The voice was that of my mate, and I took off towards the library.

When I arrived, what I saw made me furious. Miles had my mate by her hair, and Maddix’s own Beta, George standing with him with a knife to Melian’s throat. “Get Maddix here now!” Miles bellowed.
