Filed To Story: Their Bullied and Broken Mate by Teri Petry
The atmosphere was so heavy that it almost took my breath away. Riley had already started to panic, and the kids were feeding off of both of our energies, causing them to get fussy. “I know this may sound odd, but if you need me to do a small blanket spell to help with the anxiety of everyone, I can,” Ginger offered.
Riley told her she would be appreciative, and I told her that it would probably help. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn’t have adverse reactions to the kids. Luke assured me that it wouldn’t, and that it would only take the edge off of the nerves everyone was feeling. It would help those of us who needed to focus on doing so, and those who were just scared would just feel less afraid.
When everyone got out of the car, Ginger made her way into the center of the courtyard, and raised her hands. She started to chant the spell, and it started to rain slightly. As the rain hit our skin, I instantly felt calmer, and more focused. The kids had stopped being overly fussy, and Riley said her nerves were much calmer.
I walked around the car, and there stood my sister, Adelina. Before I could approach her, Asteria and Alette were by my side. The three of us could only stare at our sister and Phoenix, and without warning, Addie ran into my arms. “I’m so sorry Maddix. I hate myself so much for everything I allowed to happen without helping or telling you. You have all right to hate me, but I have prayed to the goddess that you don’t,” she sobbed.
I pulled away from her and cupped her face. “Addie, I was angry, yes. I am still, a little. However, I could never hate you. I was completely confused by your actions, and you have a lot more apologizing to do to Asteria than me. You allowed her mate to mentally and physically abuse her for months. What happened to us, that was resolved in a matter of a couple of days. Your triplet is pretty damaged by what happened to her. She is going to need you as much as you need her during this time. So, go fix it,” I said.
Her eyes moved to Asteria, who wouldn’t look at her. I called her name and forced her to look at Addie. “You girls are going to have time to fix this in the safe room. Alette, make them fix this. I hate to rush, but according to Ginger, they will be here very soon. I want everyone secure in their place before they arrive. So let’s get this going.” I stated.
Alette took each girl’s arm and led them inside the library. Henry, Celeste and Lindy did an amazing job getting the room ready and comfortable for the women in my family. After this was over, I needed to make sure that they were rewarded for their hard work.
Riley was putting the babies in one of the cribs, and I wrapped my arms around her from behind. I gave her a small squeeze and started to speak to her when I heard the alarms start to wail. I placed my forehead in the middle of her back and said, “I’m sorry babe. Try not to worry, we will come out on top in this. Please watch over Addie and Asteria. I am going to kill their mates if it’s the last thing I do.” She nodded her head and turned to face me.
“They will be fine, you just make sure you are fine, and the rest of our pack. Show them what Blood Moon and those who stand with us are made of. Don’t worry about us, because we are safe here. Focus on the task at hand,” she said, and gently kissed my lips.
I didn’t linger, and left immediately with Damian, Henry and my dads on my heels. My mom was pissed that she was forced to stay in the safe room, but my dads reminded her that those in the safe room needed her there. If they were to break through, Ruby was probably the worst wolf they wanted to run into. She would show zero mercy.
I watched as the 6 guards who would be near the library with instructions to guard it with their lives moved into their places. We were going to place them at the safe room door, but I was reminded that no one even knew the room was there except the higher ranks, Chris, the curator at the library, and his daughter Maizy.
Chris and Maizy were in the room, so that left the higher ranks, and I knew for fact that they would take that secret to their deaths. If you looked at where the room was, you would think it was just a bookshelf. Hidden doors were the main requirement when we built it.
Once the guards were in place, accompanied by many other warriors, I linked Timmy and Gunner, the former and new head warriors, and asked where they were coming in the pack from. Timmy quickly responded and said that they hadn’t fully entered yet. He then said that Miles and Simon along with about 40 warriors were waiting for me at the front gates.
I relayed the situation to Damian and the others and my brother-in-law popped off with, “What? Do they want you to invite them in?” I just shook my head and chuckled. This tactic right here shows how inexperienced, untrained and unknowing Miles and Simon really are.
“Let’s go find out if that’s what they are waiting for,” I replied.
At the gate, the situation was just as Timmy described. Damian, Jason and I casually strolled up to the scene and stopped about 100 feet from where they stood.
“Can I help you gentlemen?” I asked. The look on their faces said they weren’t expecting us to be there. So that tells me that they were expecting to attack Blood Moon without the protection of their Alpha. A surprise attack, so to speak.
“Maddix? I thought you were still at Spirit Mountain. I guess this works out for the best then. As you obviously know, Simon has come to take what is rightfully Asteria and his. She is the rightful blood heir, which makes Simon, her mate, the rightful Alpha.” Miles spat.
