“Just to make your mother feel better, she doesn’t want your grandmother to owe anyone any favors.

So, why not give them a bigger favor instead? Whether it’s money or a position, it’s all trivial to me.

Since it’s a small matter, why not do it in a way that makes your mother happy?” That’s how Harley’s father answered her at the time.

“But I don’t like how Laurel is always sticking to me, acting all sycophantic,” Harley said unhappily. The way Laurel looked at her always gave her the feeling that he was up to no good.

“From now on, just try to avoid him as much as possible. Also, it’s great that you can distinguish between genuine intentions and ulterior motives. As the heir to the Hart family, many people won’t be sincere with you, simply because you’re beneficial to them. But don’t feel sad about it. In life, everyone can’t treat you with sincerity. Finding just one person who does is actually enough.”

At this moment, faced with Laurel’s somewhat lecherous gaze, a hint of disgust flashed in Harley’s eyes: “What a coincidence, I’m here to have dinner with a friend, so let’s not chat for now.”

“Let’s get going, Calvert,” Harley said, eager to leave. She really wasn’t in the mood for small talk with

Laurel.

She wanted to leave, but there was no way Laurel was going to let Harley just walk away like that.

Laurel immediately stepped forward, blocking Harley’s path: “Since it’s just a meal, why don’t we eat together? Coincidentally, I’m also having dinner with a few kids who are my dad’s colleagues today.

They’re all employees of the corporation, so we’re practically family!”

Laurel tried to hold Harley’s hand with a smile, but Harley dodged it directly.

“I know exactly who my family members are,” Harley said. “And, I just wanted to have a meal alone with my friend today. I don’t want anyone unrelated to interfere.”

Laurel’s face fell, “Do you think I’m irrelevant? We’re relatives, after all.”

At this moment, someone who had been dining with Laurel came out. Seeing Laurel in conversation with Harley, they immediately walked over.

Seeing someone approaching, Laurel’s expression changed again, revealing a beaming smile.

“Harley, let’s have a meal together. As relatives, you wouldn’t deny me this small favor, would you?”

The disgust in Harley’s eyes deepened. This Laurel was clearly trying to use her to show off. He had been going around the company claiming to be a relative of the Harley family, using this connection to gain advantages.

If it weren’t for the fact that the Blair family had once helped my grandmother, with their work capabilities, they would have been unable to stay in the corporation for long.

Seeing Harley still acting indifferent, Laurel once again reached out, trying to pull Harley towards her.

In Laurel’s view, with others present, especially the children of the group’s senior executives who had met Harley before, Harley naturally wouldn’t make the situation awkward in front of them.

As long as Harley obediently went to dinner with him, then naturally, the relationship between the Blair family and the Hart family would be further highlighted within the group.

For the Blair family, this was naturally a great opportunity to ride on someone else’s coattails!

Moreover, now that Harley had broken off her engagement, it was common knowledge within the group. If Laurel could somehow manage to charm this princess of the Hart family, then his future would be on the up and up!

Even the entire Hart family’s estate would be his in the future!

With this in mind, the way Laurel looked at Harley became even more intense!

What caught him off guard, however, was that Harley didn’t seem to have any intention of saving his face at this moment.

“My last name is Hart, yours is Blair. We’re not related in any way. Even if your family and my grandmother’s family are from the same village, there’s no blood relation between us,” Harley stated bluntly.

Laurel’s face suddenly turned extremely unpleasant, and those who walked over looked at Laurel with surprise.

After all, they often heard Laurel saying that the Blair family and the Hart family were relatives.

It was precisely because they cared about the familial ties between the Blair family and the Hart family that these people usually showed respect to Laurel.

Otherwise, how could a person with a low level of education, who came from a small village, possibly have been popular among the children of these middle-class elite families!

“What…what did you say?” Laurel asked, her face turning red.

“I’ve made myself perfectly clear. I’d appreciate it if you’d stop telling people we’re related. We’re not,”

Harley said, before turning to Calvert, who was standing there dumbfounded, and heading towards the private room.

Laurel was fuming with embarrassment. “Harley, you were dumped by Lornell, so you just picked up some random guy to keep, didn’t you? If others found out that the princess of the Hart family is supporting a man, I wonder if it would make the headlines!”

Harley paused, feeling the wrist he was holding stiffen incredibly. The owner of the wrist, at this moment, had a face as pale as a sheet.

Harley turned around, staring coldly at Laurel: “I didn’t realize your mind was so filthy! Would I having a meal with my friend make the headlines? Filthy people think filthy thoughts. People like you, I hope to never see you again!”

As soon as Harley said this, not only did Laurel’s face change, but even the others next to Laurel also changed their expressions.

When Harley said this, he was completely drawing a line between himself and Laurel. For the little princess of the Hart family to say such a thing, signifies that it would be difficult for the Blair family to survive in the corporation in the future. And if they were to maintain a relationship with Laurel, their own family might get implicated as well.

After all, their parents were also middle and senior executives at Hart Group.

After saying that, Harley immediately pulled Calvert into the private room.

The people outside exchanged glances, then looked at Laurel, whose face was flushed with anger.

After a while, someone who usually had a good relationship with Laurel stepped forward and said,

“Miss Hart must have said that because she was too angry. If you and your parents go to the Hart family and apologize, it should be fine.”

Laurel could only nod resentfully, her gaze fixed on the private room door that Harley had just entered.

He couldn’t believe that Harley had brought a man to dinner. Could it have been that this man was the real reason behind the end of the engagement between the Hart family and the Quentin family?

Maybe he should have figured out who that man was.

Inside the private room, Harley looked at the bewildered Calvert and said, “Just ignore what that guy just said, treat it like he was talking nonsense, don’t worry about it!”

Calvert stared blankly at Harley, wanting to speak but hesitating.

“What’s wrong?” Harley asked, “Did I say something incorrect just now?”

“No!” Calvert quickly said, “I just didn’t expect you to say…”

Calvert felt a bit embarrassed to continue.

Harley suddenly realized, “Are you referring to the term ‘fart’?”

Calvert looked extremely awkward.

On the other hand, Harley was quite nonchalant, “I’m not like those rich daughters you see in movies or

TV shows. If you spend more time with me, you’ll find that I’m no different from ordinary people, except maybe my family is a bit wealthier.”

Perhaps if Calvert had spent more time with her, he would have realized that her personality was actually quite ordinary. She was neither particularly noble and elegant, nor was she capricious and willful.

“How can that be, you’re not ordinary at all,” Calvert said, wondering in his heart if what Harley just said meant that he would have a chance to be with her in the future.

And it wasn’t like they went their separate ways after this meal!

Harley chuckled, “Thanks, but my best friends always say that my personality is like plain water.”

Perhaps it was for this reason that Lornell never fell in love with her, not even the slightest bit of affection that usually exists between a man and a woman.

Thinking of Lornell, Harley’s expression turned gloomy. Then she told herself in her heart to stop thinking about it, she and Lornell were completely over.

“By the way, what would you like to eat?” Harley changed the subject, pushing the menu towards

Calvert.

“I can eat anything,” Calvert replied. Everything here felt like a whole new world to him.

It seemed like Harley noticed his discomfort, so she took the initiative to order some dishes.

“You don’t need to feel uncomfortable,” Harley said. “I brought you here to eat because I think the food is pretty good. But if you really don’t like it here, we can go somewhere else.”

“No need!” Calvert quickly said.

Soon, the dishes started to arrive one after another.

Calvert was eating quietly, head bowed. On the other hand, Harley was sizing him up while eating.

Now, the wounds on Calvert’s face had healed, revealing his naturally handsome features. Even

Harley, who was used to seeing handsome men in the entertainment industry, had to admit that it was indeed an exceptional face.

If Calvert were to enter the film and television industry, with enough financial backing, he should be able to become famous pretty quickly.

Calvert was pretty tall. When standing, Harley was just barely taller than his shoulder.

Harley stood at around 163 cm tall, while Calvert was probably around 185 cm.

As for his physique, Calvert seemed quite thin and probably didn’t have much muscle.

“Why are you always looking at me?” Calvert’s voice rang out.

“I’m thinking about your body…” Harley blurted out, but as soon as the words left her mouth, she realized something was off!

In a blink of an eye, she saw Calvert, his face now flushed red.

“No, no, that’s not what I meant. I wasn’t thinking anything inappropriate. I was just thinking that you seem a bit too thin, not much flesh on your bones. It might not give a good impression to others,”

Harley quickly explained.

The blush on Calvert’s face quickly faded, turning into a pale hue. “I… I know,” he said, “My physical condition is indeed hard for people to accept.”

Calvert was covered in so many wounds that sometimes he could hardly bear to look at them, let alone someone like Harley. He was just grateful that at least his face was unscathed at the moment.

Harley found that the more he tried to explain, the worse it seemed: “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your body. I just think you have a great physical appearance. If you could build up some more muscle, you might be able to break into the entertainment industry, maybe as a model or an actor!”

Calvert was taken aback: “Me, a model and an actor?”

“Mmm, you’re very beautiful, but it’s not that soft, feminine beauty. It’s a kind of androgynous beauty.

This kind of look is very popular in the entertainment industry right now,” she said.

After all, Harley, being the big princess of the entertainment industry, naturally understood these popular trends very well.

Calvert pursed his thin lips, lowering his eyelids slightly, “How could I possibly do these things? My field of study isn’t related to this at all.”

“You could hire a professional teacher for guidance,” she suggested. “Nowadays, many models or actors didn’t originally study in this field. If you’re truly interested in entering this industry, I can help you.”
