she gestured towards one of the bedrooms.

“Upstairs?”

I thought it was strange but I went upstairs.

Unbeknownst to me after I left, Reuben came out of the kitchen to the living room and hugged Willow’s waist from the side, watching my vanishing back.

“Did we do that right?”

Willow looked at him worriedly.

“Yeah, don’t worry,”

he smiled at her concerned face and gently nipped her nose, “Let’s go.”

Later, when I entered the room looking for Reuben, I froze in place when the person in front of him was not Reuben but…

“Ella…”

Alpha Adam called me lovingly.

I felt my emotions fluctuate all over the place when I saw his face after so long. He looked so messed up that he could have easily been mistaken for a homeless person.

“Why are you here?”

My voice was barely above the whisper.

“I requested this favor of Reuben,”

he gently placed a hand on my head. It felt so warm that it made me realize that I had been wrong all along. Not everyone had left me. There had always been one person that was watching out for me even though I had told him that I hated him and did not want anything to do with him. He put his ego aside and had been living in Emerald Bright just to be close to me. “Ella, I know you hate me, and don’t wish to see me ever again but I just wanted to see you this one last time, my girl.”

The guilt of his crimes against me and my ignorance had broken his heart. He looked like someone that had given up the will to live. My heart grew heavier as my eyes watered. “Dad is.. I mean… I am really sorry for being such a horrible father to you. I destroyed your life with my own two hands. I deserve your hate but you do have a bright future ahead. So I want to make sure you don’t get discouraged. Everyone makes mistakes, there are only a few people that are willing to accept them and seek redemption. You are one of those precious gems, Ella,”

he smiled, kissing my forehead. “Go and find your happiness, my girl.”

Listening to him, I broke down into tears and could not stop myself from hugging him. “You too, I don’t want you to feel guilty. I forgive you.”

He could not stop his tears either as he hugged me tightly but no words came from his mouth. I pulled away from him and wiped at his tears. “I don’t want to be sad right now. If you want me to move one then please move on with your life too,”

I requested.

He nodded, his eyes red and teary. I held his hand and looked deep into his eyes, “I am not leaving you. I am just going to do something that will secure my future. One day, I will return and then we will live together,”

I stated, surprising him.

“Are you sure? You will come home to dad… I mean you will return to me?”

I nodded with a smile, “Yes, I will be back soon so wait for me in this house. Stay safe and be happy.”

His lifeless face and eyes beamed with hope. Something that I craved to see.

Some time later, I walked out of my house with Alpha Adam. I had already called a taxi that was waiting for me in front of the house. Reuben, Willow, and Oran stood by the taxi waiting for me, their lips spread in wide smiles to see the two of us together.

“Don’t forget to drop me a message once in a while,”

Willow remarked, hugging me. I nodded.

“This hug is from Bix and I,”

Oran gave a big hug. I giggled.

Reuben and I did not hug each other. “Take care,”

he remarked, as we shook hands.

“Thanks,”

I smiled, then gave one last hug to Alpha Adam before I got into the taxi.

As the taxi began to pull away, I could not help but look back at everyone. I was so thankful to the Goddess that I had so many beautiful people in my life. Especially… my father. I smiled at him, waving goodbye.

He was surprised and immediately waved in return but this time his face was filled with happiness rather than tears.

I wiped my tears away and calmed my emotions as the taxi finally exited the Emerald Bright territory.

Now my path was set for the airport. I looked out of the window the entire way, unable to shake the feeling that something was missing. I didn’t even realize forty minutes had passed when the taxi halted at the airport.

I got out, once I stood outside the airport with my luggage, I finally realized that I didn’t really want to go. I felt lonely…

“I am not late, am I?”

A familiar voice entered my ears. Surprised, I immediately looked over to find Walter standing there with his luggage.

“Why are you here?”

My eyes were wide and my heart was beating faster.

“Is it not obvious?”

he drew closer then pulled me into his chest. “We are going together.”

“Together?”

I gasped, my voice barely above the whisper.

“Yes, after all lovers live together, right?”

He touched my cheek, his eyes filled with emotion when he confessed, “I love you, Ella. Do you love this hunter that can’t live without you?”

My heart drummed rapidly in my chest out of shock as the world around us seemed to disappear. “I am a werewolf and you are a hunter,”

I whispered.

“We are just lovers,”

he whispered back, leaning closer to my face.

“People will not accept us,”

I felt my breathing become erratic with our proximity.
