With that in mind, Walter switched his gaze to Tina.
If this woman was really the daughter of the Stephenson family, then everything would make sense!
Trembling, Walter said, “You are Mr. Hunter?”
“It seems that you do know who I am,” Chandler said coldly, “So, what do you plan to do now?”
Walter felt a chill running up from his feet to his spine.
Chandler Hunter of the Hunter family!
He was someone Walter couldn’t afford to provoke.
It was said that anyone who angered Chandler never had a good outcome!
“Mr. Hunter, I was also thinking of your best interests. This Kit is not a good person. He somehow seduced my mother, and now he seems to have hooked up with Miss. Stephenson. I couldn’t stand by and watch, so I did this!” Walter desperately tried to shift the blame onto Tina and Kit, hoping Chandler would spare him.
“You’re talking nonsense!” Tina exclaimed angrily. “Chandler…”
Chandler looked at Tina, who was eager to explain. “Tina, you don’t need to say anything. I understand it all!”
With that, he looked at Walter again. “Are you planning to leave Emerald City on your own, or do you want me to chase you out? From now on, I don’t plan on seeing you in Emerald City again.”
Walter’s face changed, realizing he could no longer stay in Emerald City.
The only advantage was that his life was spared!
He hurriedly walked away toward the end of the alley, and his henchmen naturally followed.
“By the way!” Chandler’s voice suddenly rang out. “If I hear any rumors or gossip about Tina from you in the future, I will make sure you won’t be able to utter a single word!”
Walter’s face turned pale as he could only nod and obediently say, “Yes…yes…”
After Walter and his henchmen left, Chandler walked up to Tina and Kit. He glanced at Kit, who was covered in injuries, and said to Tina, “Let me help him up.”
Tina was taken aback, witnessing Chandler bend down and assist Kit.
Even Kit was stunned, seemingly not expecting Chandler to willingly help him up.
“I’ll take him to the hospital,” Chandler said.
“I’ll go with you!” Tina snapped back to reality and said.
Chandler glanced at her. He didn’t say anything, and just walked out of the alley while supporting Kit.
After the three of them got in the car, Chandler drove to the nearby hospital.
Kit, who was in pain and mentally relaxed, had already passed out.
Tina said to Chandler, “Thank you for everything today.”
“Why are you thanking me?” Chandler asked.
“Thank you for helping me and Kit in the alley,” Tina said, “and for taking him to the hospital now.”
Chandler pursed his lips. “You’re my wife, so there’s no need for you to thank me for helping you out in the alley. Isn’t it the husband’s duty to help his wife?”
Tina was taken aback.
“As for me helping Kit and taking him to the hospital, if anyone should be grateful, it should be him. He should be thanking me when he wakes up, not you,” He added.
Tina felt that Chandler’s voice had a kind of coldness that she had never heard before.
“Are you angry?” she asked cautiously.
Chandler sighed. “I’m not angry. Don’t think too much. We’ll be at the hospital soon!”
Then both of them stopped talking.
True enough, they arrived at the hospital quickly, and medical staff placed Kit on a moving stretcher for emergency treatment.
Tina and Chandler stood outside the emergency room.
Tina looked at Chandler, who had almost no expression on his face and approached him, saying, “I’m really sorry for today. We didn’t get to see the exhibition.”
“It’s okay. We can see it next time,” he said in a flat tone.
Chandler’s coldness made Tina feel uncomfortable.
He said he wasn’t angry, but she always felt that he was. Tina wondered how she handled situations like this in the past.
Unfortunately, she had no memories of her past, so she naturally didn’t know how to handle it.
All she could do was explain, “I was waiting for you at the exhibition hall. Then I saw Kit leaving with that man, and heard someone say that someone was beaten in the alley. So I went to take a look and saw Kit being beaten by that person’s men.”
“But what that man said wasn’t true. Kit didn’t seduce that man’s mother. I had heard Kit’s father ask him to be that man’s mother’s toy boy before, but Kit refused. He didn’t want to rely on that kind of man to make money. He said he didn’t need a luxurious life, he just wanted to earn a living through his own efforts!”
“I even suggested that the Stephenson family could help him, but he also refused. A person like him couldn’t possibly seduce that man’s mother.”
Tina kept explaining, while Chandler quietly listened to her.
He understood that she was hoping he wouldn’t misunderstand her, that he wouldn’t get angry.
But Chandler wasn’t actually angry. In fact, he was jealous.
He was jealous that she would protect Kit so recklessly, regardless of her own safety.
Did she ever consider what would have happened if he hadn’t shown up in time? She might be lying in the emergency room right now, just like Kit! Even though she had faced so many difficulties in the past, why did she still rush into danger like this?
Was she not afraid of death? Or was she just too concerned about Kit?
Whenever he thought about these questions, he would be consumed by jealousy.
He was practically using all his rationality and self-control to suppress this jealousy!
Finally, after Tina finished speaking for a long time, she said, “I’ve said everything. It’s just like that. It’s just that I… even though he deceived me, he also helped me. Now that one of his hands is disabled, I just wanted to help him. There’s really nothing between him and me.”
Chandler stared at the person in front of him. If there really was nothing, then how could she risk her life to save Kit?
If it was truly nothing, at most she would have helped call the police, not face the danger of being beaten!
But her first reaction was not to call the police but to go straight to him.
Tina cautiously looked at Chandler, observing his expression. “Do you believe what I said?”
“I believe you,” he said.
Tina never liked to lie, so she truly believed that there was nothing between her and Kit.
But perhaps this was something that only a third person could see clearly.
Tina finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Just then, the doctor who was treating Kit’s injuries came out and said, “The patient seems to only have some minor external injuries and a slight concussion. We need to do further examinations to determine if there are any internal injuries. For now, he needs to be hospitalized for treatment.”
“Whoever is the patient’s family member, please come with me to complete the hospital admission procedures,” said the nurse next to the doctor.
Family member?
Tina thought about Kit’s father, but that man didn’t deserve to be called a father!
If she let that man come and handle the hospital admission procedures for Kit, who knows what might happen.
“I’m his friend, I’ll handle the admission procedures,” Tina stepped forward and said.
“Alright, please follow me,” the nurse said.
Just as Tina was about to follow the nurse to handle the admission procedures, Chandler suddenly spoke up, “I’ll go, you stay here and rest.”
Before Tina could react, Chandler had already followed the nurse to handle the admission procedures.
And what Tina didn’t expect was that Chandler had arranged for Kit to be in a VIP ward.
Although the cost of a VIP ward was nothing to him, he had never liked Kit, right?
Looking at Kit lying in the hospital bed, Tina said to Chandler, “Thank you.”
Chandler replied, “Tina, stop thanking me for Kit. I’ve said it before, if anyone should say thank you, it should be him, not me.”
After saying this, he looked at her and asked, “What about you? Are you going to leave the hospital with me now, or…”
“I…” Tina bit her lip. Kit’s current condition made her feel uneasy.
It seemed like he understood what she was thinking, and he said, “Then I’ll go back first. I’ve already arranged for a caregiver to take care of Kit 24/7.”
After saying this, Chandler hurriedly left.
If he stayed any longer, he was afraid that his jealousy would erupt and he would do something he would regret!
In the hospital room, Tina suddenly felt a heavy weight on her chest, as if something was pressing down on her, making it hard for her to breathe.
Chandler’s departing figure made her feel so uncomfortable.
Should she not have stayed here?
Tina called home and informed them that Kit had been beaten up in an alley and that she was currently at the hospital with him.
“Are you hurt?” Lina asked worriedly.
“I’m fine,” Tina replied.
“Then I’ll come pick you up now!” Lina said hurriedly.
“No need, I’ll come back after Kit wakes up. The doctor said he’ll wake up in a while,” Tina said.
Lina sighed slightly over the phone, “Alright then, I’ll have the driver wait at the hospital to pick you up later.”
“Okay,” Tina agreed.
After ending the call with her mother, she turned and walked to the bedside, looking down at Kit lying on the hospital bed.
