Kit heard his father gasping for breath beside him.
Slowly, he opened his eyes and saw a figure standing in front of him. It was hard for him to believe his eyes.
It was Tina!
Tina had suddenly appeared before him and had even grabbed hold of Edmond’s hand, preventing him from striking.
“Miss. Stephenson!” Edmond exclaimed, surprised.
“I never expected Mr. Ingram to show me something like this. To what extent can a father go to harm his own son?” Tina said coldly.
Edmond frowned, with the Stephenson family and the Hunter family behind Tina, he naturally couldn’t easily offend them.
Therefore, after thinking for a moment, a smile appeared on Edmond’s face: “I think Miss. Stephenson may have misunderstood. I just wanted to find someone for Kit to rely on, considering his disability.”
“Is that so?” Tina sneered, “Then Mr. Ingram, you don’t have to worry about this. Even if he is disabled, he doesn’t have to worry about his livelihood. The Stephenson family can naturally be his support in the future!”
As soon as Tina said this, both Edmond and Kit were shocked.
Kit, in particular, never expected Tina to say such words.
Rely on? Would the Stephenson family be his support?
He had deceived her so much, the Stephenson family would probably hate him very much, so how could they become his support?
Edmond awkwardly withdrew his hand and forced a smile: “Since Miss. Stephenson cares about our
Kit like this, then I naturally have no objections. I have something to do today, so I’ll leave now.”
After speaking, Edmond left on his own.
In the apartment, only Tina and Kit were left.
Kit greedily looked at Tina. He had thought that he would never see her again, but he didn’t expect her to appear in front of him like this.
It felt like an illusion!
Kit unconsciously reached out his hand towards Tina’s face, wanting to touch her, wanting to confirm if she was real or if all of this was just his delusion!
However, just as his hand was about to touch her, she suddenly stepped back, instantly sobering him up like a bucket of cold water.
Kit slowly lowered his hand and looked at Tina with bitterness: “Miss. Stephenson, hello.”
This “Miss. Stephenson” made Tina feel a difficult-to-describe discomfort in her heart.
In her memory, Kit used to call her “Tina.” During their time in the small town, they were so close. She regarded him as her only family, her only love, her only support in this world.
But in the end, what destroyed all her feelings for him was his lies.
“I happened to be at the door just now, and since the door wasn’t closed, I came in,” Tina said, somewhat uneasily biting her lip.
Kit immediately explained, “I must have forgotten to close the door properly.”
“You…” Tina’s gaze fell on Kit’s right hand.
She knew that his hand was disabled.
As if noticing where her gaze was, he said lightly, “It’s just an inconvenience with one hand, but it doesn’t pose a big problem in life. The doctor said that as long as I rehabilitate properly, I can still regain some function.”
“Are you facing financial difficulties now?” Tina took a deep breath and asked.
Kit smiled bitterly, “Don’t worry, I’ve been working for several years and have some savings. Life isn’t difficult for me right now. I won’t take up my father’s proposal!”
Now, all he had left was just a bit of dignity.
“Did your father treat you like this before?” Tina hesitated and asked.
“Yes, he only saw me as a tool. I spent time in the orphanage until I was 8. If he didn’t think I looked decent and could be cultivated, maybe I would still be in the orphanage now,” he said.
Silence filled the air.
Kit continued, “I know what you said to my father about the Stephenson family being my support was just to help me. I won’t take it seriously, so Miss. Stephenson can rest assured.”
After a few seconds of silence, Tina said, “What I said to your father wasn’t a joke. You lied to me, which is despicable, but you also saved me twice, once in the village and once during the car accident, so…”
“I refuse,” Kit interrupted.
Tina looked at him with a surprised expression.
“I may be physically disabled, but it doesn’t mean I can’t do anything. I still have my other hand, my two feet, and a functioning brain. I can do many things to support myself,” Kit said. “Besides, I don’t plan on living a luxurious life, so I don’t need to rely on the Stephenson family.”
He didn’t want to lose even the last bit of dignity in front of her!
Having the Stephenson family as a support may be a dream come true for many, but for him, it might only bring pain.
Tina’s gaze fell on Kit’s disabled right hand again. “So, have you thought about what kind of work you want to do?”
“I plan to start by composing some songs. I’ve always been interested in that. It’s just that I was too busy with work before and never had the chance to focus on it,” Kit replied. “Now, I finally have the time.”
“Eugenia told me about some of our past and showed me some posters and autographed photos you gave me. It seems like I really liked you back then, but that was just…”
“I know, it was just the admiration of a fan for an idol,” Kit sighed, feeling helpless. “How are you and
Chandler doing now?”
“We’re doing fine,” she said.
He forced a bitter smile and self-mockingly said, “Of course, you two were deeply in love. Even if you lost your memory, I temporarily deceived you with lies, but people who love each other will eventually find their way back.”
Tina was momentarily stunned.
Did they really love each other once? Even if memories were forgotten, would they still love each other?
“It would have been nice if you hadn’t lied to me back then,” Tina murmured.
Kit remained silent, not answering her.
Deceiving her was his biggest lie in life, and he regretted it. It was because of that final car accident. If he hadn’t deceived her, she wouldn’t have been hurt.
But at the same time, he missed the times when he deceived her and the moments they spent together.
Those moments were the most precious memories of his life.
“Is there something you came to see me for today?” Kit finally asked after a long pause.
“I just wanted to come and see how you’re doing and thank you for saving me. So, if you have any difficulties and need my help, I’ll be there,” Tina said.
Kit’s eyelashes trembled, and his lips quivered slightly. In the end, all he managed to say was, “Thank you.”
“Do you need me to find a better doctor for your hand to have further treatment?” Tina asked, considering the abilities of the Stephenson family to provide him with better medical care.
“No, it’s not necessary. The doctor who is currently treating me is an expert with extensive experience.
I’m making good progress with my rehabilitation under his care,” Kit replied.
“Alright then,” Tina said, intending to turn and leave.
But in the next moment, Kit’s left hand grabbed her wrist.
“Is there something else?” Tina turned to look at Kit.
Kit’s hand trembled, and with some difficulty, he let go of her fingers. He had only grabbed her wrist instinctively when he saw her about to leave. He was afraid of her walking away like that.
But she was supposed to leave, wasn’t she?
She never belonged to him in the first place!
“There’s nothing. I just hope Miss Stephenson won’t come to see me anymore,” Kit said.
Because if she did, she would only see more of his shameful side, and it would make his once-dead heart greedy again.
Tina glanced at Kit and after a while, she said, “Alright, I understand.”
Kit smiled and slowly let go of her hand.
After Tina left, Kit sat weakly on the sofa, his normal left hand supporting his forehead. He laughed bitterly, “Haha… haha…”
As tears welled up, he tasted the salty flavor.
Whether it was before Tina’s amnesia or after, he always showed her his vulnerable side.
If only she could see his good side.
He wished she could only remember him as someone wonderful.
So it’s better not to see each other anymore! Even though he really wants to see her, it’s still better not to see each other anymore. Maybe that’s for the best!
Tina left Kit’s place and went to Chandler’s place.
Chandler was flipping through a book in the living room of the villa. When he saw Tina, he immediately put down the book and walked up to her. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
Tina looked at the man in front of her, his face clearly showing concern. “Do you think something’s wrong with me?”
“I can sense that you’re unhappy. If there’s any trouble, you can tell me and I’ll help you solve it,”
Chandler said.
Tina didn’t expect him to be able to see through her unhappiness. She thought she was hiding her emotions well.
Is it because he used to know her so well?
“I went to see Kit today,” Tina didn’t hide anything and told him the truth.
Chandler was taken aback, seeming a bit surprised. “So, did something unhappy happen when you saw Kit?”
“Don’t you want to know why I went to see him?” she asked.
“You have your reasons for seeing him. You’ve never liked others asking you too many questions,”
Chandler said.
