When I sat next to Riley, she leaned in and gently kissed my lips. The sparks that ignited between us when our lips touched reminded me how deeply I loved her. “I love you, Riley,” I told her. She smiled and put her hand on my cheek. “I love you too, Mads,” She replied.
Not long after, my sister and her mate entered the room. Everyone stared in wonder as Damian led his Luna onto the stage. They were met there by a Royal Council elder, and the ceremony went off without a hitch. That is until the middle of dinner.
“Shit! Um, Maddix, Mrs. Maddix? Micah’s water broke,” Buck exclaimed as he started to panic.
Riley and I jumped up to help them, and when Alette learned what was going on, she was right in the midst of things.
Micah kept apologizing for ruining Lette’s night, but my sister kept insisting she didn’t ruin anything. She had just made it better. “Come sweetie, no more apologizing alright? We have a baby to meet,” my sister said cheerfully.
Micah finally stopped, and together Alette and her best friend hobbled as fast as they could to a car. Buck, Damian and I hurried behind them, and we piled in as Damian sped off towards the pack hospital. Buck was coaching Micah with her breathing and Alette just rubbed her head and shoulders while whispering soft words of encouragement to her friend. “Our babies are going to grow up to be best friends just like us. How cool is that?” she laughed.
Micah flashed a smile at my sister, my pregnant little sister, and laughed along with her. Buck didn’t even wait for the wheelchair when we finally reached our destination, he just picked her up and carried her from the car. Damian and I laughed at the spectacle before us. Poor Buck looked like a worried hen the way he was carrying on. You would think he was the one about to pop a baby out.
The three of them ran in before us, and Damian and I casually followed. “You ready to be an uncle? I asked “Are you?” he replied. I nodded and walked faster towards the door. Damian came flying up behind me and slapped me on the back, “Race you,” he laughed, and we both started to run towards the waiting room.
“Alphas!” the receptionist yelled at us. Acting like a couple of school boys, we got ourselves together and apologized to the nice lady. “We are truly sorry, Agatha. We will behave,” Damian said. I just cocked my eyebrow at him and wasn’t sure we could or would be able to keep this promise.
*Alette POV*
After reciting my vows to not only my pack, but also the love of my life, we announced the dinner portion of the ceremony. I had noticed that Micah had been acting odd all night, but until she announced her water had broken, I had no clue why.
When Buck started to panic, I started to panic. My best friend is having her baby, and on my Luna coronation day. It would be a day we would both remember forever. She kept apologizing to me, and I finally had to insist that she stop. It made me feel bad that she felt bad.
We were both trying to comfort each other, and Buck at the same time. I’m sure it was humorous to the others, but to us, it was pretty serious. Eventually, Buck got to be too much and Micah and I both had to giggle. “You would think he was the one about to push this child’s big head out of his man vagina,” Micah laughed through her pain.
“You would think,” I replied. I pulled her close to me and whispered, “You got lucky in the mate department. You have a good man, we both do. A far cry from the jerks we have dealt with in the past.”
She just nodded her head and squeezed her eyes together. As soon as we pulled in front of the hospital, Micah wasn’t given a chance to let her feet touch the ground. Buck whisked her up into his arms, and carried her bridal style into the building. They were quickly led into the maternity ward, and we all raced behind them. At least I did. I overheard the lady at the desk yell at Damian and Maddix about running in a hospital hall, but I didn’t stop to wait for them.
As I was about to follow Buck and Micah through the door, the nurse stopped me. “I’m sorry Luna, only Buck can come in,” she said. I started to protest, but Buck beat me to it. “Let the Luna in NOW!” he bellowed. “She is just as much a support system for my mate as I am. How dare you refuse your Luna access to anything, anywhere in this pack? Now get the damn doc,” he finished.
I love Buck like my brothers, but damn, I do not want to piss him off. She threw her hands up and did as Buck instructed. I had to find Micah a gown because she left so quickly.
Buck held onto his mate while I helped her change. The contractions were coming hard and fast. While we were dressing her, she was hit with a very bad one, and it caused her knees to buckle. Holding her tight under her arms, Buck kept her from falling. Moving her back to the bed slowly, she let out another cry of pain. This time, there was a gush of blood that came from between her legs.
