Filed To Story: Their Bullied and Broken Mate by Teri Petry
Liam shifted and Loki placed the kids on his back. We all followed suit in the shifting, and we made our way back to the pack house.
When we walked in, it looked like someone had thrown dark gray and silver toilet paper everywhere. Dark purple flowers with white and silver accents were placed delicately around the room, and all the tables adorned dark gray and plum linens. It honestly looked amazing.
Liam, Loki and Jason took the children to be cleaned up, and we decided to allow them to attend the party. They may have been born rogue, but there was no reason for them to be treated unfairly for it.
The rest of me and the guys went to one of the guest rooms to get ready, and Maddix brought out the whiskey. “A toast!” he exclaimed. “To finally making my sister an honest woman, and to making your self an even more honest man! Cheers!” he laughed and shot the liquid down his throat.
*Maddix POV*
With the past few months being utter shit, I felt the need to maybe get a little drunk. The gathering of men in the guest room got a little rowdy, and mom had to come calm us down. Needless to say, she was a little annoyed and even more pissed off.
“This is Alette’s day you assholes. Get your shit together and quit being a bunch of idiots!” She yelled as she stuck her head in the door. We each glanced at each other, and once my eyes fell on my dads and Damian, I had to release the laugh I was holding. They all three looked like they were just told they were the worst people in the world.
My laughter set off the rest, and that was a HUGE mistake on my part. Mom marched her short little legs straight towards me and punched me dead in the arm. “Maddix! You are an Alpha, start acting like it! Most of you here are either Alphas or of Alpha blood. Acting a fool on a Luna’s special day is awful. You should be ashamed of yourselves,” she screeched.
We all became silent, and were slightly afraid to speak. “Sorry, mom,” was all I could say. She cocked her hip and put her hand on it. “It’s fine. She is driving me and Ruby crazy. Where the hell is that bottle?” she asked.
River slowly handed her the bottle, and Caleb handed her an empty glass. She thanked them both, but refused the glass. She then took the bottle to her lips and took a nice long guzzle of the amber liquid. None of us had ever seen her drink like that, so it definitely sunk in that my sisters were on my mom’s nerves, not us.
“Damn, mom,” I heard River gasp. She whipped her head around to face him and replied, “River, if you cannot accept that fact that your mom can drink more than you, then maybe you shouldn’t be drinking in the first place.” River’s body stiffened, and you could see the realization spread across mom’s face. He technically wasn’t old enough to drink, but his mate was.
Mom was having a hard time with River finding his mate, and not because of what most would think. She didn’t care that Caleb was a male, it was more so that her baby had moved away from home to be with his mate.
“Maddix, all of you are grown,” she whispered. I offered to be the one to walk mom out, but my dads took over. I was kind of relieved because I had no idea how to deal with a distraught Melian Young. “We are mom, but we are still your babies. We always will be. Now, go with my dads to check on things. We will be down in 15 minutes. Can you let Melissa know? Please?” I asked her.
She just nodded her head, and my dads walked her out. “Whew, that was slightly tense,” Buck said. Damian just shook his head. “They say Alette is the most like momma Mel. Great,” he sighed. It shouldn’t have, but that was one comment that deserved a good chuckle.
True to my word, I got Damian downstairs in the 15 minutes I promised. Mom, Melissa, Marion and the other girls did a fantastic job. Everything looked super gothic, but classy. Just like everything else in the Spirit Mountain pack with the dark plum purple, dark grays and silvers. I slapped Damian on the back and asked if he was ready, and he said that he was more ready than he thought he would be.
The string quartet started to play Damian and Alette’s song, “Fall For You” by Secondhand Serenade. The rest of the guys made their way into the ballroom where the ceremony was taking place, and Damian was left standing waiting for his Luna. “Here she comes,” I said. When he turned to look, I heard a gasp leave his lips. “She’s beautiful,” he whispered.
Alette was adorned in a dark plum-colored backless gown with long sleeves. Her hair was pulled back with little crystal hair clips, and I have to admit, my sister looked amazing. From the look on his face, Damian thought the same thing.
I placed my hand on his shoulder, and told him I would meet him inside. I wanted to give them a moment they deserved, and left to find my seat with my mate.
