He slowly turned his head to look at her.
She noticed that his eyes had turned red. He was outraged. He was so furious that he could even kill her for what she had just done.
She pushed him, and he backed away.
“Mistress? A toy to satisfy your sexual desire? A way to break the mate bond? I can connect every piece of the puzzle now.”
She turned around and walked to the door to leave. She did not want to see this man ever again.
“Where are you going?”
His deep and angry voice sounded like a warning to her.
She turned around and looked directly into his eyes.
“One day, I will break your pride and arrogance. You will be standing with strangers, and I will be walking right by you, treating you like you don’t matter to me. I will ignore you whenever you try to remind me of our past, just like how you have always neglected me.
I promise you, Bryan Morrison, I will show my level of coldness to you that day.”
Bryan’s sharp eyes were digging into her chest. She never imagined that the man she loved the most would be the one she would have to leave behind.
There was no guilt in his eyes about what he had just offered her. Or did he think that he was doing a favor for her?
Sophia turned around and left the cabin.
Wiping her eyes, she walked on the floor, heading to the elevator to leave the company as soon as possible.
“Sophia.”
She glanced at the woman beside her. “Miss Selena.”
“Dear, are you okay?”
She smiled at her and replied, “I am fine.”
“Are you taking a leave for today?”
“No. I am leaving this company. I will never come back here again.”
Selena was stunned by her words. However, she glanced at other employees who were staring at Sophia from afar.
Sophia noticed the general elevator’s door opened as the employees were coming out of it.
She went directly to the elevator. She stood inside like a statue, controlling her emotions in front of others.
People’s mocking glances did not make her feel good either.
As she was walking out of the company, she ran into Luisa.
Luisa looked really happy today. Her eyes fell on Sophia as she approached her.
Sophia tried to walk past her, but Luisa stepped on her way to stop her.
“You look upset, bestie. What happened to you?” Luisa asked with a mocking grin.
Sophia assumed that she had already known about the engagement since everyone knew about it.
Luisa tapped on her chin with her finger and mumbled, “Let me guess.”
Sophia looked away from her. She had no mood to deal with her right now.
“I got it,” Luisa said with a broad grin.
“Alpha showed you your place in his life. I saw Mila Laurant when she came to the company. What a graceful woman she is! When the real queen returns, the master kicks the side chick away.”
Luisa’s words pierced Sophia’s heart. She felt that Luisa was saying the right thing.
She indeed had no value in Bryan’s life.
She took a deep breath and replied,
“Think whatever you want. I don’t have time for your nonsense.”
After walking past Luisa, Sophia continued walking for a long time.
Upon reaching a park, she came to a stop. She saw so many couples, which upset her heart. She went inside the park and spent the entire day there alone.
As it was getting dark,
Sophi took a cab to return home. She told the cab driver to drive the car faster.
On the way, Sophia stared at the sky through the window.
Why was she feeling so much pain? Why could she never find true happiness for once?
She closed her eyes and bit her bottom lip. She recalled the kiss in Bryan’s cabin.
She felt regretful that she had almost forgotten everything. How could someone be so blind in love?
She opened her eyes when his angry face kept coming in front of her closed eyes.
She witnessed his red eyes. He gave her the same look he had when she first discovered him as his mate.
He was everywhere with her. He was in her breath, her body, her heart, her mind, and her soul.
But he, he did not even take time to decline everything.
The sky looked amusing to her. What if she could fly anywhere and start a new life where that man could not reach her?
Suddenly, her eyes fell on something. She sat up straight and looked at the driver.
“Stop the car.”
The driver pulled over the car and turned to her. “Miss, do you want to get down here?”
Sophia’s gaze shifted to the building, where something caught her attention.
“Yeah.”
After paying the driver, she stepped out of the car quickly.
She rushed towards the building in front of her. She saw a girl who appeared to be fourteen or fifteen years old leaving with a middle-aged man.
The girl did not look happy. However, that man’s face was filled with delight. He was pleased to have the girl with him.
Sophia stopped the man as she came to a halt in front of him and asked,
“Where are you taking this girl?”
The man looked stunned. He frowned at her and asked,
“Who are you?”
“I asked, where are you taking this young girl?”
The girl looked at Sophia. Her eyes turned tearful as they wanted to convey something.
When Sophia’s eyes met hers, she tightened her fists. She returned her gaze to the old man, and anger rose inside her.
“I adopted this girl. I am her father now,” the man replied calmly.
Sophia glared at him. “Her father? Don’t you have any other children, Alpha Moen?”
The man’s eyes widened when he heard his name from Sophia’s mouth.
“How do you know my name?”
Sophia snatched the girl’s hand away from his grip and pulled her behind her.
“I know many things about you. Do you want me to call your wife and your two adult sons?”
The man was a businessman, and Sophia had knowledge about him. His secretary had contacted Sophia a lot of times for an appointment with Bryan. However, Bryan always declined it because he had given that project to another Alpha.
So when Sophia saw this man giving money to someone and taking the young girl with him, she felt strange.
She did not have to think twice about understanding what was going on there.
