Her howls changed into growls as time went on. Her ocean-blue eyes turned colder.

Bryan mistook her. She was a very sharp-minded girl. In love, she liked to give her all. But when she was done, she never turned back to the man again.

Because of Bryan, she lost her pride, her self-respect, her innocence, and her happiness.

How would she repair herself now?

She recalled how she used to dream about going for a run with him. Everything was just her delusion.

He had never dreamed of anything with her.

It was always only her. It was always one-sided from her side.

Regarding her, it was fine. In love, it was not necessary to have the same goal. If he wanted to marry another woman, she would not stop him.

If he was happy with his pack, she should let him be.

She would not stop him anymore.

As time went on, the sky became lighter.

Soon, the sun began to rise.

Sophia was still looking at the lake. She was there the whole night.

She stood up and jumped into the water in her wolf form. After shaking her body, she emerged from the water of the lake.

She went back to the path where she had shifted. She shifted back, put on her clothes, and grabbed her bag.

While she was getting back on the road, she checked her phone.

There were thirty missed calls from her brother Abraham and five missed calls from Bryan.

She ignored Bryan’s number and directly called her brother back.

“Where the hell are you?”

The angry voice of her brother came out of the phone. But she did not flinch at it like other times.

“Brother.”

Her voice did not seem okay to Abraham as he asked,

“Where are you? Why didn’t you come back home last night?”

She walked out of the forest with her hair dripping water onto the ground beside her feet.

“Sophia? Are you okay? Where are you? Just tell me. I talked to Alpha last night. He said you were not with him. Mom and I were very worried about you.”

When she heard Bryan’s name, her eyes moved slightly. She blinked her eyes after a while, then replied in a calm tone.

“Everything is over, brother.”

Abraham was walking back and forth in the living room. He was waiting for his sister. He could not sleep the whole night out of worry.

A while ago, Sophia called him and told him that she was coming back home.

He could not help but tell his mother that Sophia was totally fine and that she was with her friends last night.

After hearing that, his mother let out a breath of relief.

He told her that Sophia would take time to return, so she should go to sleep first since she also could not sleep last night.

He was fortunate that his mother agreed and went to sleep.

He wanted to talk to Sophia alone. She did not sound very good when she called him. Her voice was cold and emotionless, which scared him with so many possible dangers.

His eyes fell outside through the window when a cab stopped in front of his house.

Sophia got out of the cab. He dashed out of the house and walked toward her.

“Sophi.”

Sophia stopped her steps and raised her head to look at him.

Abraham’s eyes widened when he saw her swollen eyes. Water was dripping out of her dress.

He glanced at the cab and saw it drive away. He returned his attention to her and asked with a shaken tone.

“What happened to you?”

Sophia’s lips trembled, then she took a deep breath and replied,

“Nothing.”

She was about to walk past him. But Abraham grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to her place.

“Tell me what happened. D-Did someone…”

“No, I was in the forest last night.”

She interrupted him and replied.

She knew he had thought someone had tried to do something bad to her.

But that was not the truth. She explained it to her brother so that he did not have to worry about it.

Abraham sighed with relief.

He cupped her cheeks and asked,

“You said everything was over. What did you mean by that?”

She shook her head in response. “Nothing.”

“You wanted to tell me something yesterday. What did you want to share? I’m all ears.”

Sophia looked away from her brother. The dried eyes began to fill with tears. She blinks her eyes to push them away.

However, a few tears fell down on her cheeks.

“Why are you crying?” he asked with confusion.

He wanted to know why she even went to the forest at night. It was not safe for her.

“I tried, brother.”

Her words were confusing to him. “What are you talking about?”

She hugged him and cried. “Brother, I tried to move on and start a new life. But…”

She could not say anything more. Her brother’s hands froze around her.

“Who broke your heart this time?” he asked her in anger.

She broke the hug and wiped her tears. She realized that if she told him everything, his brother would quit his job on his own.

She could not tell him what had happened between her and Bryan.

So she chose to tell him half the truth.

She lowered her head and replied,

“I wanted to start a new life with the man my fate chose for me. But he doesn’t want me, brother.”

His brother was stunned. He observed her broken look and muttered,

“How can you expect anything from him? His Luna was fixed a long time ago.”

Sophia was taken aback. “Y-You knew about it?”

He wiped her tears that rolled down her cheeks again. “Of course, I knew about it. I am his Gamma. “

Her heart shattered once again. “It looks like everyone knew about it except me,” she mumbled.

Abraham dragged her inside the house and closed the door.
