“Of course, he did,” she mumbled, lowering her head.
“He doesn’t love me. He stated that he never once felt love for me, not even for a single second. Everything between us was nothing to him.”
She looked like broken glass that had shattered into so many pieces that would never be able to be repaired.
She proceeded to walk away from him and to start walking in a direction that was unknown to her.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“I’m going to hell.”
With a sigh, he made his way over to her. He reached out and grabbed her wrist.
“Let’s go with me. I will drive you home safely. This is not the time for you to go for a walk by yourself.”
She turned to him and pushed him.
“Who are you? Do you think my life is a novel in which you will appear out of nowhere and help me like an angel?”
Victor stared at her. She had no clue what he was thinking. She did not want to know either.
“Go and tell your sister that she has won. She will get the position and will become the Luna of Alpha Bryan. Congratulations to her!”
She laughed while crying. She looked broken. She felt like she had gone insane.
There was no hope for her life. She would die any time soon. Why did Bryan turn down her love? He also killed her heart.
“You are just a pawn in politics, the royal politics.”
Hearing Alpha Victor, she looked at him. “What?”
“He played with you. He never felt anything for you because he is a very strong-headed person. He knows when and what to do. In front of his calculative moves, no one can use their brain.”
She parted her trembling lips. “W-Why did he do this to me? Why?”
Her knees shook as she fell on her knees, crying in a mess.
“If he wanted to make your sister his Luna from the beginning, then why did he ask me to be with him? Why did he say that he wanted me? Why did he always want me to be by his side, even if it meant becoming his personal secretary? Why did he never think about his mate but only about power? Why?”
She sobbed in the darkness of the street. Her tears poured down like raindrops. It continued until her eyes were completely dry of tears.
After some time of crying, she took a shaky breath.
At that time, she felt a pair of hands pull her up to make her stand on her feet.
“I told you that you are the only one who looks in love. Your mate does not even want you that much. Do you know why he wants you to remain close to him?”
Sophia slowly raised her head to look at the man. He looked enthusiastic about talking to her.
“W-Why?”
She thought he would say that Bryan liked her but did not want to accept it because of power.
But reality was crueler than her delusion.
“He is afraid that you will reveal the truth about the matebond. He thinks you will tell everyone that you are his mate. All of the things he has spent years planning will be lost. I bet he will never mark you either. Because it won’t give him any benefit. He will make you his slave forever.”
Her shoulders shuddered as she felt her body become lighter in weight. She would faint at any time if she continued to listen about Bryan.
Victor did not say anything more when he saw that her situation was getting worse.
He picked her up in his arms and walked to his car.
Sophia was not even in the right mind to think about what was going on. She was feeling sick on the inside. Her heart and the whole body were burning like hell.
She wanted to go home and cried in her bed. She was regretting everything.
She regretted having fallen for a ruthless man. She regretted allowing that man to break her heart twice.
What if she had never met him? What if she had never developed feelings for him in the first place? What if she had not attended his engagement and discovered that he was her mate? Would she have been happy with her life?
Her wolf cried out inside her, realizing their mate did not love them. She also felt hurt. She had never had the chance to meet his wolf.
Sophia was engulfed in sadness. When she got back to her senses, she realized that she was in Victor’s car.
She turned her head and found him driving the car.
“Your father offered him his half throne,” she muttered, feeling disbelief that Bryan was hungry for power and preferred it over the matebond.
Victor’s eyes darkened as he heard her.
“I know.”
“Your father seems really love your sister,” she mumbled.
She closed her eyes and felt that she was coming between Bryan and that woman. But Bryan was only marrying her out of greed.
However, she paused when Victor spoke out.
“Don’t call that bitch my sister.”
Sophia was stunned by Victor’s remarks. She looked at him with a frown.
“What are you saying? How can you call your sister that?”
He scoffed at her question. “Sister? That bitch is the daughter of another bitch.”
She was confused as she watched how he sounded mocking about Mila and his mother. She was not in the state to ask him anything. But she wondered why he said that.
“Your mothe “
“She is not my mother. In fact, my father turned out to be a motherfucker.”
Sophia’s eyes widened. Her disbelief grew as she listened to the man’s abusive words about his own family.
After a quick look at her, he shook his head.
“That man cheated on my mom. I believe he killed my mom to marry a bitch.”
She turned her gaze away as she let out a deep breath through her mouth.
She already had enough for the day. She did not wish to know or learn anything more.
She was not even sure why she was in this man’s car. She kept quiet and waited to get home as soon as possible.
She had a great headache because of her nonstop crying. She had no idea how she was going to live her life from now on.
She closed her eyes as a cold breeze brushed against her face through the window.
She assumed her tears had dried. But she was wrong. More tears flowed down her cheeks from her closed eyes.
Suddenly, one by one, everything came to her mind. Beginning with the first time she met Bryan and continuing until the very last time they were in the restaurant.
One thing was similar. Regardless of the amount of time that had passed or the amount of effort that she had put forth, that man remained cold in both of their interactions.
He was still Alpha Bryan, without a heart to beat for anyone.
When Sophia opened her eyes, her eyes glowed blue, which did not go unnoticed by Victor. Nonetheless, he continued driving the car.
She glanced at the road and said,
“Stop the car.”
However, he did not pay attention to her words and kept driving.
“I said stop the car, Alpha Victor.”
Victor pulled over the car in a corner of the street.
Sophia turned her head at him and said,
“Thank you.”
When she reached out her hand to open the door, he grabbed her wrist.
“Where are you going? If you think about shifting right now, let me tell you it will be dangerous for you.”
Sophia moved his hand away from hers and turned to face him.
