Nancy walked forward, her thoughts racing and her steps unsteady.

No, the outcome would probably still be the same.

Because whether or not she slowed down that step, it doesn’t change the fact that she used Mick.

She used him first, so it’s only natural that he abandoned her, right?

Using the last of her clarity, Nancy asked her boss for time off.

Seeing her condition, her boss agreed to give her the time off.

“But Nancy, can you make it home by yourself like this?” her boss asked, concerned.

“Yes,” Nancy replied. “I’m just a little dizzy. I’ll take a taxi straight home, so don’t worry!”

“Alright then.”

Nancy packed up her things and headed towards the hotel exit.

But as she walked down a hallway, she unexpectedly saw Irene and Mick.

Mick’s handsome face was still cold and distant.

But Irene, at this moment, was eager and no longer had the smug expression she had before Nancy.

“Brother, can’t we be like before?”

“I’m not your brother,” Mick said coldly.

“But it was you who chose to let me into the Reed family and become your sister. It was you who made me fall in love with you. To me, you are not only my brother, but also the person I love the most. I haven’t forgotten about you all these years!” Irene couldn’t help but confess her feelings as she pulled on

Mick’s sleeve.

“I only have two sisters, Jasper and Jasmine. As for you, you left the Reed family a long time ago and have no connection to it whatsoever!” Mick said with disgust in his eyes.

This disgust deeply hurt Irene. “Why do you treat me like this?

You can like someone like Nancy, why can’t you like me? You used to treat me differently–”

Irene’s voice suddenly stopped because Mick’s hand was now choking her neck. “Shut up. Don’t mention that name in front of me.”

Irene suddenly found it difficult to breathe, but she still managed to say, “Why…can’t even that name be mentioned? She used you like that, and you let her go. But me…everything my mother did to the Reed family had nothing to do with me. Why do you hate me too?”

If her mother had been smarter in her actions, Irene would still be living a life of luxury as a rich young lady.

Instead, she was living a miserable life of poverty after leaving the Reed family.

So many times, Irene hated the Reed family, but she hated her own mother even more.

“Irene, you better shut up. I don’t want to hear anyone mention that name or anything related to it in front of me again. If you keep making the same mistake, don’t blame me for banning you from ever setting foot in

Emerald City again!”

Mick threatened.

But the more he made these threats, the deeper Irene’s jealousy grew.

In her impression, Mick was always indifferent to everything, as if nothing could catch his attention.

But now, because of that despicable woman Nancy, he kept saying harsh words. This only meant that Nancy still had a place in his heart!

“Give me a…a chance, please. Let me prove that my feelings for you…won’t be used for any gain!”

Irene pleaded desperately.

After so many years, she finally had the chance to get close to him again. She couldn’t give up now.

“You won’t have any chance, and I don’t want to hear any more of your nonsense. Get lost!” Mick shook off her hand forcefully, causing Irene to stumble and almost fall.

Mick turned his head towards the corner where Nancy was hiding. “Who’s there? Come out!”

Nancy walked out of the shadowy corner with an embarrassed expression. She had purposely hidden there to avoid an awkward encounter with Mick and Irene.

But now, the situation had become even more awkward.

When Nancy emerged, Irene’s face turned incredibly ugly. Not long ago, she had just insulted Nancy.

But now, Nancy had witnessed Irene’s pitiful scene.

Irene left in a hurry without saying a word.

Now, only Nancy and Mick were left in the hallway.

Nancy stood frozen in place, her mind once again becoming blank. Her throat, which was already dry, seemed even thirstier!

Why…did she have to run into Mick here again?

She was even afraid of meeting him, afraid of seeing that coldness in his eyes once again.

Every time she faced his coldness and disgust, it only made her feel more pain.

“I’m…I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, I…I just happened to be passing by…” She explained weakly, her face pale.

Mick took a step forward and walked towards her. “Why do you keep appearing in front of me?” he asked.

“What?” She was stunned, looking at him in confusion.

“Nancy, I told you not to appear in front of me again, but why do you keep appearing in front of me?”

Mick stood in front of her, speaking in an extremely cold tone.

She stared at his dark peach blossom eyes, which were still as cold as they were in the VIP room just now, even with a hint of annoyance.

As if he was extremely displeased with her appearance.

“I’m…I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were here! I won’t do it again. in the future…” She apologized, not knowing what else to say.

She bit her lip tightly, then gathered all her courage and said,

“I…I love you. I know you don’t care about my feelings now, and I know that using you is a mistake that I can never make up for. I never intended to hurt you. At first, I thought it was just a transaction…”

She spoke intermittently, fueled by the alcohol. Without it, she might not have had the courage to say these things to him.

“I…I did lie to you at first when I said I liked you. I just wanted a reason to get closer to you, to use you to avenge my mother. But…later on, I really did fall in love with you. When you came to the cemetery to find me, I was planning to tell you everything that day. But…I was too late. You already knew everything.”

Her gaze began to blur, her mind becoming muddled. She had so much more to say to him, but the alcohol was making it hard for her to remember what she wanted to say. Her tongue even began to tie itself in knots!

“Do you think saying ‘I love you’ can make up for everything?” Mick said coldly.

Nancy shook her head, trying to clear her mind. “I…I don’t want to make up for anything. I just wanted to tell you…. know you won’t forgive me. I…I really want to apologize…I’m sorry…for hurting you.

You…you’re the best person in the world to me, besides my mother.”

So the nicer he was to her, the more guilty she felt.

This guilt was almost crushing her!

“Mick…I’ll disappear from your life, so you won’t be bothered by me. I promise…this time…I can do it…”

Her voice grew quieter towards the end, her body tilting to one side. Just as she was about to fall, he finally reached out and caught her, saving her from a painful fall.

Mick lowered his head and looked at Nancy in his arms.

At this moment, her eyes were closed, her cheeks flushed. She was completely drunk and had fallen asleep!

Would she really disappear from his life?

He didn’t want to see her again, so if she could really do what she promised, he should be happy, right?

Then why did he feel like he couldn’t catch his breath?

It was as if something heavy was pressing down on his chest, making him feel especially uncomfortable!

The next day, when Nancy woke up, she was in her rented room.

Her head was still throbbing, reminding her of her drunkenness from yesterday!

By the way, how did she get back to the rental room? She clearly remembered seeing Mick, and then… Nancy held her head in her hand, thinking about the last scene in her mind from last night.

She… remembered that she seemed to have said a lot to Mick, and then… she had no more impression.

Did Mick send her back? She looked around the room, but didn’t see the figure she wanted to see.

Immediately, Nancy smiled bitterly. What was she thinking?

Did she really expect Mick to be here?

Presumably, after she passed out drunk yesterday, someone sent her back!

And he probably felt sick just staying with her for one more second.

When Nancy returned to the hotel to work in the morning, her boss called her to the office and asked again about what happened in the VIP room yesterday.

After explaining, Nancy finally said, “Manager, I want to resign. I hope you can approve it. I will submit my resignation letter later!”

“Resign?” The manager was stunned, “Is it because of the shock you received yesterday?”

“Yeah.” She knew the manager had misunderstood, but for now, it was a good excuse.

She wanted to resign just because she promised Mick that she wouldn’t appear in front of him again.

This hotel is a high-end hotel in Emerald City, so there is a possibility of encountering Mick.

Therefore, resigning is the best solution.

“The situation last night was not common, and our hotel will take better measures in this regard in the future,” the supervisor said.

After all, Nancy is capable and a good subordinate.

“I still want to resign and find a job that I can adapt to better,” Nancy said.
