“Okay,” William agreed.
“How did you find this toy?” Jasper asked.
“I saw it while scrolling through short videos online, and then I found this store. When I saw this set of toys, I thought it looked like the one you gave to Lawrence back then, so I brought you here to confirm it today. I never thought it would be the one,”
William explained.
“Why…why did you do this?” She hesitated for a moment before asking.
“What?” He paused in his steps, looking at her with some confusion.
She lifted her head to meet his gaze. “This set of toys, I gave it to Lawrence. You went through so much trouble to help me find something I gave to Lawrence. Don’t you…um…”
She bit her lip, considering what words to use.
“Are you jealous?” William took the initiative to continue the conversation.
Jasper seemed a bit embarrassed and responded with a “Hmm.” He thought of asking this because his father had asked her before, “Do you really like William?”
“Yes.” She had answered confidently at the time.
“And what about Lawrence? What does he mean to you?”
“He’s my friend, a friend I hope can be safe and happy.” She replied.
“If you only see Lawrence as a friend, then don’t get too close to him.” Her father had said, “Since you’ve found him now and proved that he’s not dead, then keep some distance from him in the future.”
“Why?” She was confused.
Her father had looked at her for a long time before sighing and saying, “Because people’s hearts are fickle.”
She was still puzzled.
So her father explained further, “Firstly, Lawrence has changed too much now and is not the same person as before. Secondly, if you still feel guilty about what happened in the past, then when he encounters difficulties in the future, the Reed family will naturally help him out. You don’t need to get too close to him to make up for it. Thirdly, now that you are with William, you should also consider his feelings appropriately. Listen to your father, William is definitely not as gentle as he appears on the surface.”
At this moment, Jasper looked at William’s handsome face and Dad said that William didn’t want to appear as gentle as he looked on the surface. So, what would he be like in reality?
In her memory, he had always been gentle and never had too intense emotions. Even when he was bullied before, he silently endured it.
No matter when, he always looked so elegant, polite, and smiling in a refined manner.
She was used to sharing her joys and sorrows with him, and he was the best listener. Therefore, she was also used to his gentle appearance. It was almost hard to imagine what he would be like without this gentleness.
“If I say I’m not jealous, it must be a lie,” William said softly. “Lawrence is too important to you, and he also holds a significant place in your heart. Actually, every time you worry about Lawrence, get close to him, or even think about him, I feel nervous and scared.”
She looked puzzled when she heard this. “What are you nervous and scared about?”
“I’m afraid that you don’t just see Lawrence as a friend, and I’m afraid that his place in your heart will become more and more important,” he said while raising his hand and gently tucking the hair beside her cheek behind her ear. “Jasper, we have known each other for more than ten years, but in my opinion, the only boy you have been thinking about besides me is Lawrence.”
“But that’s because…”
“I know, it’s because he disappeared, so you have been looking for him. Even if you only spent less than a year with him, you have been missing him and thinking about him for so many years. He has always held an important place in your heart,” William said.
For a moment, Jasper didn’t know what to say.
Because what he said was true!
“So, when I see him getting close to you now, I feel jealous, worried, and scared that you might like him more than me in the future,” he murmured.
“I won’t!” she said. “My feelings for him are completely different from your feelings for you!”
He smiled, but there was a hint of doubt in his eyes. Was it really…different?
Did she really understand the difference between her feelings for him and Lawrence?
He had this question in his mind, but he never asked it. Perhaps he was afraid that once he asked it, it would be like Pandora’s box, causing everything to spiral out of control.
“So, you still helped me find this toy?” she asked again.
Although he spoke lightly, she understood that the process was probably much more complicated than he made it out to
1.
“Because it’s a knot in your heart, isn’t it?” he said.
She was stunned. “You know?”
“I know,” he said. “You’ve also tried to find the whereabouts of this toy, and even posted on the internet about it. It’s clear that you’ve always wanted to find this toy.
So, if that’s the case, shouldn’t I help you find it?”
She didn’t expect that he knew all of this. She thought he wouldn’t pay attention to these things, but it turned out that he did.
“I don’t know if finding this toy will improve the situation between you and Lawrence, or if his attitude towards you will change. But I want to share some of the burden with you. I don’t want you to be troubled by certain knots in your heart. So, even if this toy was a gift you gave to Lawrence, and has a special meaning to both of you, I still want to help you find it!” William said.
Jasper suddenly hugged William and buried her face in his arms.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, lowering his head.
“Nothing, I just…suddenly wanted to hug you,” she said.
He looked at her with gentle eyes, raised his hand, and gently stroked her head. “Is it because of what I just said that made you feel uncomfortable?”
“No, it’s just that…I feel like I love you even more!” she murmured.
His eyes darkened. “Then promise me, if I ever get jealous or envious, you’ll tell me that you love me, okay?”
She hesitated for a moment, her face turning red as she looked up at him with her almond-shaped eyes. “I…I wouldn’t know when you get jealous or envious…”
“You’ll be able to feel it, as long as you say you love me, everything will calm down and I won’t think too much about it.”
He said.
She blinked her eyes, seemingly thinking about what he said.
“Is that okay?” He stared at her intently, waiting for Grace’s answer.
Her face grew even redder, and her heartbeat seemed to quicken under his gaze.
“Okay.” Finally, this answer was softly spoken from her mouth.
Jasmine was excited to be attending a concert with Mason for the first time, which made her particularly happy.
In fact, she had long wanted to get closer to Mason, but in the past, Mason had very little time at home, so she didn’t have many opportunities! Although Mason seemed cold and indifferent, not showing his emotions, perhaps because of their family relationship, she felt particularly safe with Mason by her side.
Jasmine still remembers that at Harley’s birthday party, they got into a fight with the Crypt families, and when they were fighting, she ran to call for help, and ended up calling Mason.
Without a word, Mason even didn’t ask why, he just acted.
Of course, that fight also left Mason injured.
At that time, she felt extremely embarrassed and looked at Mason anxiously, afraid that he would hate her.
But Mason just rubbed her head and asked if she was hurt.
“Mason, aren’t you mad at me?” She asked nervously at the time.
“Why should I blame you?”
“Because I took you to fight and caused you to get hurt,” she said.
“You’re my sister,” he said with just that one sentence.
And that sentence seemed to represent everything.
At that moment, she truly felt that he was her brother and they were a family!
At the entrance of the concert venue, Tina looked at Jasmine and Mason. She didn’t expect Mason to actually come.
However, with his cold demeanor, he didn’t look like he was there to watch the concert. He looked more like he was going to a funeral.
“Tina, can we really see Derick Currey later?” Jasmine asked eagerly. Her beautiful black eyes were filled with anticipation. He was the new star she had recently become a fan of, and his songs were really good.
“Of course, Chandler and the concert organizers have made arrangements. We can go directly to the backstage to see Derick!” Tina said proudly.
In terms of being a fan, she inherited her mother’s style, and with Chandler’s help, she was naturally happier than most fans. She could meet her idol directly!
“Don’t forget our three rules,” Chandler reminded her.
Tina waved her hand casually. “I know, I promise to follow them!”
“What three rules?” Jasmine asked curiously.
Tina looked at Jasmine, who had big round eyes, and then at Mason, who looked like a block of ice.
She awkwardly smiled and said, “Hehe, I’ll tell you when we have the chance in the future.”
The so-called “three rules of agreement” refer to when Chandler helped her pursue her idol. She had to make sure she met the idol, couldn’t embrace the opposite-sex idol warmly, couldn’t avoid talking to the idol alone, and if she agreed to meet the idol again, Chandler had to be present.
Thinking about this, Tina felt a bit nauseous. What kind of “three rules of agreement” were these? But who made Chandler use such a gentle voice that day to make this agreement with her? That voice, coupled with his handsome face, left her stunned and she agreed in a daze.
Thinking about this, Tina couldn’t help but glance at Chandler standing next to her.
Now she’s already in junior high school, and she understands many things. In their class, there are students who are already in love and dating.
Since she was very young, she knew that she and Chandler had a marriage agreement. When they grew up, they would get married like mommy and daddy and live together.
And some of her friends, upon learning that Chandler was her fiancé, envied her and said she was so lucky!
But what would it feel like to date Chandler? Would they have to date again before they got married?
After all, isn’t it necessary to date before getting married?
But now, she couldn’t imagine what it would be like for the two of them to date in the future. Would it be like those classmates in her class who were dating? Walking home together every day, holding hands, and buying snacks for each other?
“What’s wrong? What are you thinking about?” Chandler’s voice suddenly sounded in Tina’s ear.
“N-nothing.” She quickly replied.
“Then let’s go in first. This way, you still have some time to meet your idol in the backstage.” Chandler said, taking Tina’s hand and walking towards the entrance.
