“I was worried about you. You suddenly turned off your phone and I couldn’t find you,” she explained.

“How did you find your way here later?” he asked.

“I first checked the school’s surveillance footage and found that you had left the campus. Then I asked

Terrence to help me check the road surveillance, and finally found out that you had come to the cemetery,” she said.

He looked apologetic. “I made you go through all that trouble.”

“That’s why you can’t just turn off your phone again next time!” she said.

“I won’t do it again in the future,” he replied.

At that moment, his phone rang and he glanced at the caller

ID, furrowing his brow slightly.

“Dad, what’s up?” he answered.

On the other end of the line, Philip said, “Are you okay?”

“You know?” William asked.

“You’re my son, of course I know about your situation,” Philip replied.

The father and son both understand what they are talking about, even though they haven’t mentioned any specific matter.

“Do you want me to help?” Philip asks.

“No, I can handle it myself.” If he can’t handle even this small matter, how can he take over the Barlow family business in the future?

His identity cannot be changed, and the fact that Lily is his mother cannot be changed either.

If he wants to take over the Barlow family enterprise in the future, he will only face more doubts and challenges.

In the future, if he were to take over the Barlow family business, he would only face more scrutiny!

“Okay, then you handle it yourself. Just remember, the Barlow family is your support no matter what,” said Philip.

William felt a slight pang in his nose. “I know.”

He was grateful that Philip was his father. Although they didn’t have overly intimate gestures between them, he knew that his father and the Barlow family were truly good to him.

After ending the call, he looked up and saw Jasper’s sparkling eyes looking at him.

“What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“When you were on the phone with Uncle Barlow, you seemed like you were about to cry,” she said.

“Your nose even looked a little red.”

“You must have been mistaken,” he said, feeling a bit uncomfortable.

She propped her chin up with her hand and said, “If you really feel like crying, you can cry on my shoulder. It will always be there for you.”

He found her words somewhat amusing, making him laugh and cry at the same time. “Usually, it’s men who say things like that.”

“Women can say it too. There’s no rule that says men can’t cry on a woman’s shoulder,” she replied.

His gaze fell upon her delicate face. Yes, when he was a child, he used to cry on her shoulder!

She was still as pure and innocent as she was when they were young, as if the filth of the world had never touched her.

At that moment, the waiter brought out their food, and they began to eat.

While eating, Jasper asked, “Have you figured out who posted the thread on the forum?”

William shook his head, “I have no clue at the moment. It could be someone targeting me or the Barlow family. After all, we have had some rivals in the business world over the years. As for me, some people may seem friendly on the surface, but who knows what they are really thinking.”

“I see,” Jasper replied.

“I will have a computer expert check the IP information of the post on the forum later to see if we can find out who posted it,”

William said.

Suddenly, Jasper looked uneasy and said, “Um, about that… it might not be convenient to access the forum right now.”

“What’s wrong?” William asked, confused.

She hesitated before admitting, “I asked my older brother to hack the forum.”

William was speechless for a moment. He knew Mick’s skills well, and hacking a campus forum was child’s play for him.

“Alright, I’ll have a computer expert contact Mick and see if we can trace the person who posted this,”

William said.

“Okay,” Jasper nodded and then looked a bit embarrassed as she asked, “Do you think I’m meddling too much?”

“I don’t know how,” he looked at her with gentle eyes, “and besides, I would be happy because you want to protect me.”

She looked at his smiling face with a dazed expression, and suddenly felt her heart beating so intensely that it seemed like it might leap out of her throat.

After finishing their meal, the two of them returned to school.

William walked Jasper back to the girls’ dormitory, and as they walked side by side, many passing students couldn’t help but stare.

Jasper clearly felt that there were more eyes on them today than usual!

And when William escorted her downstairs, they ran into her roommate Meave who had just returned to the dormitory.

Meave looked surprised to see William standing next to Jasper, but then smiled and said, “William, you brought Jasper back.”

“Mhmm,” William replied.

“You have no idea how worried Jasper was about you. After class today, she saw the post on the forum and went out to look for you,” Meave said, realizing she may have said too much.

It seemed like she had just opened a can of worms!

Fortunately, William didn’t seem to mind Meave mentioning the post and just smiled at Jasper. “Thank you.”

Josper locked anbarrassed. “Why are day higu?ng n??

“Thank you for worrying shogi dhe did dan metiend out to pot her head. “We getting late now so vos disuld ge upstairs and reett

“Then you should rest too, she said.

“Okay,” he agreed.

Jasper and Meave walked into the dorm room together, while William stood outside. He only turned and left after Jasper’s figure disappeared from his sight.

Meave was curious and asked, “How are things between you and William?”

“What do you mean?” Jasper asked.

“I mean what was mentioned in the post today. You guys… um, didn’t have a fight, did you?” Meave asked. “Many people in our class are saying that you must have had a fight with him.”

“Why should I argue with William? The people in our class are so boring! William and I are actually on good terms,” Jasper said.

“So, everything in that post wasn’t true?” Meave asked.

Jasper pursed her lips and after a moment, she said, “I know exactly what kind of person William is.

Whoever posted that had bad intentions, but William will definitely find out who it was!”

Jasper was confident about this!

She didn’t believe that someone who posted something like that couldn’t be found out.

She didn’t believe that someone who posted a message couldn’t figure it out.

And only by finding that person can we truly know what their purpose was in posting such a message!

When Jasper returned to the dorm, as expected, his roommates Horea and Nina were also concerned about the matter and asked Jasper about what happened with William.

So, Jasper gave the same answer once again.

“I knew it! Mr. Barlow doesn’t seem like a person with deep scheming thoughts!” Nina exclaimed.

“Yeah, all that talk about revenge and retaliation, the person who posted that must have thought they were writing a novel!” Horea chimed in, “Maybe the person who posted it has some twisted thoughts in their own mind!”

“But is William’s mother really a criminal?” Meave asked.

Horea and Nina also looked at Jasper curiously, clearly wanting to know the truth.

Jasper spoke seriously, “No one can choose their birth. If you still consider me a friend in the future, I hope you won’t ask about this again.”

The three looked at each other for a moment, then Meave said, “Yeah, no one can choose their birth. I shouldn’t have asked about it with my big mouth!”

“Yes, yes, don’t ask, don’t ask.”

“By the way, can someone lend me their notes from the shared class today? I didn’t take any notes during class!” Nina changed the subject.

“I lend to you,” Jasper said.

The four-person dormitory returned to its usual lively state, as if the little incident just now never happened.

The next day, when Jasper arrived in the classroom, all of her classmates were staring at her in unison.

In the eyes of many, there is sympathy, pity, ridicule, or even schadenfreude!

A few girlfriends approached Jasper with concern written all over their faces, saying, “Jasper, don’t be sad. No one could have predicted this! But luckily, William’s scheme has been exposed, and we’ll be here for you from now on!”

“Yeah, there are plenty of good guys out there in the world. You’ll definitely find someone better!”

“Exactly, why hang yourself up on one tree? We’ll help you find someone new!”

The girls spoke eagerly, wishing they could become Jasper’s confidantes through this ordeal!

“When did I ever say that I was upset?” Jasper asked with a seemingly amused tone. “And as for William’s conspiracy, are you guys just being too imaginative or do you like to believe everything you hear? We are all college students here, we should at least have the basic ability to distinguish fact from fiction. Just because you read something online doesn’t mean it’s true, right?”
