Filed To Story: Their Bullied and Broken Mate by Teri Petry
After we all sat, Alette straightened her posture. “Since you are all my family, I feel like I need to be completely honest with all of you. I have spoken to Damian already, but he encouraged me to speak to all of you as well. There was a reason we invited Peter here. I know mom trusts him completely, and has helped her through some crazy things. I’m hoping he can help me. I can’t keep living like this. I don’t feel myself anymore, and haven’t since….well, we all know when. This is going to be hard for me, and I will need as much support and tough love from you all. When I want to stop, or run from it, I need you there to make me continue. I’m scared, because I don’t remember most of what happened, but what I do, terrifies me.” She explained.
We rallied around her and promised to help her through this. She seemed to feel a little better knowing she would have her family behind her.
There was a honk outside, and she got up to race towards the door. One of the Omega’s had already opened it and there stood Micah. The two girls embraced each other as tightly as they could. Alette just cried in her friend’s hair and thanked her over and over for coming. Micah cupped her face and said, “Lettie, nothing could keep me from you. Not even this big ol’ belly. I would have been here sooner, but I had to wait for the all clear from Roxy.” Alette pulled her into a hug again, and they stayed that way until we heard a deep growl.
I turned my head to see who was growling at this reunion, and in the doorway stood Buck. He looked like he had just found the world’s largest treasure. “Mate!” Micah’s eyes never left his, but she looked almost afraid when she repeated the words he just spoke. ‘Mate’. Alette whispered in her ear, and she gave a slight nod. My sister took her friend’s hand and led her to where Buck was standing.
“Buck, this is my best friend, Micah Remmington. Micah, this is our Beta Buck Thunderhawk. There, now you are no longer strangers,” Alette said as she introduced the mates. Buck took her hands nervously, and Micah was trembling. Micah opened her mouth and whispered, “I’m sorry. I don’t know if I can do this.” Buck went down to her level, so he could see into her eyes and asked her why. She looked at her belly, and the realization hit him. He pulled her to him and said, “I don’t give a shit if you are pregnant. You can tell me what happened at another time. I will raise them as mine if you will allow me to. Don’t give up on me because of something that happened before me, please. Just give me a chance to prove I’m one of the good ones.”
Micah held onto him tightly and nodded. She didn’t know how to tell him how she ended up pregnant, and that up until now she had planned on giving the baby up for adoption. I decided to speak to Buck and Micah together since I knew the story.
We left for the common room, and once inside I shut and locked the door. We all sat around the coffee table and I started the conversation. “Buck, I can explain Micah’s reluctance. She is ashamed of her situation, and she shouldn’t be. What happened to her was not her fault. We had a wolf in our pack who found joy in manipulating young she-wolves into thinking he was in love with them. He would then turn violent towards them, and would rape them and if they turned up pregnant, he abandoned them. My daughter, Willow, is a product of his treachery. However, Willow’s mother wasn’t so lucky. She didn’t survive the birth. He has since been dealt with, and Micah was set on giving the pup up for adoption to my uncle Jason’s pack, Starry Moon. She is family to us, and only want what’s best for her. What she decides is totally up to her,” I explained.
He did his best to keep his anger under control, and when I explained that Scott was no longer living. He seemed to relax. I then turned to Micah, and explained a little about Buck.
“Micah, I know you trust me, and you also know that I will always be straight with you. I don’t know Buck very well, but what I do know is this, he is an honorable man. He is loyal to those he cares about and to his pack. He has lived off the grid for quite a while at the pack borders, and he wishes to stay that way. He balances his time between there and the pack house. His home is plenty large enough for both of you, and the baby, and when you feel you want to be with Alette, you guys have a room here, and I’m sure Damian will allow another room for a nursery. I wouldn’t tell you he was good for you, Micah, unless he was. Don’t keep yourself from being happy just because you are pregnant,” I expressed.
Micah seemed to soften a little, and Buck once again expressed to her that he had no intention of rejecting her. He would be proud to raise her child as his. He just wanted to build a stronger bond with her, and take care of her. Micah agreed not to reject him either, but they would still need to talk about the baby. He agreed, and we went back to join the others. Damian was there when we returned and he congratulated his Beta. He gave Micah a hearty hug which earned a growl from Buck. Damian told him to cool his jets, and they both laughed.
Riley sent me a link telling me that this would be the perfect time to announce our news to everyone. I agreed, and her and I stood with pride to make the announcement.
“Everyone, I have something to say. Riley and I are expecting a baby. She is about 5 weeks along,” I said.
*Buck POV*
Woke up this morning feeling like my life was about to change. Hell, it had already changed so much in just a month, but this felt different. I got up and did my morning routine, and decided to go for a run. My wolf, Kylo, hadn’t been out since the battle and had been begging to run.
We ended up doing a little hunting, and found a few rabbits. Kylo made sure not to damage the pelts because I was going to use them to make a gift for our new Luna. I didn’t stay out long, and made my way back to my cabin. I prepared the rabbits to be drained and gutted, and went in to take a shower.
After the constant nagging from Kylo, I made the choice to go to the pack house. The closer I got, the worse Kylo got. “What is up with you man?” I asked. He replied, “You are about to find out. I’m sure of it.” He was right on the money. As soon as I walked into the back door, the smell of currants and orchids overwhelmed me. I started to follow the smell, and when I got to the doorway of the dining room I saw the most gorgeous woman I had ever seen. Her petite frame, and piles of blonde curls, was currently wrapped in the arms of my Luna. I let out a low growl and whispered, ‘Mate’.
When she pulled away from Alette, I noticed her round belly. My heart sunk, but Kylo told me that we weren’t rejecting her. Not that I had planned on it anyway, but this did complicate things. What if the dad was in the picture? Our eyes met after I growled, and we were locked in to each other. I could already feel her nervousness as Alette led her to where I was, and I wanted so badly to ease her anxiety.
“Buck, this is my best friend, Micah Remmington. Micah, this is our Beta Buck Thunderhawk. There, now you are no longer strangers,” Alette said. She kindly introduced us. Micah got even more nervous and placed her hand on her belly. “I don’t think I can do this,” she whispered an apology.
