Jared hesitated, looking thoughtful. Meanwhile, Eliza, unable to contain her frustration, blurted out, “Mr. Cooper, just be upfront—did Isabella say something about us?”

Jared’s surprised look confirmed Eliza’s suspicions. “I knew it!” she exclaimed, her voice breaking. “It must be because of something she said that you canceled our deal, right? Isabella was raised by my family. My parents treated her well, but now that she’s reconnected with her real family, she’s turned against us, pushing us toward bankruptcy. That’s just ungrateful!”

Tears streamed down Eliza’s cheeks, adding to her pitiful demeanor.

Jeffry’s expression darkened as he turned to Isabella, his gaze sharp. “Mr. Cooper, please, did Isabella influence your decision?”

Jared, who had been quietly contemplating his next words, suddenly adopted a chilling tone. “Yes, she did.”

Instantly enraged, Jeffry snapped at Isabella, “Do you really despise the Chapman family so much? Are you intent on destroying us?”

“But she didn’t advise me to cancel the deal,” Jared interjected with an icy smile. “She told me to cooperate with you.”

This revelation left Jeffry and Eliza dumbfounded. Jeffry, struggling to comprehend, muttered, “What? What does that mean?”

How could Isabella possibly dictate actions to Homelight Enterprise?

Jared clarified with a scornful laugh, “Did you really think I partnered with you for your skills? Honestly, you’re not competent at anything. If it weren’t for Isabella’s covert support, the Chapman Group would have collapsed long ago, and you wouldn’t have reached your current stature.”

Jeffry was taken aback, his assumptions shattered. Eliza furrowed her brow and asked, “Mr. Cooper, why would you say this? Why did you listen to Isabella?”

“Because she’s the actual owner of our company!” Jared declared emphatically.

The room went silent, the impact of his words sinking in. Isabella owned Homelight Enterprise, a company that was many times more valuable than Chapman Group.

Seeing Jeffry’s and Eliza’s astonishment, Jared continued, “She founded the company years ago, and it has prospered ever since. When she noticed the Chapman Group floundering, she absorbed losses herself just to ensure our partnership. Thanks to her, you rose to prominence among Gemond’s elite. But the moment you found out she wasn’t blood-related to you, you discarded Isabella ruthlessly. If not for your cruelty, I would have never severed our ties.”

Jeffry felt a wave of dizziness as he processed the bitter truth. He had always believed the Chapman family was Isabella’s benefactor, but in reality, it was she who had sustained them all this time. Without her, the Chapman family would have collapsed long ago.

Now it all made sense—why so many of their business deals had fallen through, why their fortunes had started to decline after she left.

Jeffry had always believed that Isabella was responsible for the Chapman family’s downfall. He never realized that, without her, the family would have crumbled long ago. A wave of weakness consumed him as he stared at Isabella, tears welling in his eyes and his throat dry, unable to speak.

Eliza, too, looked at Isabella, her face reflecting shock and anger.

“Isabella, Dad and Mom raised you, yet you chose to cancel all partnerships with the Chapman Group right after you parted ways with our family? Will you really be able to live with yourself if our family collapses?” Eliza shouted, her voice brimming with fury.

She couldn’t believe that Isabella had gained such influence, and she was even more outraged that Isabella refused to support the Chapman family. In her eyes, Isabella was obligated to help them.

“Huh!” Jared couldn’t help but find the situation ironic. “Boss, your sister is quite the character. You two, leave now and don’t come back to Homelight Enterprise!” he said sharply.

“Mr. Cooper, don’t you think Isabella is being cruel? She might not even be alive if it weren’t for the Chapman family!” Eliza fired back, convinced of her own righteousness and sure of Isabella’s fault.

“Leave!” Jared ordered firmly.

The security guards swiftly entered, seized Jeffry and Eliza, and threw them out.

Eliza, still wanting to cause a scene, was silenced when Jeffry, finally coming to his senses, slapped her sharply across the face.

“You’re worthless! You’re not even half as good as Isabella, and yet you still have the nerve to shout here?” Jeffry was overwhelmed with regret. The Chapman family’s success had always been because of Isabella. How had Eliza, who was about the same age as Isabella, fallen so far behind?

Why had they pushed Isabella away in the first place?

Had they treated her well, Homelight Enterprise would have continued to support them, along with the Patton Group. They could have risen to the top.

As Jeffry stared at Eliza, he suddenly remembered something. “It’s all because you set Isabella up back then! If it weren’t for your actions, we wouldn’t have pushed her away. You’ve brought this misfortune upon us! You’re a curse!”

Eliza’s eyes widened with shock. She hadn’t expected to be berated like this by her father. Anger surged through her. “Dad, how can you accuse me like this? Do we really have to rely on Isabella for everything?”

“Be quiet, you piece of trash!” Jeffry lost his temper and slapped her again, leaving her face tingling and a sour taste in her mouth.

Eliza’s dreams of a luxurious life were falling apart before her eyes.

Back in the office, Jared was still fuming. “None of the Chapmans are worth a dime!”

“Forget about them,” Isabella said icily. “We need to concentrate on our own affairs.”

Noticing her indifference, Jared decided to drop the subject.

They talked business for a while before setting out to visit one of their stores.

Isabella was surprised when she saw the store’s location—it was situated in an exceptionally prime spot.

“It’s thanks to your reputation. All the malls now offer us the best locations,” Jared explained, clearly admiring her. “And the designs you create are immensely popular. They’re pricey, but they’ve become the most sought-after items in our shops.” He then guided Isabella into the store.

As they walked in, the sales staff greeted them warmly. “Hello, Mr. Cooper.”

“Don’t worry about me; keep doing your job,” Jared said, waving them off before leading Isabella to the main display. The dress on the model was one of her creations. She glanced at the price tag and couldn’t help but remark, “If everything goes as expected, this dress might stay here forever.”

Jared rubbed his head thoughtfully. “Your design is incredible. We just need to find the right customer.”

“Finding the right customer? That’s quite a challenge,” Isabella replied.

Who would spend twenty million on a dress? It wasn’t made of gold.

Though she was confident in her design, she also understood its limitations.

As they were talking, someone entered the store.

“Wait… Isabella?” a familiar voice called out.

It was Courtney, accompanied by Tatiana.

Isabella was surprised to see them together… as friends. She nodded in recognition.

Tatiana regarded Isabella with visible disapproval, assuming she must be the reason Maxine became the spokesperson for Blossom Grace instead of her.

“Oh, I almost forgot. You two are cousins, aren’t you?” Tatiana asked.

Courtney appeared surprised and asked, “You two know each other?”

“Yeah, something like that,” Tatiana responded casually. Her gaze shifted to Isabella and Jared, and her expression grew slightly colder. “Miss Patton, I didn’t know you and Mr. Cooper were so close. Are you two… together?”

Jared quickly interrupted, “Don’t be absurd!”

Tatiana seemed satisfied with his response, as if it validated her belief that Jared had no romantic interest in Isabella. After all, how could he be interested in someone who had just returned from the countryside?

Courtney arched an eyebrow, watching Jared and Isabella with curiosity.

Tatiana continued, “Miss Patton, I see you’re a fan of Sierra’s designs?”

“Of course, I like them,” Isabella answered.

How could she not appreciate her own creations?

Tatiana grinned, seizing the moment. “Sierra’s designs are always expensive, and this one is no exception. It’s been here unsold for years. But if you really want it, Miss Patton, Mr. Cooper would undoubtedly purchase it for you. For someone of his standing, a dress isn’t a significant expense.”

Tatiana’s envious gaze suggested that Isabella was simply using a wealthy man to get what she wanted.

Courtney glanced at Isabella with a trace of disdain. With her upbringing in the art world, she knew well that material pursuits shouldn’t dominate one’s life.

Courtney didn’t like her uncle or his family. She thought they were only interested in worldly success. She was even less impressed with their newly found daughter, who seemed even more interested in worldly pleasures, using Jared to buy dresses.

Tatiana had devised a “clever” strategy. If Jared didn’t buy the dress for Isabella, it would imply that Isabella wasn’t attractive enough. If he did buy it, it would look as though Isabella had brought Jared here solely for that purpose.

Isabella clapped her hands, saying, “It seems Miss Fernandez frequently resorts to such methods.”

Tatiana arched an eyebrow and responded innocently, “I’m not sure what you’re suggesting, Miss Patton.”
