“He is a God, one of many. His name is not to be known by you at this time though. He truly just wishes to go by his title. Now, onto why I am here.”

“Yes, I think that we all need to know why you are here.” I looked up at Odin, my hands naturally finding their position on my hips as my annoyance started to become clear. He had said that he was here to help, and all he had been doing was talking. Then again, he had managed to distract Orson for the time being.

“Yes, yes, no need to be upset with me, Riviana. I am showing my true self to these humans, or at least part of it. The excitement is understandable.”

“It would be, if you weren’t the most excited one here.” I wanted to laugh, but I didn’t dare.

“Ha ha ha. You got me.” He turned back to look at me and then at Orson on his other side. “You, Sir, are the reason that I am here.”

“Me?” Orson scoffed at him. “You, false deity, that thinks you can sway the people of earth, you think that I am the reason that you are here?”

“Ooh, you are quite infuriating.” Odin glared at him. “I wonder how a human of your kind ends up this way. I know that you all still have that war and fighting urge inside of you, even in a time when you no longer need to fight for domain and food. You are modernized, but your brutality remains.”

“We are not the brutes here!” Orson screamed at Odin. “They are. Those monsters that have infested our planet. They are the brutes. They want to destroy us all. They want to murder all the humans in the world.”

“Bullshit!” Odin told him in a flat voice. “You have no idea what it is that you are talking about. Do you know how stupid you sound right now? How stupid you look?”

Odin wasn’t sugar coating things with Orson at the moment. He was telling him what it was that he thought with no uncertain terms. I just hoped that this wouldn’t send the maniac over the edge.

As I looked around the area, at the gathered humans and nonhumans alike, I saw that most people, even those on Orson’s side of the whole thing, were in awe of Odin. I didn’t blame them. They were literally looking at a God. And I wasn’t human, nor mortal. I might not be seeing him in the same way that they were. I could be less affected by them because of my own Goddess status.

It almost certainly felt that way as I looked at them all. These humans all seemed to be starstruck or something like that as they watched the man that was reprimanding Orson. I just hoped that whatever it was that Odin had in mind here, he was successful. I didn’t want the humans harmed, and I didn’t want this to turn into a full scale battle.

There would be too many casualties and too much destruction.

‘Come on, Odin.’ I encouraged him inside of my mind. ‘You can help me out here, I know that you can. You promised me after all. You said that you were going to help Joaquin and I deal with this situation. Wasn’t that why you had called us to that celestial plane that night? Well, here is your chance.

You could help me stop Orson. You can help me put things right in the world again.’

While I thought about these things, I wondered how the world at large was reacting to seeing a God on the news. One that actually looked like a God anyway, since they had already seen me several times before. I wondered if him being here would actually help in the long run, or if we were just going to have another issue to face once it was all done and over with.

I was getting so tired of all of this. All the fighting. All the animosity. All the hatred in the world. I wanted to have a life that was peaceful for me and my family. That was all that I ever truly wanted.

More than anything else in life, I wanted to make sure that my family was safe and well cared for.

If we could take care of this situation, and if there were no new issues that came from it all, we might see peace with the humans for the first time in super natural history. We might be able to see a world where no one had to hide who they were. A world where there was acceptance all around.

And think about it even further than that. If the nonhumans could be accepted, what would that mean for the racial issues still plaguing the world, especially our own country? Acceptance of this kind could lead to so much more in the future.

‘Come on, Odin.’ I encouraged him mentally again. I needed him to succeed. I needed him to help me here, so that the peace that I and so many other people have dreamt of would come to fruition. ‘Come on and help me here, Odin, please.’ I was begging him mentally, and it was as if no time at all was passing in the real world. And yet, there was Odin, looking at me with knowing eyes. He had heard me.

It had been a prayer that he had heard, and he had agreed to help me. At least, I think that he had.

Riviana

I swear I saw a smirk on Odin’s face before he turned away from me. I knew that he had heard what had gone through my mind. It was like he had known exactly what I wanted to tell him, but wasn’t able to tell him it out loud.

I wondered if that was something that worked for all Gods and Goddesses, or was it specific to him. I mean, they did say that Gods could hear your prayers, perhaps that was what had happened here.

“How dare you speak to me like that?!” Orson screamed the words in response to Odin’s outburst.

“I will call what you said bullshit because that is what it is. You spout this nonsense, talking about how Riviana and her people are the monsters and brutes. Tell me, what did she do wrong? In all her time, she has never once intentionally hurt another person, bombed anyone, or tried to hurt and oppress the innocent.”

“That’s right!” Lara, who dared to brave the chance of interrupting a God to give her opinion on the matter. “All she’s ever done is try to help people. They even help investigate crimes to protect people.”

“Thank you, human.” Odin looked at Lara directly, the full intensity of his stare bearing down on her. It hadn’t seemed to affect Orson, but it made Lara look as if she was being overwhelmed. Was it because Lara had faith in Odin and other Gods while Orson didn’t believe in anyone or anything that wasn’t himself and his ideals?

“I..I am sorry for interrupting you, King Odin.” She bowed her head and looked apologetic almost instantly.

“No need to worry, human. I am not upset. You were standing up for Riviana, the same as I was doing.”

Odin took a step back and faced the humans that I had protected, the ones that Orson had nearly killed. He swept his gaze over them and ignored Orson for the moment.

“All of you owe your lives to Riviana. Even those of you that came here to protest as to why she should not be allowed to live amongst you. You owe your lives to her and her people, because they are here to protect you and keep you safe.

If you needed any more proof than what existed prior to the events of this afternoon, you have only to look at the fact that that man there, a human, was willing to kill you all, but Riviana wants nothing more than to make sure that all of you, even Orson and his men, make it out of here alive.”

“Sh..sh..she did save us.” One of the anti supers said in a timid voice. “She flew us away from the trucks and over here to safety.”

“She stopped the bullets when they were shooting at us too. Th..that man, the leader of the DOE, he tried to kill us multiple times, but she saved us. Sh..she really is a good person.” It’s funny how it took a twelve foot tall God to make them see what I had been trying to tell them this whole time. I just shook my head and thought about it a bit more.
