“There’s something coming.” The man that had been part of the anti supers group called out. “What is that thing?”
“Who is that?” What sounded like a teenage boy asked in amazement.
“Who? What do you mean who?” Someone asked in the distance.
“Well just look, it’s clearly a person. Someone is falling down here.” He answered them.
“Falling? If they fall from that height, they will be splattered on the sidewalk. Did they fall out of a plane?”
“There was no plane. This is something else. Someone is coming here, and they are flying through the sky to do it.”
“How though? What are they? Who are they?”
“I don’t know.”
There were so many voices among the humans that were talking behind me, and I was listening to each and every one of them, but I still wouldn’t look up at what they were seeing. I didn’t want to let Orson have the chance to hurt anyone here on the ground. I had to protect everyone. I just had to.
“Here they come!” Someone nearly screamed. “They’re going to hit the ground.”
“THEY’RE HUGE!”
“What are they!?” I was so tempted to look up, but I held firm.
“Riviana?” Joaquin called out to me, obviously looking at the person or thing that the people were talking about.
“What, Joaquin?” I asked him, not looking at him at all.
“You should look.” I saw from my peripheral vision that he was watching the thing that was falling to the ground. I had just enough time to look up at the thing that people were talking about before it landed in front of me.
It hadn’t crash landed, that wasn’t the word for it. And it wasn’t a thing, it was a man. A very large man at that. And he was familiar to me as well.
The man had landed on the ground in what can only be called a superhero landing. That is, it was a three point landing where they had one foot, a knee, and a fist that all hit the ground at the same time as they landed in a crouching position. I had seen it in the movies several times over the years.
“Wow!”
“Whoa! That was awesome!”
“What the hell!” More people were calling out behind me as they looked at this larger than life man that had just appeared. I was just wondering why he was here. And how his presence was going to affect the humans.
“Odin?” I said the name without thinking.
“HAH!” Odin seemed excited when he rose to his feet. He was standing at no less than twelve feet tall, broad shoulders and massive hands showing just how powerful he was. I also saw that he was hiding most of his true form, that was good. He didn’t need it to mess with people’s heads.
“Did you see that, Riviana? I can’t believe that I actually did it. I have seen this landing in the mortal movies. The ones with those super beings. They call them superheroes. I love those movies and come to the mortal realm to see them all the time.
I especially love the ones from back in the beginning of this century. The ones that had that Hemsworth fella in them, those were some of my favorites. Those made me particularly happy because they had to do with my own mythology. Not that I am a myth, mind you. And I was even in some of those movies. Not me personally, that would be almost impossible, but there was a man playing me.
I didn’t like how old they made me in those movies, but I was definitely flattered to be included in the story. They were wonderful movies.”
“Odin?” I called out to him again. He seemed to be a little too excited at the moment.
“Did she say Odin?” I heard someone behind me.
“As in the God, Odin?” Someone else asked in response.
“Oh shit!”
“Yes, it is I!” Odin rose to his full height. “I am Odin, King of the Gods. I have come to help and save the day.”
“Y..y..you’re really a God?” One of the men from the anti group eyed Odin with wide, marveling eyes.
“I am indeed. You know that she is a Goddess as well. And that man there, her husband and mate, is a God. Several among them have accepted the souls of my brethren into them. They had all ascended and are now Gods. However, even though Riviana Gray is a Goddess, and many among her have ascended, I am the King of the Gods, and therefore she is my loyal subject.”
“K..K..King of the Gods?” The man asked him in a confused tone. “Aren’t you just King of the Aesir Norse Gods?”
“I started out just the King of my clan, but millennia ago I was made King of all the Gods. I was chosen above Zeus and all the others. That was fine with me, I was already used to being a King.”
“All the Gods?” A Hindu man among the supporters called out to him.
“Oh yes, all of the Gods. I know all of the Hindu Gods. The Islamic God. Even your God.” He stopped and pointed at a man on the anti side of the group. “You’re a Catholic, I can feel the presence of your God inside of you. I know him too.
I know all the Gods, and they are all a part of my kingdom. Some have chosen to be reborn after endless millennia, but there are still some that are there with me.”
“This is so surreal.” The Catholic man shook his head. “You know God?”
