How could there be such a stupid character?”

His smile somehow made her heart ache. He was smiling, but she had a feeling that he was about to cry again.

Valda Theller said, “There’s no one who never makes mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect, and I don’t think the little white dragon is stupid. He’s just too persistent in repaying his gratitude. He just wants to repay the girl who saved him so much that the villain used him.” Brian’s eyelashes quivered slightly. ‘Persistent… Yeah, many people have said that I’m too persistent.’

The persistence became an obsession. After all those years, the obsession became a habit.

“If that girl could have recognized the little white dragon earlier and told him that she was the girl he was looking for, maybe the little white dragon wouldn’t have missed out on her. Hopefully, the little white dragon didn’t disappear. I hope he’ll have a happy ending.”

The ending could only be said to be happy yet regretful.

Brian’s breathing paused as he looked blankly at the woman in front of him. “Do you think the little white dragon can have a happy ending?”

Valda Theller said, “I can imagine that the dragon will have a happy ending. Maybe there’ll be a sequel in the future.”

The two people walked out of the theater. Valda Theller walked as she told Brian many jokes.

“Are they not funny? I told you so many jokes,” she said.

“They’re funny,” he said.

She looked at him suspiciously. “Do you really think they’re funny? Then why aren’t you laughing?”

“You want to see me laugh?” he asked. ‘Why would I tell you jokes if I don’t want to see you laugh? I just thought that movie had put you in a bad mood, so I wanted you to feel better.’

Valda Theller nodded seriously.

Therefore, a smile slowly appeared on Brian’s lips. “Valda, thank you,” he said.

His original gloomy mood had gradually faded because of her statement.

She said that the little white dragon was not stupid but too persistent.

She also said she hoped the little white dragon could have a happy ending.

Later on, the woman told so many jokes. He knew she was already thirsty but she continued only to see him laugh.

He suddenly felt that having her as his girlfriend was a good thing.

Valda Theller had seen Brian’s smile before, but she always either saw a sarcastic or faint smile. Those smiles were never out of sincere joy.

However, his smile was different. It was genuine. Even if it was only a faint smile, it was penetrating.

Valda Theller thought about Brian’s smile all night long.

The next day, Valda Theller was busy working with her assistants in the studio. Suddenly, someone knocked on the studio door, and one of the assistants got up to answer the door.

Valda Theller heard a familiar voice. “Where’s Valda Theller?

Where is she?”

She got up and walked over to see her aunt.

As soon as the comer saw Valda Theller, she immediately came forward and said bossily, “I called you earlier. It’s been days since I told you about it. What’s the meaning of this?”

“I remember I rejected you,” said Valda Theller. She could not have made her point more clearly.

“You rejected? Do you know what’s your last name? Your last name is Zhong. You belong to the Theller family. Your cousin is getting married and wants to buy a house. He wants to borrow some money from you. Why did you reject him? Where’s your conscience? Have you forgotten who raised you when your parents died?” Valda Theller’s aunt yelled at Valda Theller.

Valda Theller only found her aunt to be ridiculous. She was trying to borrow money but made herself seem like a debt collector!

Valda Theller turned to look at her two assistants and said, “Let’s call it a day. You can go home first. I have some things to deal with here.”

“Okay, Valda. We’ll go home first. Call us if anything happens,” the two assistants said. They had worked in the studio for years, so they knew her aunt.

Every time she came, it would be about money. She was mean and snobbish. She was so arrogant to her niece as if she deserved to have Valda Theller give everything she wanted to her.

After the two assistants left, Valda Theller said, “I lived off my parent’s death insurance and their inheritance. Aunt, you took all 1.8 million dollars of their death Insurance. I lived in your house from when I was eight to 18 years old. I lived in the university dorm after I was 18. Except for the tuition fees for my first year, I paid the rest of my tuition by taking part in the work-study program. Aunt, you can give me a bill. I’ll see how much I’ve spent in the last ten years!”

“Great. You’ve grown up, so you’re going to settle the accounts with me, aren’t you?” Rowena Santiago snapped.

Valda Theller said, “I’m just stating a fact. I didn’t live off you.

Besides, Uncle and my dad bought Grandpa’s house together. But the house went straight to Uncle after my dad passed away.

Half of it should be mine if we follow the inheritance law.”

Rowena Santiago instantly put on a fierce look and said, “What’s the matter? Are you after the house now? I’m telling you, you have no right to get the house! Forget about it!”

Valda Theller seemed used to her aunt’s attitude. “Since you told me to forget about the house, I hope you’ll forget about my money too. There’s no way I’ll borrow you money,” said Valda Theller.

She had been foolish enough to think that they would regard her as their family if she were good to them.

She longed for a family because she had lost her parents. However, it turned out that doing this would make some people more aggressive. They treated her like an ATM.

“What do you mean? You won’t lend us money? You’ve got your own studio now, and I know your comic is being adapted into a TV show, so I’m sure you’re getting a lot of royalties from it. We’re only borrowing some money from you so that we can buy your cousin a house and let him get married as soon as possible. Do you want to ruin your cousin’s happiness?”

Rowena Santiago asked.

Valda Theller replied coldly, “Stop trying to blackmail me using your words. I’m not obliged to lend you money. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous to borrow money to buy a house when you already have one?”

“You… You…” Rowena Santiago glared at Valda Theller, not expecting the obedient niece who would lend them money almost every time they asked for it to change so suddenly. “If you won’t lend us money, your dad won’t be happy if your cousin’s marriage fails!”

“My dad would’ve fallen out with you long ago if he were still around. Besides, I have transfer records of all the money you borrowed from me over the years. Aunt, are you just going to take it and not pay it back?” Valda Theller said.

Rowena Santiago did not expect that not only did she not get any money, but Valda Theller also asked her to pay back the money. She immediately snapped. “We deserve that money!”

“It’s for worthy elders. You don’t deserve it!” Valda Theller said.

Slap!

Rowena Santiago slapped Valda Theller mercilessly in the face. Her face was instantly red and swollen.

With a burning pain on her face, Valda Theller just looked at her coldly. “I won’t lend you any money. I’ll call the police if you refuse to leave. There’s surveillance in my studio. The slap you gave me has been caught on video and will be used as evidence!”

Instantly alarmed, Rowena Santiago looked up to see that there was indeed a surveillance camera in the corner of the ceiling.

She immediately glared at Valda Theller. “Fine. You’re tough. Just wait and see!” With that said, she turned and left.

Valda Theller finally slumped onto the couch like she was exhausted.

She thought her uncle and aunt adopted her out of kindness. She had no idea they were after the 1.8

million dollars compensation and half of her grandfather’s house.

She had tried her best to please them all these years, wanting to be a real family. However, their greedy requests disappointed her.

They just took what she gave for granted and would yell at her as they did just now if she refused only once!

The so-called borrowing… was just them taking her money for nothing. Her uncle and aunt never paid back the money they borrowed. They never even wrote an IOU.

Valda Theller looked down as her eyes watered. Finally, tears slowly poured out and dripped on the back of her hand, then the bracelet.

Valda Theller looked at the bracelet with tears in her eyes. ‘Will I ever have a real family?

‘Will I have a family again when Brian falls in love with me?’

Brian frowned when he saw the bruise on Valda Theller’s face. “What happened? Did someone slap you?” Valda Theller subconsciously wanted to hide it, but Brian spoke first, “I can tell that you have a bruise.”

Valda Theller bit her lip and said, “I argued with my aunt yesterday.”
