Filed To Story: Destined Bond with My Forbidden Alpha Novel (Alpha Alexander & Selene)
Alexander did something unexpected. He laid his head against Galen’s shoulder and cried. Galen was surprised but only held him tighter.
Even after Alpha Cain, Alexander had held it in.
The few times that Galen had seen Alexander cry, there had been tears, but only a few and only for a short time. He sobbed, his shoulders sagged, and his body rocked as the waves of crushing emotion rolled over him.
“I got you,” Galen whispered as he gently patted his brother’s back.

Selene heard the door slam shut behind him.
Jackson and Axel chatted happily; Wyatt looked out the window. Corrine was the only one that was paying attention.
“Excuse me,” Selene said, jumping up from her chair. She ran up the stairs and into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her.
She barely managed to open the lid of the toilet bowl before the bile that had been threatening to rise finally made its escape.
Her stomach muscles clenched and heaved until nothing was left to come out.
Her throat burned, and she felt exhausted. Selene flushed the toilet and sat down on the cool floor, leaning back against the cupboards below the sink. Then, bringing her knees up to her chest, she cried softly against them.
‘I’m so sorry, Alexander,’ she thought to herself. ‘I’m so sorry.’
She wasn’t sure how long she had stayed there, but it wasn’t a short time.
There was a knock at the door.
“Selene?” Corrine called.
Selene sniffed and wiped her tears before answering.
“Yea?”
“Are you alright?”
“Yes, just about to take a shower.”
“Ok,” Corrine replied, a feeling of sorrow in her tone.
Selene thought she had left when her voice came through the door once more.
“You should know,” she said. “We got word that Alpha Alexander and Beta Galen have decided to return to Summer.”
“Oh?” Selene replied. “When?”
Quickly covered her mouth with her hand to muffle the sound of the cry that followed.
“They have already left.”
She squeezed her eyes shut and cried silently, biting her fist to keep from making a sound. A painful pressure pulled at her chest.
“Ok,” she called back, barely keeping steady.
“Your father and I have some business to attend to,” Corrine said, then adding quietly, “I have asked Axel to keep Jackson busy today. So that you may have time to rest.”
‘Thank you,’ Selene thought to herself gratefully, unable to say the words.
“Selene, when you are ready,” Corrine whispered, “I am here for you.”
Selene heard her mother’s footsteps as she walked away. She leaned her head back, letting the tears fall.
“I wish I could tell you the truth,” Selene whispered, closing her eyes. “I love you, Alexander. I love you so much.”
It had been two days since the infamous Summer wolves returned to their pack.
Corrine ensured that Wyatt and Axel had kept Jackson busy for one reason or another in those two days, allowing Selene time alone.
When she heard about Renee, Selene had wanted to go to the hospital right away. Still, Renee was on restricted access due to the nature of her stay. And Bell was unavailable, having thrown herself into Renee’s treatment.
She was thankful to avoid Jackson, but she knew it wouldn’t last forever.
“Long time no see, wife,” Jackson called behind her as she made her way home.
“I’m not your wife,” Selene snarled. Neither looking back nor stopping to talk to him.
“Soon enough.”
Selene clenched her jaw in both anger and disgust at his words.
“Not now, nor ever,” she replied through gritted teeth.
“Well, that’s not very nice,” he smiled after her.
Jackson sped up his pace, quickly moving in front of her.
“Selene,” he began.
But she merely pushed past him.
“Selene! Come on,” he called after her. Once again, he ran in front of her and blocked her path.
When she tried to go past him again, he blocked her and grabbed her arm as she moved again. Finally, Selene turned on him with a low and threatening growl.
“Hey, hey!” he shouted. He raised his hands as a sign of truce. “Just calm down. Look, I won’t touch you, ok?”
“Leave me alone, Jackson,” she growled.
“Hey, listen,” he said, “I know you’re still mad. But we need to find a way to get past this and rebuild our relationship.”
Selene scoffed.
“You’re insane,” she said, “there is no relationship to rebuild.”.
Jackson clenched his jaw.
“Now, Selene, we already talked about this,” he said with agitation. “You and I are mates; you already confirmed that to everyone.”
Selene let out a bitter laugh.
“The only reason, and I do mean ONLY reason, that I said that was to avoid the possibility of war,” Selene stated firmly. “You are nothing more to me than an irritating fly buzzing in my face.”
Selene took a step towards him; her eyes had a glow he had never seen before. Jackson found himself moving away from her instinctively.
He gritted his teeth.
“How can you say that…We can be happy again, Selene. Just like we used to be,” he insisted.
“No, we can’t.”
“You can forget everything we had together just like that? Just because some other wolf comes along, you just throw everything we had away.”
“I threw everything away?” Selene asked. “You tried to **** me.”
Jackson felt the cold sting of reality.
“I never meant–” he began.
“But you did,” Selene stated. “I begged you to stop.”
“No, Selene I–”
“If Alexander hadn’t come when he did, you would have done it.”
“No! I stopped before he arrived!” Jackson shouted back angrily.
Selene laughed.
“And what about the next time?” she asked, taking a step closer.
Jackson swallowed.
“That wasn’t the first time you assaulted me, Jackson. It was just the first time I realized it.”
In a strange and twisted way, Jackson’s assault had been what Selene needed to understand the truth.
The mate bond does not give love. It gives you ownership.
It was Alexander himself that offered her love, and she wanted nothing more in this world than to receive his love and give it in return.
“Don’t be cruel, Selene,” Jackson growled. “Everything will be back to how it was once you forget about that bastard.”
Selene felt the anger and resentment inside of her flaring up. Then, remembering Alexander’s face when he heard her ‘choice’, she snarled, baring her teeth.
She took a step closer to him, and he noticed the glow in her eyes once more. She leaned in as she spoke quietly.
“Alexander is my one and only mate, and no matter how long it takes, we will find a way to be together.”
Jackson bit his lip in anger. He wanted to shout at her. She could see it building, and honestly, she looked forward to it. Selene was no longer the girl he thought she was.
“Selene,” Corrine called out from the front door.
Selene smiled at Jackson and then stepped around him to smile at her mother.
“Yes, Mother?” she answered sweetly.
“I just got a call,” Corrine began, returning Selene’s smile. “Renee has been approved for visitors.”
Selene genuinely perked up.
“I’m on my way!” she shouted with excitement, turning around and leaving Jackson without another word.
He was left irritated and angry. He began to go, but once again, Corrine stopped him.
“Jackson, there is something we need to talk about,” she said pleasantly.
Jackson turned around with his usual kind smile.
