It was as if the road ahead of him was dark, and perhaps it was the end of his life.
What had he done?
He wanted to forget about Grace but could not.
He wanted to keep her safe but could do nothing when she was in danger. He could only watch her put herself into a dangerous situation.
When she told him that she would give birth to the child at such a price just because it was her and Jason’s baby, his heart filled with endless sadness.
It was… the obvious answer, was it not? He had long understood that the person she loved could only be Jason.
To her, he was nothing more than a childhood friend who had gone through thick and thin with her. He was nothing more than a friend to her.
It had always been a one-sided crush.
He knew that, but why did he still feel so bad? It was almost as if apter 2541 he was about to suffocate.
Just then, there was suddenly the muffled sound of thunder in the sky.
People on the streets either took out umbrellas or rushed to a place not far away to seek shelter from the rain.
Only Brian continued to walk slowly as if nothing mattered.
Drip, drip!
Bean-sized raindrops began to fall from the sky, landing on his head, face, and body.
The raindrops became increasingly dense. It seemed to hurt when they hit the body.
However, he hoped that the rain could hurt him even more. Perhaps he would forget the pain in his heart if it hurt more.
Swoosh!
It started raining cats and dogs. Those without umbrellas scurried for shelter, but Brian continued to walk slowly in the rain.
‘Where should I go?
‘Where should I go without Grace in my life?
‘How should I live my life?’ Just then, he stopped when an umbrella was held over his head.
He looked up blankly at the floral umbrella over his head that temporarily shielded him from the rain.
When he turned around, he saw an unfamiliar female face.
He only glanced at her faintly before continuing to walk forward.
To his surprise, the umbrella continued to follow him.
Brian turned around, and his dark phoenix eyes saw the woman following behind him.
D She was a young woman with a round apple face. She had round deer-like eyes, long hair that was in a simple ponytail, a delicate nose, and lips of moderate thickness. She was wearing simple casual clothes.
In Brian’s opinion, such a woman was ordinary. He had seen all sorts of women in the entertainment industry. Many beautiful women had even tried to get close to him.
The woman currently only had one umbrella in her hand. She wanted to block the rain for him, so part of her body was wet from the rain.
“I don’t like people following me,” Brian said coldly.
“But…” The woman seemed to hesitate. “Are you really okay?”
‘What could happen to me?’ As if not wanting to talk to her anymore, Brian simply turned around and continued walking.
However, he had just taken two steps when the umbrella followed him again to help keep him out of the rain!
He turned around again and looked at her coldly. “I told you, I don’t like people following me.”
‘I don’t like to follow other people either!’ Valda Theller wailed to herself. She was not a nosy person.
However, she saw the man walking on the street in the rain. When she saw the look on his face, she suddenly felt uneasy, so she decided to help keep him out of the rain.
“Well… life isn’t always smooth sailing. It’s normal to encounter some trouble. We only have to overcome it,” she advised him.
Brian’s indifferent eyes suddenly looked at her. “What do you know?”
She was startled by his gaze. She only thought that the air around her seemed heavy like it was frozen. The man… terrified her.
“I just… think one should cherish one’s life when one is still alive. After all, we only live once…” she muttered.
He suddenly did not know whether to laugh or cry. “Do you think I’m going to kill myself?”
Valda Theller blinked before her face suddenly turned red. Her expression made him know he was right.
This woman thought he was going to kill himself. It would probably become the biggest joke in the entertainment industry if others found out.
“What makes you think I’m going to kill myself?” he asked.
“Because… you look like you’re going to cry,” she said a little awkwardly. It was how she felt when she saw the look on his face when he was walking alone on the street. She just thought the man seemed to have many sad thoughts in mind.
She even wondered if the water on his face was also made up of tears in addition to the rainwater.
‘Cry?’
Brian raised his hand and touched the raindrops on his face. “I won’t cry. You’re overthinking it.” He had probably run out of tears long ago. He had already used up the tears in this life when he regretted it again and again!
Valda Theller looked even more awkward now. ‘Alright, it seems that I’ve misunderstood!’
However, there was only one umbrella right now. If she went away, it would be tantamount to leaving him in the rain. However, she would get caught in the rain if she gave the umbrella to him.
Either option seemed weird.
Therefore, Valda Theller could only continue holding the umbrella awkwardly, praying that the rain could quickly stop.
Brian glanced at her strangely. “Why are you still standing here?”
She said, “If I leave and you stay in the rain… That’s kinda inappropriate. You’ll catch a cold. I’ve seen the weather forecast. This is just a shower. It’ll come and go quickly. It’ll soon stop.”
He stared at her. ‘Did she approach me on purpose?’ Too many women had tried to approach him on purpose.
B Gifts After all, his wealth and background were too attractive to women.
‘Who is this woman? Did she recognize me?’
However, the woman said nothing after finishing her words. She just quietly stayed by his side while holding the umbrella. She did not make others find her annoying.
Brian did not take another step and just stood where he was, glancing into the distance.
The heavy rain washed away everything on earth as if to wash away all the filth.
“Have you ever loved anyone?” The words slipped out of his mouth, and he wondered why he was talking to an unfamiliar woman about this.
Valda Theller froze. Her hand clenched the umbrella slightly before answering, “Yes.”
“Really?”
“But my love was only a joke. He never loved me. I was only a bet he made with others. How cliche, right?” Valda Theller, laughed at herself.
Even though it had been a long time ago, it was still a wound in her heart. She always acted as if she had forgotten about it in front of people she knew.
However, she spoke about it so naturally in front of this stranger.
“So, I’m trying my best to forget him and withdraw all my feelings for him. The biggest waste of one’s feelings is falling in love with someone who isn’t worth loving,” she let out a breath and said with a smile.
