Me: Good morning to you as well. Sleep was interesting. I will be ready,
Thane: Good girl. I will bring you buy some breakfast. Any requests?
Me: Do you have doughnuts? A long john doughnut with sprinkles and cream filling sounds amazing. Cream not custard please.
Thane: Custard in pastries is horrible.
Me: The worst. Hot garbage.
Thane: Hot garbage?
Me: I was reading articles on my phone and learning new phrases.
Thane: Oh really? I can hardly wait to hear what else you have learned. I really mean it. I would love to HEAR you sometime. When you are ready little wolf. I know you can do it. I will be waiting.

Knows i can do it? My eyes bug wide with the thought of Thane hearing me in the tub last night. No, I’m sure he just means he knows I’m selective mute and is hopeful I will speak for him. Surely. That’s really it. Whatever I need to tell myself so I can face him again. its difficult to pull myself from the phone to get dressed. Talking with him comes naturally which is shocking, but a good kind of shocking.
I braid my long hair and throw it over my shoulder. I really need to cut it. It isn’t practical having hair down to my knees. Dressed in skinny jeans and an off the shoulder cardigan ! look in the mirror and hardly recognize myself. My teal eyes are bright and the bruises off completely gone from my face. The increased healing only confirms to me that I did in fact feel Aramana’s presence. She really is coming back. Knock Knock Knock sounds at the door and I check my phone, seeing that he is here and hour later on the dot. I rush to answer the door with a huge smile on my face eager to see Thane and to see if he realizes my bruises are gone.
Good morning little wow: Your bruises are gone. Not only that, but I notice a stronger shifter sent coming from you. Did your wolf make contact? My smile fades a little, but he quickly grabs my chin with his thumb and index finger, thrusting my chin up so I can look him in the eyes. ‘It’s okay if she didn’t. This is progress Ayla. Your shifter healing is obviously working now. It’s only a matter of time before she reconnects with you. I am really excited for that to happen. When she returns, she and Ronan will go for a run. The thought of running as my wolf causes me to nod “yes” in agreement and my smile returns. He knows just what to say to make everything better i step out of my rooms and he hands me my doughnut and I immediately take a huge bite, not caring that there is probaby frosting all over my face. Thane chuckles and reaches over, scrapping frosting from my face and putting his frosted finger into his own mouth and proceeds to suck my frosting off of his finger. The view causes me to blush with flashbacks to last night’s tub escapade and 1 quickly look away attempting to hide my embarrassment “Don’t worry little wolf, if I get frosting all over my face, you can have it my eyes dart up to him and go wide reusing tum to laugh loud and stuff his own doughnut in his mouth.We walk out of the pack house and again I don’t see a single shifter in sight. “I asked them to stay out of the way for you again. Hopefully within the next few days we can work on you meeting some others of just observing. Balls in your court Ayla. He opens the SUV door for me and proceeds to help me up and into the car. I reach for the seatbelt, but he has already beaten me to it, seat belting me in before I can. “Safety first little wolf.” and with that he gets in and we drive off.
The scenery here is absolutely beautiful. The pack house is surrounded by forest and you can see the La Plata Mountain range just about everywhere you turn. The tops are snow covered and the view has me longing for a home that I don’t have anymore. Thane must sense my mood change because he decides to strike up a conversation. “What were you doing last night when you felt your wolf Ayla?” Great. The conversation I don’t want to have. I look over at him and I am met with a huge dimpled grin. My face instantly reddens, but then I remember our conversation yesterday and I startle in my seat. I lean my hand over slowly and rub my fingers across a baby bottom smooth cheek. “Do you like that little wolf? I told you I was going to shave. Now, be honest. Do my dimples put me at the top of the hotties of the midnight pack list? Please say yes, or Cyrus will rub it into my face anytime he gets a chance.” I squint my eyes a little, pretending to be deep in thought while tapping my index finger against my chin and then I just shrug my shoulders, smile, and look out of my window. “Ohhh, you got a sense of humor now little wolf? It’s going to be like that huh? I guess I will have to work harder at making that list.” he chuckles causing me to roll my eyes and smile to myself.
“This here is our outdoor training grounds. We start training shifters, both men and women at the age of 13. Some packs won’t train their females, but when I took over, I thought it was important that families and females get a say in whether or not the women train and I think they need to be able to protect themselves if we are at the border or doing raids. There are always shifters here on guard, but you never know. The females need to be confident that they can defend themselves and hold on until we get here. We also train in offensive measures, shifting, strategically running and hiding in the mountain range
Jetc.”
I pull out my phone and type “That’s a great idea. I wish I would have been trained.” and then I catch myself looking down, ringing my hands. Strong emotions are welling up reliving the moment I was taken. Thane reaches over and grabs my hand and begins stroking my palm and wrist. “When you are ready little wolf, we can train. You won’t be defenseless ever again. You have my word. We train everyone here. Even omegas. Omegas have the most pups and have natural instincts to overly protect pups. We will train and you will get stronger.” I smile at him and turn back to look at the training grounds. There are black wolves fighting each other, shirtless men sparring. Females boxing and kicking. Pups watching the sparring and taking it all in while other pups are training with instructors. “Oh great. Cyrus is here. He is mind??inking to see if it is okay to come over and harass us. I can tell him no if you would like.” I look at Thane for a while and realize that if he trusts Cyrus as a beta, then I could trust him a little. At least, while Thane is here. I pick up my phone and type “ok, but not alone.” “Not alone” he repeats. “Yes, never alone with him. You would end up in a knife fight or a gang bang for breakfast if he had his way about it. That revelation causes my eyes to go wide and my eyebrows to shoot up to my hairline. Thane just laughs.
