“Shame on Evie!”

The news was filled with gossip about her. She quickly opened an article and saw photos of Kian and Teresa together. To her horror, the paparazzi had also captured pictures of her and Kian in the same frame, sparking a frenzy online.

Kian had already issued a statement:

“Teresa is my girlfriend. As for Evie… I appreciate her affection, but we cannot be together. I hope everyone will stop discussing this matter.”

The online reactions were swift:

“Who is Teresa?”

“She seems like an ordinary person. Congrats to Kian, though.”

“Kian really has a girlfriend? I’m heartbroken!”

“So, did Evie seduce Kian? I’m speechless. She just won first place in the singing competition—how could she do this? She doesn’t deserve Kian.”

Teresa fueled the flames by posting a tweet, indirectly throwing shade at Evie:

“Please don’t disturb us anymore. Thank you.”

Online users quickly jumped to conclusions:

“Did Evie interfere with your relationship, Teresa?”

“Of course she did! Why else would Teresa post that? Evie is shameless.”

“What? Evie is so pretty. If she knew Kian had a girlfriend, why would she pursue him? I don’t understand.”

“Some people lose all sense when they’re in love. We oppose side chicks! We oppose Evie!”

“Evie disgusts me. My last relationship ended because of a side chick. I had been with my boyfriend for eight years, and then he left me for someone he’d only known for a month. I can’t stand people who interfere in other people’s relationships!” one commenter vented online.

“I feel the same. A homewrecker destroyed my family and broke my mother’s heart. Evie doesn’t deserve any fame!” another chimed in.

“She should be ousted from the entertainment industry! We can’t let someone like her be a role model for children!”

The backlash against Evie was gaining momentum rapidly. Public disdain for “side chicks” ran deep, and being in the public eye only magnified the hatred. Calls for her banishment from the entertainment industry spread across the internet like wildfire.

Evie scrolled through Kian’s Twitter page in disbelief. They had been together for six months, but he had never acknowledged her publicly. Now, he flaunted his relationship with Teresa, branding Evie as the other woman. The thought made her stomach churn, and she felt physically sick.

Just then, her phone rang. It was her agent, seething with anger. “Evie, you bitch! You rejected me but chased after Kian. I always knew you were trouble. Well, guess what? The company’s going to drop you, and you’ll be stuck paying the fines!” Larson spat out, enraged. He had once thought Evie was innocent, but now he viewed her as nothing more than shameless.

Without hesitation, Larson demanded that the company terminate Evie’s contract and enforce penalties for the damages caused.

Evie took a deep breath and opened her chat with Isabella, ready to pour out her frustrations, when a message from Isabella appeared:

“Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”

Tears welled up in Evie’s eyes. For the first time, someone in the cutthroat entertainment industry was standing by her side.

At Edge Entertainment, Teresa couldn’t resist mocking Isabella about Evie’s scandal. “Isabella, you really put a lot of effort into supporting Evie. She was on her way to stardom after winning the singing contest, but she threw it all away chasing after my boyfriend,” Teresa taunted. “What a waste of the opportunities you gave her! Now, Evie’s about to be banished from the entertainment industry.”

Isabella, remaining calm, looked at Teresa with indifference. “Who said she’s about to be banished?” she asked.

Teresa smirked. “Her agent dropped her and is pushing for her termination. If that’s not being banished, then what is?”

Isabella merely chuckled softly, unbothered by Teresa’s gloating. Teresa assumed Isabella was just putting on a brave face. She was convinced that once Evie was officially ousted from the industry, Isabella would regret her efforts.

Later that afternoon, the company began buzzing with excitement over the upcoming mid-year event. The Patton Group didn’t just have an annual year-end party; they held several events throughout the year to boost morale.

“I heard they rented a manor for the event! It costs half a million a day!” one employee exclaimed.

“Is it Dillon Manor? I’ve heard it’s spectacular—villas, pools, archery, horse riding. I can’t wait!” another added.

Hearing this, Teresa’s excitement grew. She knew the Patton family was affluent, but their generosity toward employees exceeded her expectations. This job was turning out to be the best she’d ever had, and with the whole company attending the event, it was a perfect opportunity to network with senior leaders. Teresa couldn’t wait to dress her best for the occasion.

As the workday neared its end, Isabella noticed that many of her colleagues were still at their desks. She decided to leave, gathering her things. As she headed out, Teresa called after her, “Isabella, why are you leaving so early?”

“Work is over for the day,” Isabella replied coldly.

“The company compensates you well. Shouldn’t you be working harder? You’re so ungrateful!” Teresa snapped, raising her voice loud enough for others to overhear, hoping to stir up agreement.

“Isabella never seems to take her job seriously. She won’t last long,” one colleague muttered.

“Exactly. People like her are usually the first to go,” another added.

Isabella remained calm, knowing their remarks were based on jealousy and misunderstanding. “If anyone should be concerned about disappointing the company, it’s those who fail to meet their objectives—not those, like me, who finish their tasks on time and leave. You seem to enjoy working late, but what have you really achieved with all those extra hours?” she retorted, smiling slightly.

Teresa’s expression soured. “Don’t be so smug just because you’re ahead for now. It’s all luck. I’ll outperform you soon enough.”

“Feel free to criticize me once you actually do,” Isabella replied nonchalantly.

Emeline, another colleague, stood up and added, “Why are you all so obsessed with staying late? The company values efficiency. If you finish your work on time, they’ll appreciate it more than pretending to work late.”

After saying her piece, Emeline left with Isabella, leaving Teresa to watch their receding figures with a darkened expression. Her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides. Isabella had always been her nemesis, and she had never once won against her. All she could do was curse Isabella silently in her heart.

Fortunately, she and Kian had already announced their relationship publicly; they didn’t need to hide anymore. Kian sent Teresa a message, saying he would pick her up soon.

However, just as he was about to leave, his agent stopped him. “Kian, what were you thinking? Why did you announce your relationship with Teresa?” His agent attempted to reason with him. “Do you have any idea how many female fans you’ve lost?”

In the past, Kian would have been worried, but he had changed. With a confident smile, he said, “Don’t worry; I have my plans.”

The agent studied him, knowing Kian was not a fool. “That Teresa… Does she have high status?”

“Yes, of course!” Kian grinned. “Being with her is a blessing. She can make my dreams come true. Don’t worry. After I marry into a wealthy family, I won’t forget everything you’ve done for me.”

Did Teresa really come from a wealthy family? Did she have such a powerful background? The agent was surprised but remained cautious. “Are you sure about that? After officially announcing your relationship with Teresa, I did some digging. Her background seems pretty ordinary.”

“I’m sure,” Kian insisted. “She’s just keeping a low profile because she doesn’t want people to know she’s Mr. Dane Patton’s sister.”

Mr. Dane Patton’s sister? If that was Teresa’s identity, then she was something special. The agent was stunned momentarily but still felt something was off. “But how can you be so sure? My investigation didn’t show any signs that the information I found was false.”

All the details she had uncovered pointed to Teresa being an ordinary person. Yet Kian remained confident. “That’s exactly why she’s Mr. Patton’s sister. Do you think the Patton Group would leave traces for anyone to find?”

The agent thought it over and realized Kian had a point. After their discussion, Kian left to pick up Teresa.

He dressed in a stylish outfit and held a bouquet of roses, standing outside the office to wait for her. When the women in the company saw this, they were all envious of Teresa.

Teresa basked in their jealousy, her vanity fully satisfied. She left with Kian, relishing the envious comments from her colleagues.

However, those who were focused on their work remained speechless. This was a workplace, not a romantic getaway. If they wanted to flaunt their affection, couldn’t they do it outside? Didn’t they realize they were disrupting everyone else’s work?

After dinner, Kian and Teresa went straight to his place. Once they were alone, they made love, and afterward, as they lay on the bed, Teresa leaned against Kian’s chest, drawing circles on it. Suddenly, she thought of Evie. “Don’t you feel sorry for Evie at all? She’s so beautiful. Don’t you really like her?”

Kian looked at Teresa affectionately. “Honey, you’re the only one in my heart. How can you still think about other women at a time like this? I’ll be upset.”

With that, he leaned closer and sealed his lips to hers. His hand slipped under the quilt, exploring Teresa’s naked body again. The flame of passion reignited, lasting for an hour.

Once their passion was extinguished, Teresa’s face glowed with satisfaction. She hugged Kian’s waist and smiled at him. “Honey, you’re amazing.”

“You silly girl. Stop talking about Evie, okay? Otherwise, I’ll keep doing this,” Kian teased, lifting her chin. Teresa was completely smitten, nodding obediently.

After resting for a while, Teresa picked up her phone, curious to see how badly Evie was being scolded online. She logged into her Twitter account.

Evie was still trending, but the comments shocked Teresa:

“Evie is so pitiful. I feel sorry for her.”
