*LOKI POV*

Our mate was so deeply injured, and I don’t just mean the obviously noticeable physical injuries. For some reason, it is causing me to be hesitant about proceeding with accepting her. If Liam knew my true thoughts right now, he would beat my ass. How can I help her get through this when all I want to do is lash out in anger when I think about what she has gone through, and will continue to go through it, even though it will just be the mental part. There will never be a single person to ever hurt her physically. Not while I have a breath in my body. Maybe if I just release Zeus for a while and run out my frustration and anger, I can think calmly enough to get my head on straight. He was all too happy for that to happen, but told me that I needed to bring someone with us just in case.

We have had sightings of other wolves near our western border, and going alone might not be such a good idea. I linked Rico and Nick and asked them to meet me on the training field, and that I needed to let off some steam with a run. They said they were already there and finishing up with the teenagers’ training. Our young wolves were required to start training as early as 10. We wanted to make sure that many of our pack were able to protect themselves in the event of an attack. They were able to try out to be a warrior at the age of 16. Whether they were a girl or a boy, it didn’t matter. Everyone had equal opportunities in Blood Moon.

I walked to the training fields instead of running. I figured I could do a little thinking. Liam kept trying to talk to me through our link, but I put up a block. I needed it to be just me and Zeus in my head right now. Especially when he kept saying that Mel thinks I don’t like her and I thought differently of her because of the rape. Little did she know that was the furthest from the truth. From the second I caught her scent of caramel and vanilla, I was hers completely.

Once her eyes had opened and I looked into those gorgeous green eyes, I saw my future in them. There is no one on this earth I want more, but I don’t want to scare her either with my anger issues. She’s had to deal with enough of those kinds of issues from others in her lifetime. “LOKI!” I heard a shrill high-pitched voice call. SHIT! It was Lisa.

Lisa was a friend of my cousin Rory and came to visit her often. She is from Mystic Shadows. FUCK! This isn’t good. She can’t know that my sister, Jason and Mel are here. I lowered my link and told Liam we had a big problem, and that I would be back at the hospital in 15 minutes. I needed him to meet me in the waiting room with Jason. I turned and started to walk faster and eventually she caught up to me. “Loki, stop! Are you going to make me chase you all day?” she asked.

“Erm..hey Lisa. No, sorry, I was deep in thought. What can I do for you?” I replied. She started to put her hands all over my chest and look at me seductively. I knew this wasn’t going to end well. She took one of her hands from my chest and placed it on my cock and said, “Well, for starters, that will be what I could do for you first. Then maybe we can disappear to the lake and have some fun like in old times.” The feel of her touching me made my skin crawl and I immediately removed her hands from my body.

She gave me a sour look and started to pout. “What the hell Loki? Don’t you want me anymore baby?” She started to reach out for me again and I grabbed her hands before she could touch me. “Lisa, I am going to say this as nicely as I can. There is no us, there never was, there never will be. You were just a drunken mistake on a few bad nights. So am I going to ask you to keep your hands to yourself, and find some other poor sop to bang you senseless.” I told her.

I moved her out of my way and left her where she was standing. I regretted the time I had wasted on screwing her brains out. She was an easy screw, and I needed to let my frustration out. As soon as I was for sure she wasn’t following me, I sent a link to Rico and explained the situation. He assured me he was on it and if he had to, he would ‘take one for the team’. I had to chuckle at that, but still, she was going to be a problem. As I made my way to the hospital I opened a group link for Liam and Rebecca.

I explained my hasty departure and hoped Rebecca could help me explain to Mel what happened. She said she would do as much damage control as possible, but and I quote, “You’re dumbass needs to do some serious ass kissing damage control yourself too. Get a grip butthead.” That’s Rebecca for you, the ever supporting sister who will put you in your place in a heartbeat, and I loved her for it. She was right, I needed to get a grip on my stupidity. I closed the link and started jogging faster to the hospital. Once I was inside, I met with my twin and Mel’s brother in the waiting room.

“We have a problem, and it’s a big one.” I said to them. Looking at me confused, Liam asked, “And that is what?” With a two-word answer, they both went pale. “Lisa Montana.” Jason looked panicked and Liam looked as if he was going to vomit. “How long is she here for?” my brother asked. I shook my head and told him I didn’t even know she was here, and that there was no reason for her to be. Our cousin Rory was away at school in Scotland for the semester. I voice behind me spoke up and said, “Nephew, Lisa is in Blood Moon, because I was asked by her mother if she could be. She has gotten herself into some trouble in Mystic Shadows, and they thought a few days in our training regime would do the trick to straighten her out.” our Aunt Nadine said.

I shook my head and told her that Lisa would have to return to Mystic Shadows, that we weren’t a scared straight program. I then proceeded to explain to her why Lisa couldn’t be there and my aunt apologized. “I…I had no idea Loki, I’m sorry. I should have cleared it with you both first anyway. I will send her back immediately.” As she finished her sentence, the door to the waiting room opened and there stood Lisa. “You’re sending me back? Do you know what they will do to me since I can’t finish my punishment here?” she screeched. Looking around the room, her eyes landed on Jason. “Why are YOU here? Your dad and brothers are searching everywhere for you!” she sneered.

Shift

*Jason POV*

When Loki said he needed to talk to me and Liam about an emergency, I sure as hell wasn’t expecting this to be the emergency. What are the odds of this stupid brat ending up here at Blood Moon? Just our luck. Rebecca and I could explain our presence here easily, it’s Mel we have to protect and hide. Should be easy enough, right? Let’s hope so.

Once she shut her trap for longer than 2 seconds, I answered her. “My family knows exactly where we are, and even if they don’t, I am a grown-ass man who can come and go whenever and to where ever I want. My comings and goings are none of my family’s business and it sure as fuck is none of yours. Alphas Liam and Loki are my in-laws, so I have a perfectly good reason to be here. You, on the other hand, I owe zero explanation, but here you go. When my sister…died..I needed to get away. There is a lot of chaos right now in my family, and I can’t deal with it. So, I came here to spend time with Rebecca’s family. Not that it’s any of your business.”

She crossed her arms over her chest like she wanted to say something but knew she didn’t have a leg to stand on. “What do you mean ‘when your sister died’?” she retorted. “You didn’t know? Melian is dead. Was left for dead in the old abandoned warehouse by Twilight Lake.” I sneered at her. The expression on her face went blank, and she took a step backwards. “I..i.. I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I’m sorry for your loss.” she whispered.

She turned and quickly made her way out of the hospital doors. Liam looked at both Loki and I and said, “That was too close. Liam looked at his aunt and explained why I had said what I did. I then asked her to keep Melian really being alive a secret, for now. She agreed and hugged me and apologized. She assured us that she would get Lisa off of pack territory as soon as possible.

We were talking about what just happened and we heard a scream coming from down the hall. “What the hell?” I said and took off running down the hall. Entering Mel’s room, she was lying on the floor screaming in pain. Liam kneeled down beside her and tried to calm her. “She’s burning up. I think she is trying to go through her first shift.”Rebecca agreed and told the twins to stay with her and give her as much contact as possible. “How can she be going through her first shift? It’s not a full moon or a moon out at all.” I questioned.
