Late at night, Elodie awoke from her sleep and decided to give Mother Pembroke a phone call, “Mom, Bertha is back. Lucky I was quick on my feet, otherwise, she may have kicked me out again.”

“She is indeed your biggest obstacle. Think of a way to get rid of her,” Mother Pembroke sneered from the other end of the phone.

“But, the Miller Family is in Bertha’s hands and she isn’t as tolerant as before. I’m afraid I won’t be able to go up against her,” Elodie replied cautiously.

“I won’t be able to help you with this. You will need to rely on yourself.” Mother Pembroke wanted Elodie to seize control of the Miller Family, but she didn’t want to get herself implicated in the matter. So, after Elodie returned to the Miller Family, she feigned ignorance and left Elodie to fend for herself.

“Fine, I’ll think of something,” Elodie replied helplessly. Luckily, she had a child in her stomach. As long as she made good use of this point, kicking Bertha out of the Miller Household, was not necessarily hard to achieve.

“Has everything been organized at the hospital?”

“Yes, it’s all set. Just sit back and wait for a good show,” Elodie did not doubt her plan at all. But, she had no idea things had already changed, nor had she realized that Emma wasn’t someone she could easily scheme against.

She never was and never would be.

In order to put on an act, Emma ended up taking half a day off work. Firstly, she went to get a follow-up exam, then she prepared herself to put on a show.

Luke had already become the oriole lurking behind the mantis; he had total control over the doctor that Elodie was confident in. However, Elodie still appeared at the hospital to confirm that Emma had a hospital bed booked. She also checked that she had already done an examination and was ready to start her operation. She then waited patiently for Emma to enter the operating theatre before she left in satisfaction.

A little while later, Doctor Benedict was covered in sweat as she made a phone call to Elodie, “The plan was a success. When will I receive the remainder of the money?”

“Are you certain that Emma can’t fall pregnant?”

“Of course,” Doctor Benedict responded under Luke’s instruction.

“Good. Midday tomorrow, let’s meet at the same cafe as last time. I’ll bring cash.”

Elodie thought her plan was flawless. She thought if there were no transaction records of money being exchanged, she would escape suspicion. But, this was all a part of Luke’s plan.

After she hung up the phone, the doctor looked at Luke and said in a trembling voice, “This…this should be enough, right? You promised me, as long as I cooperate, you would let me go.”

Luke crossed his arms and smiled as he nodded his head, “I am a man of my word.”

In reality, the person that was going to chase her for responsibilty was never Luke anyway. It was Eric…

So, there was going to be a good show the next day.

To be exact…

There were two good shows.

Thinking of this, Luke’s mood lightened. He could finally relax and go home to accompany his wife. But, he still didn’t know how he was to tell his wife that Emma was actually pregnant.

After Emma finished putting on her act, she headed back on set in the afternoon. Of course, Elodie had no idea about this.

Amias knew that Emma was in a difficult situation and was also pregnant. So, seeing her remain calm on set made him like her even more. She never forgot that she was an actress and never dismissed her responsibilities.

Amias found himself favoring Emma more and more. Especially when she was rehearsing with Taka and Taka made a mistake, Amias would tell him to be serious and not to drag Emma down.

“Is it necessary to be in such a rush? The contract says we have until October,” Taka complained.

“Amias, this is unfair to Taka. Let’s slow down a bit, I’m OK with it.”

Taka was quite surprised by this as he said to Emma in broken dialect, “I’m quite amazed by you. Why does the production crew always listen to you? Do you know how American directors are like? If you don’t perform well, they’re the type to kick you out straight away!”

Emma couldn’t help but burst out laughing, “I don’t do anything special. I’m simply genuine in front of them.”

Taka scoffed and said in a disapproving manner, “You guys are troublesome.”

“You’re nothing like us people. If we like something, then we like it; if we don’t like something, then we don’t. We don’t act nice like you guys.”

Emma couldn’t deny this statement.

She raised her head and smiled at Eric who was talking on the phone not too far away.

A moment later, Eric returned to Emma’s side and covered her with a jacket, “Fletcher has organized the first round of promotions for ‘The Lost Relative’. Survey results show that it is the second most anticipated film after ‘W.H.’. Also, a big American Director has taken interest in you and Craig.”

“Really?” Emma once again experienced the joys of being an actress.

“I’ve told you before that you’re Kaleidoscope’s future superstar,” Eric hugged her and gave her a firm answer. “You deserve it.”

“In that case…should I meet with the director?”

“I’m sorry Mrs Roberts, I’ve made you lose the opportunity to pursue the international film stage. I still remember how you gave up on the Victoria’s Secret runway because of me too.”

Emma looked at Eric and reached out her hand to trace the curves of his handsome face, “It’s not called giving up, it’s called working together as a married couple. I don’t see you mentioning the fact that you abandoned Kaleidoscope to take care of me? As long as it is for the sake of each other, it’s not considered giving up. Because we gain more than we give.”

“I will never regret any decision I make, nor will I stubbornly chase a particular status. You have taught me that there are a lot more possibilities in my life than I can see.”

“Giving birth does not mean the end of my acting career. An actor is judged on their acting ability, not their age.”

Eric looked at Emma; at her mesmerizing confidence. His l*ps slowly curved upwards.

Eric knew how rare someone like Emma was. Perhaps, there wouldn’t be anyone else in the world who viewed everything so clearly.

Emma had stopped appearing as often in front of the public for quite some time, but Kaleidoscope did not feel worried at all, because all three of Emma’s films were listed in the hottest film rankings.

Although ‘Stupid’ stopped screening, it had left a lasting influence on the industry. It’s unique approach made film fans discover an alternative method of screenwriting.
