Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family
Instead of being a vegetable for a lifetime, why not give it a try? Maybe a miracle will happen.
“Actually, there’s more than a little hope, about 70-80%, but there’s still a 20% uncertainty that we can’t ignore. Mirabella added gently, “I will do my best to cure Grandma; I also want to thank her in person.”
Everyone looked at the crown necklace on her neck. In this world, maybe only she was qualified to wear this necklace, right?
“If Shirley could wake up and see you, she’d be very happy.” Phillip was moved to tears again.
“Well, let’s not all stand here; let Ms. Bella go in and sit for a while.” Butler, Mr. Brodie reminded while helping Phillip.
“Yes, yes, I got excited and made my lovely Mirabella stand too long!” Phillip laughed, “come in and sit with me, Mr. Brodie; have someone make some of Mirabella’s favorite snacks; and prepare some juice.”
Mirabella wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, but seeing the old man so happy made her have to go in with him.
After having some snacks, checking her grandmother’s pulse, and watching the servants feed her medicine, Mirabella finally got up and said, “I should go home.”
It was getting late.
Everyone at home must be asleep by now.
She had been so busy these days that she hardly had time to stay at home.
“Romeo, you must escort Mirabella safely to her doorstep and call her when she gets home; don’t make her worry.”
Phillip gave a few instructions to his grandson before turning to Mirabella and saying, “When your grandmother recovers, we can go for a walk with her. We’re so fortunate to have you, the McMillan family really appreciates your care. You’ve been working hard lately.”
She still had to prepare the medicine and regularly check on Shirley’s recovery; it was indeed hard for her.
And she also had to manage the Collins family’s company.
Phillip thought she was very capable, but he also felt sorry for her.
“It’s not hard” Seeing Phillip cough lightly, Mirabella said with concern, “It’s windy outside, you should go inside and not catch a cold.”
“It’s okay, I’ll walk you out” Phillip accompanied Mirabella for a walk, they were still some distance from the gate.
As they walked, he said, “I remember the first time you saved me.”
At that time, all the doctors suggested giving him sedatives and heart medicine, only Mirabella was firmly against it.
If it weren’t for her insistence, he might have been dead long ago.
“If it wasn’t for you, how could I be here walking with you, waiting for my wife to wake up?”
“It’s all fate.” Mirabella smiled lightly and said, “Alright, you can stop here; you should go inside.”
Even though his health had improved a lot, he still needed to be careful..
“When you’re free these next few days, come here for a meal with Romeo; whether it’s lunch or dinner, it’s fine. We can chat and go for a walk after we eat.” He enjoyed chatting with Mirabella; it brought him a lot of joy.
Mirabella wasn’t like other rich girls who’d go out of their way to please him, treading on eggshells around him. Instead, she spoke her mind while also being considerate of his feelings.
But she wasn’t like some people who were too blunt and whose words and actions would get on his nerves.
“Alright, I’ll swing by when I have a moment.” Mirabella hopped into the car. As the car started, she glanced at her grandpa through the rearview mirror. He was still standing there, watching her leave.
“Gramps really digs you, you know,” Romeo gently said.
This fondness wasn’t because she had helped him and then saved his wife.
It was Mirabella’s way of dealing with the world that made him feel at ease.
Romeo dropped Mirabella off at Reflections Villa and then presented her with two boxes filled with the herbal medicine she wanted.
Mirabella was a bit taken aback. This was more than they had originally agreed on!
“These are from my personal stash; you can use them first.” Romeo placed the boxes into her hands and said, “I’ll find more later.
“No need.” Mirabella knew these two items were pretty rare, and this quantity was worth at least a billion.
“Stop being silly; don’t be shy with me.” Romeo affectionately patted her head and said, “Go inside; I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning.”
“Okay.” Mirabella entered the house, clutching the two boxes. Suddenly, her phone started vibrating. An incoming call.
Mirabella took out her phone to answer a call, only speaking after Romeo had left, “Jack.”
[Mirabella, it’s day 10! If the Meltons don’t pay up, Fiona is going to take them to court!]
Mirabella remembered that.
Fiona had signed a contract with Yolanda before, hoping that Yolanda could be the spokesperson for their piano brand. But there was a clause in the contract that Yolanda couldn’t have any negative news during the contract period; otherwise, she would have to pay ten times the breach of contract penalty.
Yolanda was accused of plagiarism, violating the terms of the contract. Fiona demanded that the Meltons pay five million in compensation within ten days, or she would take the matter to court.
Today was the last day.
[Should we sit back and see how Fiona handles this?]
“It’s not time yet.” Mirabella answered indifferently, “Stick to the original plan.”
[Okay.]
At this point, the Melton family was in a bind. They had never expected that of the 8 downtown stores they planned to sell, not a single one had been sold. Ten days had passed, and there were no interested buyers.
“Could Mirabella be pulling strings behind the scenes? Otherwise, how could there be no buyers for the stores in ten days?”
Olga Melton was as anxious as a cat on a hot tin roof, but Demetrius slammed the table.
“Enough! Can you stop blaming everything on Mirabella? Even if she has some connections, she can’t possibly stop all buyers from purchasing the stores! It’s a market issue, not Mirabella’s problem! Why are you always targeting her?”
“Then you tell me, why can’t our stores be sold? Those are prime locations downtown! The market price is two hundred and fifty thousand each; we’ve already dropped the price to two hundred thousand!”
“You’re asking me, how would I know?” Demetrius had had enough. For ten days, he had not eaten properly or slept well.
He didn’t understand why their once smooth life had turned into such a mess.
Since Mirabella left the house in less than a month’s time, their life had turned upside down and become so terrible.
Demetrius couldn’t help but recall the past. It seemed that the Meltons business had only started to improve and become more successful after Mirabella came.
Ever since she left, everything has gone downhill.
“What should we do? In another hour, Fiona is going to sue us! They’ve already prepared the legal documents!” Olga was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. “Once they post the legal documents on their official account, everyone will know about Yolanda’s plagiarism. Not only will her reputation be affected, but even Meltons reputation will be hit.”
Demetrius held his temples in pain. Listening to Olga’s nagging in his ear, his mood became even more irritable.
“In this way, the six hundred thousand we paid to Mirabella before was a complete waste.”
Yolanda also started to feel scared and uneasy.”
It’s all Mirabella’s fault; everything was fine at home without her.
“Can you call the real estate agent again?” Olga begged, “Only half an hour left!“.
“I called 20 minutes ago.”
“Reach out to them again!” Olga thought of a person suddenly popping into her mind. “The guy who bought the house and shop from us last time should go check with the agent. See if they still have his contact info; ask if he’s still interested in buying, even if we have to knock down the price a bit.”
As long as the other party could cough up five million to bail them out, they’d have to grit their teeth and take it!
Demetrius also felt a flicker of hope. Last time, the guy wired him six million in no time.
This meant this guy was loaded, probably on par with him
Not a regular Joe!
“What are you still doing standing there? Make the call!” As Olga said this, she anxiously checked the time–only 26 minutes left!
