Filed To Story: Returning to Her Not-So-Poor Family
Regardless of whether it’s out of kindness, curiosity, pity, or sympathy, the gaze from outsiders can be very troubling for the disabled.
“You’re a designer now. You should design the most suitable outfit for her. That’s your job.”
Taking Mirabella’s words to heart, Molly focused her attention again. She used the materials provided by the organizers to design cool sportswear for Britanny. She didn’t ask for Mirabella’s opinion but decided to expose Britanny’s prosthetic leg.
This was exactly what Mirabella had hoped for.
In contrast, designers number 21 and 29 chose to cover the scars and disabilities of their models, trying to make them look like normal people.
Forty minutes later, the three models walked the runway wearing custom–made outfits.
Hans picked up the microphone and asked Molly about her design concept, Why did you decide to expose her prosthetic leg?”
Molly took the microphone and said seriously, “I want to tell Britanny and all those like her not to worry about making us uncomfortable with your prosthetics. I think it’s your unique mark, and you should show it off confidently. You deserve to be admired and liked.”
At these words, Britanny’s eyes welled up with tears.
“No one has the right to judge you, to criticize your shortcomings. You are the ones who determine your own worth. Although people often associate a healthy body with sports, in reality, sports is more about a spirit of resilience. Even if you’ve lost a leg, it can’t stop you from loving sports. You can still run on the field and show what you’re made of.”
Britanny nodded, unable to hold back her tears.
“I want to let all of you know, society is more accepting than you think. I also hope that everyone out there, don’t judge these girls by their physical conditions. They’re kind, friendly, and they deserve all the good things this world has to offer. Thanks.”
After Molly finished her speech, she gave a deep bow. The applause from the audience lasted for a while, clearly moved by her words.
“Now, I am pleased to announce that the first place designer this competition is number 16, Molly!”
Many audience members stood up, clapping enthusiastically.
“Molly! Molly! Molly!”
“You’re a true champ!”
Britanny walked up and hugged her, “Thank you for giving me courage and hope
“You’re cool and pretty,” Molly sincerely replied, “You’ll definitely achieve great things.”
Britanny smiled, “And you’ll be an amazing designer. I believe in you.”
“Thanks.”
As she stepped off stage, before Molly could even reach the founge area, she was already surrounded by a crowd.
“Hi, where are you currently working? I’m a manager at a clothing company, and I want to invite you to be our design mentor, with a monthly salary of five thousand dollars.”
“I’m a Deputy General Manager of another clothing company. We also want you to join us, with a monthly salary of ten thousand dollars, three days off per week, thirty days of annual leave, and double pay for annual bonuses.”
“Hi, I’m the head of another clothing company. We want you to be our design department manager, with a monthly salary of fifteen thousand dollars.” Listening to these offers, which were getting higher and higher, Molly was shocked and quickly waved her hands to refuse.
“Thank you for your kind offers, but I already have a job now. I’m not considering a change at the moment, thank you.”
“Are you unsatisfied with the salary? Or if you have any other ideas, let us know, and we can discuss them.”
“If you’re not happy with our salary and benefits, we can talk to the headquarters, and try to get you a better deal.”
Here’s my card. If you think it over, call mel.“..
In the end, Molly received almost twenty business cards.
Meanwhile, Mirabella was trailing behind them at a distance, no longer needing the champion title.
Watching Molly shine, a soft light appeared in her eyes..
That’s when her phone rang.
“Those twenty–something punks from last night, we beat them up all night, and they finally confessed.”
“It was Myra who made them do it. She said if they seriously injured you, you wouldn’t be able to compete.”
“Why do you, with your high status, need to compete?”
Jack was clearly confused.
“I see.”
After hanging up the phone, Mirabella’s eyes turned icy.
Molly finally managed to shake off the crowd, grabbing Mirabella’s arm, “That was scary, Bella. I’ll treat you to dinner after I change. You’re the real hero for our win! This meal’s on me!”
Molly knew deep down that it was because of Mirabella’s help that her designs were noticed.
Without Mirabella, she might always be an unremarkable designer.
At this moment, only Myra and the third and fourth designers were left in the lounge area, and the other unsuccessful contestants had already left.
“Why are you a lot even alive, being so useless?” Myra sneered after slapping the fourth designer when she suddenly heard Molly’s voice from outside.
“Last night, I said I’d treat you to dinner, but it fell through, and you got hurt.” Molly felt terribly guilty as she trailed behind Mirabella, “Today, I insist on treating you.”
“All you did was win first place. What’s so great about that?” Myra rolled her eyes at Molly, who just walked in, mocking her, “Treat her to dinner? Do you even have money? You look like you’re broke”
Before she could finish, Myra’s face was met with a resounding slap.
Before anyone could react, Mirabella kicked her into a corner, picked her up like a ragdoll, and threw her onto a chair.
A dozen chairs tumbled over with a loud crash.
“Mirabella, have you lost your mind?” Myra hadn’t expected this girl to dare hit her in the lounge, and before she could get up, Mirabella gave her another beating.
Molly was shocked. What just happened? Did Mirabella beat Myra up because she couldn’t stand her insults?
Mirabella was so brave!
She was touched.
“That’s enough.” Myra’s face was swollen from the beating, “I’ll call the cops.”
“Good riddance!” The third and fourth designers took off their competition badges and throw them at Myra.
I’ve had enough of you!” The third designer suddenly kicked her.
The fourth designer stomped on Myra, “I quit!”
“You guys!” Myra was furious.
Hans left the judges‘ table, turned down a bunch of people trying to schmooze him, and asked a staffer, “Where’s Mirabella?”
“She should be in the lounge.”
Hans headed towards the lounge.
A few staff members around them whispered.
“He really seems to like that assistant of the 16th designer.”
“He’s so concerned about her, asking where she is even after the competition.”
“Do you think that assistant might marry him?”
Mirabella kicked Myra into a corner, “Did you have something to do with last night?”
Molly understood what was happening when she heard, “She hired people to beat us up last night? Did she want to stop us from competing? Let me at her.”
She rushed over, kicking and cursing at Myra, “You maniac, I’ll kill you!”
When Hans arrived backstage, he saw the spectacle. Molly, the usually innocent–looking 16th designer, was furiously beating a girl on the floor, while shouting.
“If you have a grudge against me, come at me! Why did you go after Mirabella? You hurt her hand!”
Hans’s expression darkened. The injury on Mirabella’s wrist, was caused by the girl on the floor?
“More than twenty thugs came to beat us up. Did you want us dead? You’re insane!” Molly sat on Myra, hitting her hard, “The thugs had clubs and knives. Do you know how we survived last night?”
Hans’s expression turned even colder. More than twenty thugs against two girls? One of them, his sister!
“Stop it.” Myra covered her face with her hands. Through the gap, she seemed to see her’saviour, “Mr. Collins? Mr. Collins, please save me.“.
Upon hearing this, everyone turned their heads, seeing Hans standing by the doorway.
Molly was stunned.
She started to worry. Would the boss think she had some screws loose and fire her?
“Mr. Collins, your employee attacked mé! You can’t just stand by and do nothing! Look at my injuries. Such a person should be fired; she’s only going to cause embarrassment for your company!”
As Myra said this, she glared venomously at Molly and said, “I’ll tell the press about this–how this year’s design competition winner is fighting in the break room! I’ll make you front–page news!”
Before Molly could even get a word in to explain herself to the boss, Hans nonchalantly said, “Good job.”
