Amber glared at Emma, her eyes burning with a deadly hatred. It was clear that Amber blamed Emma; she could think of no one else who hated her so much that they would take her down like this.
“Emma must have known about the pregnancy,” thought Amber. “She must have kept her knowledge hidden while she planned out the perfect trap. She didn’t just lash out at me; she didn’t retaliate when I was stepping all over her. She waited for the right moment, a time she knew the whole world would witness my humiliation. She chose the Top 10 Model Awards so that she could push me down so far I would never recover. What an evil, clever scheme! How could I have underestimated her so much?”
Amber covered her face and cried, “Emma, how could you do this to me?” Amber wailed through her hands, trying to regain control of her emotions. Emma just looked at Amber with no expression on her face. Her voice was flat and absolutely emotionless as she said, “Don’t you think this is just what you deserve? You need to stand up now. It’s time to leave the stage. You’ve been officially eliminated.”
Amber felt a wave of nausea as she clenched her teeth. She tried to stand but then began to feel odd, as if her body was growing heavier and heavier. She felt a sudden pain in her lower back and the sense that something was very wrong. She looked down at the stage and began to moan at the sight. The audience was soon on their feet, looking at the dark stains spreading below Amber. “It’s blood!” someone called out. “Amber’s bleeding! Someone call 9-1-1! She’s gonna lose the baby!”
Very quickly, EMS personnel appeared. They surrounded Amber to assess the situation and give her some privacy, and then helped her onto a stretcher, quickly wheeling her off the stage. Despite her situation, Amber continued to glare at Emma, directing one last threat to her before she was out of sight. “Just you wait, this isn’t over yet. Nathan still has something in store for you.”
She expected that Emma would show some fear at her words, but she remained calm. “She must be so sure she’s taken me down completely,” thought Amber, “that she has no fear of Nathan. She’s actually frightening to me.”
The entire incident, although it seemed to last forever, ended up being just a small part of the evening. The organizers paused the ceremony for about 20 minutes while Amber was taken to the hospital. Soon, word spread that she had indeed miscarried. So much had been lost in just one evening. The award ceremony, however, eventually resumed, and Emma returned to her seat.
Mark Whittaker peered at her through the crowd. He realized that he was slightly afraid of her. He’d always thought Emma was at a disadvantage in the power struggle with Amber, but now that he’d witnessed her dominance right in front of his eyes…

I never thought about the kind of contribution I could make during the photo shoots for the magazines. I simply wanted to do my best for my clients and my profession. Thank you again.”
Emma lifted her head and looked straight ahead, as if searching for one specific person, hoping that person would be seeing her clearly right now. Right now, she couldn’t wait to be with Eric. She had so much to tell him.
