The next day, Amber couldn’t find Nathan at home or at the office. When he finally returned home late in the evening, his eyes were glazed over and he reeked of alcohol. Amber approached him and gently shook his shoulder.

“Nathan, Nathan, where were you?” she asked. He mumbled something under his breath, but she couldn’t tell what he was saying. He sat down on the couch and closed his eyes, his briefcase slipping out of his hand and onto the floor.

Amber quietly opened the briefcase and found the agreement between him and Mark Whittaker inside. She picked it up to take a closer look and snapped a photo of it with her phone before carefully placing it back where she’d found it. A moment later, Nathan opened his eyes and saw Amber in front of him. He instantly sobered up and pushed her away.

“Amber, you’re free. Go get an abortion if you want to. You can also move out when you’re ready. There’s nothing left between us,” he said, standing up and heading into the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him.

The ear-shattering sound echoed through the apartment. Amber glared coldly in his direction as he disappeared from her sight.

She then looked at the photo she had taken of the agreement. Mark’s first condition was that Nathan had to set Amber free and not cause her any more trouble. His second condition was Emma.

Amber sneered. She wanted to ridicule Nathan for his naivete, as if that old sleaze bag would be so generous, she thought. He only agreed to give out awards so he would have a constant supply of new models in his bed.

Unknowingly, Nathan hadn’t betrayed just these two women; he’d also sold off all of his future artists too. But that didn’t matter to Amber.

She was happily thinking about how Nathan had sold the high and mighty Emma off for such a cheap price.

Plus, she was about to go home with the Top 10 Model Award and a contract with Creative Century. Luckily, she had the evidence against Mark in her hands. Once the ceremony was over, she would get rid of him.

“Emma,” she thought, “you were just ruthlessly sold off by the man you once loved.” Amber smirked as she looked down at her slim waist.

She could finally get her pregnancy taken care of. Unfortunately, the next few days wouldn’t be a good time for her to do it. The awards ceremony was approaching quickly, and there were too many eyes on her.

So she decided to wait until after the ceremony to make the arrangements. Everything seemed perfect to Amber in that moment. She never imagined she would have a chance to start fresh like this.

That evening, Emma’s flight landed in New York. Since her schedule had been kept confidential, not many people knew of her return. The news about her using men to advance her career was still being circulated, but she hadn’t responded to any requests for an explanation. Outside the airport, Luke and Lisa were waiting to drive Emma and Eric home. The couple had left the airport separately before meeting back at the limousine. Lisa helped them with their bags while Luke started the car. Luke turned around in his seat to look at them.

“I know you’ve both been working hard lately, but are you really not going to respond to the news that H World leaked? Has Mr. Benedict made any moves?” Emma asked gently.

“No, he doesn’t care about gossip like this,” Luke said, shaking his head.

“And Star Age is keeping their response ambiguous on purpose. They want to cause confusion so that your relationship with Global will continue to fall apart. Also, from what I’ve gathered, Star Age and the new model Ariel have been getting very close.”

Emma let out a gentle laugh and then took a deep breath. “Then let’s disregard it,” she said. “When the time is right, the truth will reveal itself. The fact that someone is trying to cause a scandal for you means you’re standing in someone’s way,” Eric said.

“It also means you’re an important person.” He put an arm around her and pulled her close to him. She smiled and closed her eyes. “My heart can’t be shattered that easily,” she thought. “Not after nine years of training my emotions.

A small scandal like this doesn’t affect me at all. After all, a much bigger news story is about to be released, and when that happens, this little piece of gossip will be forgotten in an instant.”

Emma turned to look at Lisa, who was scrolling through the news on her phone. “Is Amber still pregnant?” she asked. “Of course, I guarantee it,” Lisa said, smiling and nodding her head. “I’ve been keeping a close eye on her since the award ceremony is approaching. Any news about her would be leaked right away. If she’s going to go to the clinic and risk being seen, it won’t be until after she gets the award.”

“Good,” Emma replied calmly. She gazed out the window. “I’ve been waiting a long time for this day to come,” she thought. Eric looked at her and realized he didn’t need to worry about her as she had everything under control. But he still instructed Luke to keep an eye on anything related to the annual model awards ceremony. He held Emma’s hand and comforted her gently. “Don’t worry, your wish will come true,” he said. “Even if the whole world turns against you, I will take on all of them for you.” She squeezed his hand and smiled softly. She knew he always did as he said.

Lisa watched as the two let their affection show. She realized Emma only revealed her softer side in front of Eric. Although she often smiled in front of others, that smile was merely polite and sometimes a bit cold. And when she wanted to be ruthless, she didn’t hold back. Luke was already accustomed to the sight of their private personas. Everyone knew how Eric presented himself in public, but when he was with Emma, he was a gentle and responsible husband. It was like he wanted to give her all the love in the world. “These two are like one extreme meeting another,” Luke thought.

“For the past two days, the entertainment news has been focused on the award ceremony. Unfortunately for Emma, she was merely a guest award presenter and not a nominee,” Eric found Emma on the couch, staring at the TV in a daze.

He sat down next to her. “If I remember correctly, you’ve already received this award,” he said in a comforting tone. “So the feeling of getting it must not be foreign to you.”

“That was many years ago,” she said, turning to look at him. “Plus, at the time, the award had just been created, and the rules weren’t set in stone yet. It wasn’t as valuable as it is now.”

“Do you regret it?” he asked as he rubbed her shoulder. She shook her head and smiled. “Of course not. It may be more valuable now, but look how easily Amber managed to get one using her contacts. It’s clear that the award is no longer given out fairly.

And what use do I have for an unfair award? This ceremony is the battlefield, all used to take down Amber. Tomorrow night, she’ll be more nervous than I was when I received my award.”

Eric smiled and kissed her cheek. “I won’t be making an appearance at the ceremony, but as usual, I’m looking forward to watching your performance on the live broadcast.” Emma straightened up and kissed him on the lips. “When have I ever let you down?”
