(Scarlett)
“Hello there, little wolf.” I said, smiling at my daughter as I dressed her.
Alexander and I were going out with Anastasia today, mostly because we wanted to know whether there was anyone who knew anything about what happened with his parents.
The fact that Luna Katlyn was alive should have been assuring, but it was alarming for the two of us. Mostly because now, we didn’t know what to expect.
The Alpha and Luna have played a dangerous game, and the thing is, I didn’t know what the outcome of it would be. I only knew that it wasn’t going to be one that is pleasant. To say the least, I knew that Alex felt the same way.
Alexander was downstairs with Alpha Vladimir. They were going to start discussing things as Alphas, as far as I understood from the way that they spoke last night. Though what the outcome of this would be, I wasn’t sure. I didn’t know whether or not I could trust the Alpha, especially after what I heard from my husband, but then again, I wasn’t stupid, nothing came for free, and this was just one of the things that didn’t.
I smiled at my princess before leaning in to k*iss her. She giggled and pulled my hair, and shaking my head, I carried her and walked out of the room. My eyes scanned my surrounding for the first time since we came here. The anger that I had in me was distracting me from what was important, and that was getting everything back to normal. I knew that we would need to start from scratch from here, and I wasn’t blind or dumb, I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. But I knew for fact that I was willing to be by my mate’s side through it all. If anything, I wanted to be his support, and that was something that I was going to prove to him, at least, I wanted him to know that he was not alone in this, and that was something that I personally needed to work on.
I needed to remind myself that it wasn’t going to be about whatever conflicts that the two of us have had. Yes, they were h*ard and painful, for the two of us, but that was something that I needed to drop IF I wanted to live in peace with him and if I wanted to grow stronger. The weakness that I was going through was not going to get me anywhere, and that was something that I needed to start putting in my head. If anything, I had to drill it in my mind to ensure that I did not forget it.
“Luna?” I heard from behind me. I held on Anastasia and turned on to face the woman who smiled at me. She extended her finger to Anastasia who giggled and took it in her small hand before she nodded at me, “it is nice to see that you would be joining us for breakfast today.”
“I was having a rough few days with the jetlag and time difference, but things are somewhat better today.” I said, and she smiled. The two of us walked down the stairs, heading toward the dining room where I found my husband standing beside Alpha Vladimir. He smiled when he saw me and I couldn’t help but blush when he walked toward me and k*issed me. His k*iss was gentle, and for the first time in months, he didn’t seem to care about anything or anyone looking at the two of us. If anything, it was like he was proudly showing me off as his mate, and that was something that I couldn’t help but feel thankful for.
“Good morning,” he said, and I smiled, biting my bottom l*ip before he k*issed Anastasia who was clearly waiting for her father to notice her. He k*issed the crown of her head before running his finger over my cheek, making my heart skip a beat.
“Morning, my love.” I said, and he smiled. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me toward the dining table where Alpha Vladimir stood, watching the two of us. He simply nodded at me, and I returned the favor and smiled.
“I take it that the two of you have had a nice night yesterday,” he stated, and Alexander tightened his grip around me. I smiled and nodded.
“Thank you for your concern, and yes, we did, Alpha.” I said politely. He smiled and nodded before nodding at us to take a seat. Both Alexander and I did, and I raised an eyebrow when I noticed a baby chair beside my seat.
“I believe that you can sit a little more comfortably with your daughter on a baby chair, though she is still too young for it. But I am considering the fact that you are choosing to have her joining us on the dining table.” Alpha Vladimir said, and I smiled.
“Thank you, Alpha, but I am having her here because we intend to go out in a bit.” I said, and he nodded. “I am aware, and that is something that we are going to need discuss. I believe that your husband would be telling you himself, but I will take the initiative of informing you that the two of you are going to need to be a little more careful from now on.” He said, and I frowned in confusion before shaking my head. I looked at Alexander whose eyes h*ardened before Alpha Vladimir showed me his phone. I frowned at the sight of Carter who was hanged, making my heart drop. “Someone was following you yesterday, aside from the man, they tackled him later and he was found dead. The issue is, there was footage that spread of Alexander and him arguing.”
“They are going to point it out as if Alex did it?” I asked, and the Alpha nodded.
“Yes, and for that, the two of you are going to need to be more careful. I am not sure who is here, but Alpha Alexander and I have already discussed the matter and would be sending troops out to search. As for you and your daughter, you are going to be put under security to ensure that no issues arise.” He said, and I raised an eyebrow at my husband who sighed.
“You and I both know that it is the right thing to do, Scarlett. Please don’t…”
“I am not bothered by the fact that we are going to be put under security, I am just concerned about who would be doing this, and why.” I said, stopping my husband who shook his head in response. “I don’t know, but I think that the two of us may have an idea. They found Kale’s b*ody, and I know that they know that we did it. They are also aware that we are here, though I don’t really understand how they managed to find out, I know that things are not going to be getting any easier from here.” Alexander said, and I nodded. I looked at Anastasia who giggled before she punched the table twice. I smiled and k*issed the crown of her head before my eyes h*ardened as I turned my attention to the Pakhan.
“And can I ask what we plan to do from here? I am well aware that you two might have a plan, and I think that you, Alex, are very well aware that I don’t like being kept vague.” I said, and Alexander smiled. I knew that he liked it when I was confident about what I had in mind, but that wasn’t the only thing that he was proud of.
It was the fact that I wasn’t cowering back or worrying too much. If anything, I knew that he two of us were going to go through a lot more than just this conflict with the pack.
And the two of us needed to make sure that we proved our point. Us weakening was not going to get us anywhere, and I knew that the last thing we needed was for anyone to think that they could have an upper hand on us.
Even if it meant that we were to stand for ourselves, on our own, without the help of anyone. “For now, it would be security. We are running a scan over the area to check for anything that could seem out of the ordinary.” Alexander said, looking at Vladimir who nodded. “As for keeping you vague, you are my Luna, and I think that you are well aware that the last thing I’m going to do is keep you vague.”
