Rosie regarded the Barretts with disdain, reflecting on how Mack and Alec’s previous inaction had given her the chance to strike Ruby.

What was the point of Mack’s threat now?

Rosie’s response was cold, her smile chilling. “If you don’t want to go bankrupt, you’d better listen to me,” she said.

Alec helped Ruby to her feet, and the couple remained silent, watching Mack closely to see how he would respond.

Mack saw Rosie as completely irrational. He was baffled by her intentions-was she trying to dismantle the Barrett family or offering a strange kind of help?

“What is it that you actually want?” he asked.

Rosie stepped forward, holding out her hand. “Give me your phone so we can exchange contact information. I’ll send work your way when it suits me, but you must follow my commands. If not, you’ll find yourself bankrupt and homeless.”

“Really? That’s hard to believe!” Mack responded skeptically, but still pulled out his phone and shared his contact details.

Rosie tapped Mack’s cheek with disdain, a smirk playing on her lips. “Just wait and see.”

With that, she turned and walked back toward the Peace Hotel.

Only then did Ruby cry out loudly, “She hit me!”

Alec and Mack exchanged a glance before both spat in the direction Rosie had just left.

Alec said angrily, “There’s no making peace with the Harpers! One day, I’ll bring them down!”

Mack, boiling with resentment, muttered under his breath, “Brenna will get what’s coming to her!”

Instead of heading home, the battered family went straight to the hospital, where they stayed several days to recover.

Meanwhile, Brenna, unfazed by these events, was woken the next morning by a reminder from Sylvie to meet at the…

Brenna received a reminder from Sylvie about their meeting at the Imperial Bar that evening. After ending the call, she went back to bed, not rising until the afternoon.

When she woke, Brenna settled at the dining table and began sifting through a pile of messages from Ethan, several friend requests, and new chat group notifications. Only after addressing these digital demands did she manage to eat.

Rosie also got up around that time. She approached Brenna calmly and said, “I was wrong about you earlier. Let’s put it behind us. It was just a small misunderstanding.”

Brenna dismissed the gesture with a cool response, “There’s no need for you to put on an act like this in front of me. I don’t think we need to become friends.”

Rosie’s claim that it was just a small misunderstanding was something Brenna never believed. To her, it was Rosie’s inability to accept the special place Brenna held in Shepard’s and Giselle’s hearts.

“Can’t you be a little nicer?” Rosie thought, unable to tolerate Brenna’s arrogance. It was obvious to her that Brenna wanted to win over the Harper family and stay, but her forced indifference only made her seem insincere, which irritated Rosie deeply.

Brenna shot Rosie a sharp glance, her expression void of warmth. “If you want me to sugarcoat things, I can. Just stop plotting against me behind my back, and we can live together in peace,” she said.

For a split second, Rosie felt exposed, as if Brenna could see right through her. A wave of unease crept over her. Could Brenna already know about her secret plan to use the Barrett family against her? Rosie shook off the thought and quickly denied it, saying, “When have I ever plotted against you behind your back? Don’t just throw around baseless accusations.”

“You know in your heart whether I’ve accused you wrongly or not,” Brenna replied calmly.

Without another word, she turned her attention to the flood of new messages from her contacts, ignoring Rosie completely.

Soon after, Rosie finished her meal. Bored, she grabbed her bag and headed out.

At exactly four in the afternoon, Brenna arrived at the Imperial Bar.

Nestled in the heart of Shirie’s busiest district, the Imperial Bar was one of the most prestigious venues in the city, renowned for its impeccable service and elite clientele.

Spanning nine lavishly decorated floors, the bar was known for its exclusivity and steep prices. Entry was restricted to members. Nonmembers could only drink on the first floor, while members had access to the upper levels.

Membership was divided into three tiers: basic, premium, and black-gold. A basic membership required a deposit of one hundred thousand, premium demanded one million, and black-gold status wasn’t something money alone could buy.

Rosie, Sylvie, and Vivian were all premium members and patrons who had long established themselves as regulars.

As Brenna stepped inside, her eyes landed on Sylvie and Vivian standing by the elevator. Both were dressed to impress, exuding allure. Their deliberate display of their figures made Brenna glance at them a couple more times.

Sylvie greeted Brenna with a warm smile. “Right on time,” she said.

Though her tone was friendlier than before, there was still a flicker of disdain in her gaze. To Sylvie, Brenna was naive and unfamiliar with high society.

Inside the elevator, Sylvie wasted no time explaining the rules. She said, “This place runs on a strict membership system. Everyone here is either rich or powerful, so mind your manners. One wrong move, and you might offend someone important. Even I have people here I can’t afford to cross, so be careful.”

Vivian exchanged a knowing glance with Sylvie. Both wore smug expressions. In their minds, once Brenna stepped into this world, she would be entirely at their mercy, with no way to call for help from the Harper family.

They saw Brenna quietly observe her surroundings. It was clear this was her first time here, which only made things easier for them. Vivian chuckled and tried to appear as friendly as she could. She said, “We’ll introduce you to a friend later. He’s well-connected in both legal and… less official circles in Shirie. If you ever need anything, you can go to him.”

“His name is Joonas Fowler, the owner of this bar,” Sylvie added. “He is generous and enjoys making new friends.”

Brenna gave a casual nod. She wasn’t naive. Joonas was likely a gang leader, and she knew Sylvie and Vivian had ulterior motives. Nonetheless, she remained unfazed.

She had faced far more dangerous people. Joonas was nothing more than a small-time player in comparison.

Moments later, they arrived at a private suite. The thick carpeting in the hallway muffled their footsteps. Sylvie pressed a hand against the door and pushed it open.

The suite was lavishly decorated, its walls lined with soundproof materials. Music played inside, yet not a sound could be heard outside.

Under the dim lighting, a group of young men and women lounged in colorful designer outfits. Their faces were familiar. Most belonged to second-tier or third-tier wealthy families in Shirie.
