(Alexander)
I stared at my wife who was putting our daughter to sleep.
The two of us have just settled in our room, and the fact that I knew that we both needed to talk was something that I couldn’t just drop. Especially when I knew that we had a LOT to talk about.
I wrapped my arm around her as she sat on the edge of the bed, running her fingers through her hair.
My beauty was angry, and that was something that I knew very well. The thing was, I didn’t know how I could help her with the anger that she was feeling.
The woman has dealt with far more than anyone should have dealt with in a short period of time, and rather than being happy and enjoying the moments that she was happy to live through, she was f*orced to live with a pain that she didn’t expect to go through. And not only that, but she was f*orced to go through more than anyone could have ever gone through with those that she thought that she could call family.
“You know that I can read your pain and your anger a mile away, right?” I asked, smiling at my beauty who sighed as she turned to face me. She wrapped her arms around me and sat on my lap, laying her head on the crook of my n*eck as if trying to hide in my embrace.
“I am scared, angry, frustrated, and I really can’t say or do anything about it. The fact that the man was roaming free and has built his own empire on what belonged to me is not something that I can find myself ignoring. My heart hurts when I think of and I know for fact that right now, I really can’t do anything about it. The man was already happy living with what he has, and I am the last of my bloodline.” She said, and I smiled before k*issing her cheek.
“Are you ignoring the fact that Anastasia is your daughter?” I asked, taking her off guard. “Or the fact that the two of us are going to end up building a bigger family with your bloodline being merged with mine to create beautiful children who would be Alpha bloods?”
“Alexander, you know that you are missing the point. The man looked me in the eye for years. He raised me, claiming to care about me when I meant no shit to him. He wanted me as your wife for reasons that I don’t even know, and yet, he chose to put me and my family as the lowest ranks in the pack.” She said, glaring at me. I knew that she wanted to tell me that she lived as if she were nothing when it was us who got everything, but she f*orced herself to stay quiet and maintain whatever feelings she was having as she tried controlling her pain and anger.
“I know that you are angry with what you found out, and believe me, if it were up to me, I would be the one making it up to you. But for now, we both know that we need to fight this battle somehow, and that won’t be happening if we end up acting on emotions. I do hope that you understand me, Scarlett.” I said, and she nodded as I wiped her tears. “I know that you are hurting, and I understand that you might think that I am not even worth being an Alpha…”
“Alex…”
“Please listen to me, Scarlett.” I said, stopping her. She looked down at my c*hest as her heart raced against her ribcage, and I tightened my arms around her waist, making her g*rind against my h*ardening c*ock as I leaned in to k*iss her. “I don’t blame you for your anger, and I won’t look at you any differently because of it. But what would make me look at you differently is you hiding the fact that you are angry with me. Why? Because I would know that you would easily be able to hide more than just that from me.”
“Alexander, I can’t just tell you that I am hating the fact that you are an Alpha. I know that it might not make sense to you, but…”
“No, it would, because I know you, it would.” I said, stopping her. “I know that you are used to masking your pain, and I know that you think that it would anger me if you choose to open up about things like this. But believe me, what angers me is you hiding something like this from me. Why? Because it gives me the impression that you can hide a lot more than just that.”
“My love for you beats my need or want for power.” She said, taking me off guard. “Yes, I will admit that I am furious about what you father did, and I am going to admit, I hate the fact that I can’t do anything about it. But I will not take my anger out of the man who did nothing to me. Therefore, no, if you got your place as Alpha, it is because you inherited it from your father. You were not the killer of my family nor were you in charge of what he has done to them when choosing to demote them as omegas.”
The fact that they could have died was something that both Scarlett and I knew very well. And I knew that it would have been less humiliating than being demoted as they were.
The pain that they must have lived through, seeing what they fought to build being taken away was something that I couldn’t help but relate to, especially since I was going through the same thing with my own father who has taken more from me than I could have possibly imagined.
The man has let the pack go for years before giving me his place.
The pack was mostly out of order and needed a lot of modifications at the time. The rules, the pack members order, their training. I needed to reset everything to ensure that we had a proper family and pack. It just sickened me that after all the efforts placed, the man was just going to take everything as if he was the one who achieved it.
“I know that I can’t give you back what you have lost, but I give you my word, Scarlett, I will make them all pay for what you went through.” I said, giving my mate the promise that might soothe her. “I know that my words might not be enough, but I am going to prove to you that I won’t let your pain go the way that it always had.”
I cupped her cheeks and connected my l*ips with hers. “I give you my f*ucking word.”
