Tears streaming, she shook her head desperately. “You can’t treat me like this! Simon, I really…WOO…”
Two filthy socks were jammed firmly into her mouth.
The stench made her eyes roll white; strength seemed to drain from her at once. If Jackson’s men hadn’t gripped her shoulders tight, she might have convulsed to the ground.
Jackson had already opened her recent call log. The top entry was a call from a man named Tigre. He tapped the name with a finger, and his arrogant features darkened. Seeing Elsa’s lips trembling with panic, he guessed Tigre was likely the kidnapper ringleader.
He wasted no time and dialed.
“Miss, what would you have me do?”
Tigre picked up quickly. As soon as the call connected, the roar of waves came through the line. Jackson’s suspicion hardened. Tigre and his men were probably already on a boat trying to flee -yet they had driven a pregnant woman off the cliff into the sea, leaving her nearly certain to die. He couldn’t possibly let them walk away.
Ashton, standing nearby, heard everything. He wasn’t willing to let the kidnappers escape either. One of his bodyguards could mimic voices; he had him come over and imitate Elsa.
Jackson typed rapidly, and the bodyguard read the words on his phone: “Tigre, I’m worried about you all. Are you safe? Don’t worry, Miss-after we threw Lily off the cliff, we boarded and left quickly. We’ll lie low in Harbortown until this blows over, then head back to Capital City. Don’t worry, Miss-you’re Jimmy’s only bloodline. Even if Jimmy’s gone, my brothers and I will take care of you; we’ll go through fire and water for you.”
“Tigre, thank you.”
The bodyguard, mimicking Elsa’s tone, added earnestly, “This whole thing was thanks to you. I don’t know how badly Lily would have bullied me if not for you. Have you found a place in Harbortown? There’s a villa Simon once gave me-if you haven’t found lodging yet, you can stay there.”
Tigre had expected to rent a room in Harbortown. But who wanted a rented room when they could take a villa? He thought keeping a little of Elsa’s favor for himself was fine. After a moment’s thought he replied respectfully, “Then I’ll thank you on behalf of Lao Mao and the others.”
The bodyguard then told Tigre the villa’s location and its gate code. Of course the villa wasn’t Simon’s gift to Elsa-it belonged to Jackson. Jackson and Ashton had quietly stationed men near the villa, ready to catch them in a trap.
Bitch!
Elsa wasn’t a fool-she knew Jackson planned to lure Tigre and his men to the villa and capture them. She raged inside. I wish I could find Lily’s body and tear it apart.I wish I could rip that madman Jackson to pieces.
But her body was held fast by Jackson’s men and her mouth stuffed with foul socks; she couldn’t make Jackson pay, nor could she form a single whole word.
When Jackson ended the call, hatred rose in Simon’s eyes like a tide of blood. He was already stunned and furious that Elsa had impersonated Lizzy; the idea that she’d staged the kidnapping himself made his blood run cold.
Once the fog lifted, his mind raced. Elsa had wanted Lily to see, with her own eyes, whom Simon would choose. Since Elsa had staged it, she must have maliciously told Lily that he was her boy. Lily had truly learned his identity. In those two days under the rubble she had entrusted everything to him. He could not imagine how devastated she must have felt when he abandoned her-she must regret ever comforting and encouraging him. She might even feel disgusted by their meeting.
Regret and self-loathing gnawed at him until he felt like dying. He clutched his chest as if to squeeze the pain out.
“Elsa, you had Lizzy shoved off the cliff-“
His voice went thin and cold, sharper than a blood-stained blade. “You deceived me, treated me like a fool… You hurt Lizzy again and again, and even tried to have her killed with her babies. I won’t simply send you off to die-ending your life cleanly would be too cheap for you. I will let you live in fear and never be able to die. Elsa, for the rest of your life, I will not have peace- and neither will you. We both belong in hell!”
“Simon, no, please!”
Elsa was so scared that she was trembling.
Simon was arguably the man in this world who favored her the most.
Even though he had a rather cold personality and didn’t smile much in front of her, he had always doted on her and indulged her.
This was the first time she had ever seen him look so ruthless.
When a man dotes on you, he can lay the best of everything in the world before you; he can lift you up to the clouds.
But when they are heartless, they can also make you wretched, debased, and destitute, cruelly casting you down into hell!
She knew he wasn’t just trying to scare her beg for death, and still find no escape. he really would retaliate, torment her, make her
Tears streamed down her face. She hoped that, after all these years of being the closest to him, he would feel sorry for her and spare her.
But no matter how she cried, his eyes, when he looked at her, held only cold indifference and disgust.
She vaguely realized that this time, she was probably completely finished.
“Lily!”
Grace, Zoey, and the others also rushed over as fast as they could after receiving the news.
Looking at the turbulent, boundless deep sea before them, Grace’s face was streaked with tears. “My Lily…”
Seeing the sea surface still covered with search and rescue boats, they naturally knew that Lily had not yet been found.
Zoey turned her head and immediately saw her eldest grandson, soaking wet, lying motionless on the ground.
There was blood on her eldest grandson; clearly, he had ignored his own injuries and jumped into the deep sea to search for Lily.
Unfortunately, he had found nothing.
After such a long time, even if she could be found, they would likely only find a body.
“How could Lily…”
Henry couldn’t help but wipe the corner of his eye, his voice uncontrollably tinged with a distinct sob. “She and James were clearly doing so well, how could…”
Henry had always wanted to hold his great-granddaughter, but in his view, the adult was the most important.
If the baby in Lily’s belly was gone, she and James could still have another child; even if they didn’t, it wouldn’t matter.
But if she was gone… then that would really be the end.
“Lily…”
Nancy was a typical glamorous beauty who didn’t like to cry.
But she regarded Lily as her own daughter. Thinking that she would never be able to see her daughter again, she simply couldn’t hold back the surging tears.
Her shoulders trembled violently, and she was reduced to a tearful mess.
Mary’s eyes were also red. Clearly, she felt terrible upon hearing the news of Lily’s accident.
She wiped the corner of her eye and hoarsely comforted Nancy, “Nancy, don’t cry.”
“That child Lily has a great fortune, perhaps…”
She wanted to say that perhaps Lily was still alive, that perhaps they would find her soon.
But Lily had already fallen into the deep sea for four or five hours. How could she possibly survive?
She couldn’t even convince herself that Lily was safe and sound, so she was completely unable to comfort Nancy, Zoey, and the others.
“Did Lily really fall into the sea?”
Even now, Ivan still couldn’t accept this reality.
He had prepared many gifts, waiting to give them to his little niece.
After James got together with Lily, he was no longer a passionless block of ice but had warmth in his eyes. He really liked the current James, and he also hoped James and Lily would be happy forever.
The news of Lily falling into the sea was like a bolt from the blue for him.
Secing Ashton standing to the side, he quickly strode forward and grabbed his wrist tightly. “Where did Lily fall into the sea? I’ll go find her!”
Ashton pointed to the cliff not far away. Ivan didn’t dare delay for a second and immediately hurried over there with Victor to search.
Blanc and the others actually all knew that after so much time, Lily couldn’t have survived.
