“Right. And why?”

“Because sodium’s dramatic. Like you.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.

He leaned forward. “Or maybe like me. Definitely like me when you smile at someone else.”

I rolled my eyes, trying not to laugh. “Stop flirting.”

“I’m not flirting,” he said, eyes shining. “I’m making scientific observations.”

I shook my head, hiding my smile, and turned the page. But he stood up and walked behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and lowering his face near my neck.

“You smell better than any compound I’ve ever studied,” he whispered.

I turned slightly, meeting his eyes.

“You haven’t studied anything, ever,” I muttered, trying to keep my voice even.

“Exactly,” he murmured, lips brushing my jaw. “So let me study you instead.”

He pulled me to my feet by the waist, the pencil slipping from my hand as he turned me around.

I blinked up at him, my stomach flipping as he trapped me against the table.

“Zane,” I cried, “this isn’t-“

“Sh.” He cut me off, clasping his hand over my mouth.

I fell silent, tilting my face to provide him access to my neck.

“Good girl.” He grinned, attacking me with kisses.

I squealed against his hand, lifting a shoulder to block him out.

But he pushed it back down, then pulled me away from the table, holding me against himself.

His hand lowered from my mouth as I laughed, fingers gripping his hair.

“Stop,” I breathed as he gently pinned me against a bookshelf, still somehow dropping a few books for effect.

I gasped slightly at the cold touch of the bookshelf against my back, but Zane’s warmth was everywhere else. His hands ran down my sides, then cupped my face, and when he kissed me-it was soft. Like he had all the time in the world.

I kissed him back, fingers gripping the front of his shirt, anchoring myself.

Th

The library around us disappeared. The quiet, the cold, the dusty books-none of it mattered. Just Zane. His heartbeat. His mouth on mine. The way he whispered my name between kisses like it was something sacred.

He pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against mine. “See?” he breathed. “Told you chemistry was important.”

I laughed against his mouth. “You’re such a nerd.”

“For you? Always.”

I leaned in and licked the mark on his neck, my own heart skipping a beat as I did.

He growled, his hands gripping onto my wrists at once, snatching back control.

He stared at me with black eyes. “What are you doing?” he said slowly.

I grinned. “What?”

“You really wanna take it there? At school?”

“So what if I do? What if I want to take it all the way, Adams? Just like you were planning for tonight.”

Zane

His eyebrow cocked up. “You knew?

“Duh,” I replied. “After you saw me in that dress, it was obvious.”

His lips curled into a smile. “It would be right, wouldn’t it? It all began at school. It should climax here too,” his words broke off into a laugh at the end.

I chuckled, shooting him a look. “Of course, it should.”

“Okay, then, Little Lia,” he leaned in to my ear, his lips brushing against it, sending shivers down my body. “Let me bully you a bit tonight. For old times’ sake.”

“All night,” I whispered, closing my eyes. “Not just a bit. It should at least get you expelled.”

THE THE TH

-LIA’S POV-

We didn’t plan this when we rolled out of bed in the middle of the night. All I had in mind was to go to school and study.

But how could we hold back any longer?

After we had survived Blake, The Order, death, and even myself, it was time.

It was the right time.

One minute we were tucked behind the library shelves, kissing because neither of us wanted to pull away, and the next… I was lying underneath him, legs tangled around his waist, his jacket beneath me, and my top bunched around my ribs.

My heart was pounding in my ears. Not because I was scared. Because this was it. It was really happening.

Every inch of me was covered in goosebumps, the tingles feeling like fireworks erupting everywhere within me.

Zane kissed me like the world had gone quiet. And it had.

There were no other thoughts on my mind.

Not the Goddess, not the moon, and not what everything meant.

Just Zane. Our bond. And the heat pulsing between us, begging to be cooled.

His mouth claimed mine like I was the only thing in the world that mattered. His hands were eager as he undid my jeans, but mine trembled when I tugged his shirt off. We’d kissed a thousand times before. We’d been close. But not like this. This was different. This was real. It was final.

“Are you sure?” he whispered, forehead against mine. He still asked. His touch was still gentle, even as his eyes were the blackest I’d ever seen them before.

Even as mine gleamed so bright, they reflected in his.

I nodded, barely able to speak. My soul was on fire. I needed him now. Immediately. “I’ve never been more sure of anything. I want you. I just want you.”

And then he obliged. gasped, nails digging into his shoulders, tears clouding my vision.

His hand cradled my neck as I threw my head back, his eyes scanning my face with concern,

“I’m okay,” I whispered, and I meant it.

Because this pain didn’t scare me. I wanted this. Him. Us.

It was the best feeling in the world.

His lips latched onto my mark as it quivered, and a wave of pleasure numbed everything else I felt.

Our bond felt like an entity now, alive and stirring, his mixing with mine.

It spread through my chest, through my veins, until I could barely tell where I ended and he began.

I wrapped my arms around his back, holding him close as the rhythm picked up. The shelves creaked. The air felt electric. The ground was cool in contrast to us.

It wasn’t perfect.

There was no bed, no music, no candles.

Just Zane.

But maybe that’s why it felt so right. Because this wasn’t some fantasy. This was ours.

“Shh,” he whispered as I groaned for more. “Slow, my love. I don’t wanna hurt you.”

I clung to him, tears rolling down my cheeks.

Zane finally slumped onto me, still kissing my neck and my jaw and my face. Not stopping. Not even for a second.
