With seconds, my head started to spin, the world blurring.
Blake’s handling of me turned gentle now, and he carefully pulled me out of the trunk, closing it.
I tried to keep my eyes open, blinking hard to clear my vision.
“Let… go…” I whispered, unsure if he could even hear me.
He placed me in his back seat now, brushing my hair away from my face, and wiping the sweat from my forehead. I wanted to pull away from his touch, but I didn’t have the strength to.
“Go to sleep,” he whispered, caressing my cheek. “It’s okay. Everything will be alright.” I felt him press a kiss to my temple, making everything within me recoil.
He finally pulled away and shut the door, taking the driving seat and starting the car again.
The movement made my head heavier, and bile rose up my chest.
I puked onto the floor of his car, and Blake glanced back, but didn’t stop.
“Go to sleep, Lia,” he said softly.
This time, I obliged, my eyelids drooping shut.
The world fell silent, but my mind didn’t.
Zane. Zane. Zane.
It kept repeating to no avail.
-ZANE’S POV-
I returned to the school, bursting through the gates in my wolf form.
I could scent Lia, but it wasn’t coming from the gym. So I followed the trail of her scent, rushing towards the girls’ washroom.
My breath caught in my throat when I came to an unconscious Warner and Sheila. I sniffed them, focusing on their heartbeats and the sound of their breath.
They were both alive, but had gunshot wounds in their chests.
The wound hissed softly.
Silver.
I was about to walk off when a tiny whimper caught my ear. It came from inside the washroom.
I stepped inside, to find Christy on the floor, her head bleeding.
Shit.
I couldn’t leave her like this. She would die.
But where was Lia?
I had to make a choice.
Growling in frustration, I changed back to my human form, lifting her up into my arms.
She woke up slightly, a small cry leaving her lips.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay,” I whispered. “It’s me, Zane.”
She blinked up at me, tears leaving her eyes.
“Li… Lia…” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Where is she, Chris?” I asked. “Who did this?”
She opened her mouth to speak, but seemed to be having trouble. I carried her to the gym, where everyone was gathered. Fellow students quickly noticed, shouting for help, pulling out their phones to call an ambulance.
“Christy!” a boy cried, running up to us. “What happened to her?”
“I found her like this in the washroom.”
I laid her down on a table, bringing my ear close to her lips.
“Bl… Blake…” she managed to say, before falling unconscious again.
I stood up straight, my eyes turning black.
The boy who knew Christy noticed, mouth parting in shock.
But I didn’t care.
I was going to kill Blake Walker.
He’d dared to join hands with The Order.
And he’d dared to come for my pack, and for my mate.
This would be the last stupid decision of his life.

-LIA’S POV-
Pain was the first thing I registered.
My head was pounding as though someone had bludgeoned it with bricks.
My eyes still felt tired, but I forced them open, wincing as the light blinded me.
“You’re up.”
I sat up at once, my heart hammering in my chest as I looked around.
I was back at Blake’s house, in his bedroom, on his bed.
But this time, thankfully, I was still clothed.
He sat in a chair beside the bed, staring at me. His eyes returned to their usual green shade.
“Are you okay?”
“You jerk!” I snapped, trying to attack him. had
But the wrist of my left hand was yanked back to the headboard.
I glanced at it, my mouth falling open.
This piece of shit had me handcuffed to the bed.
“Be careful, Lia,” Blake sighed, standing up. “I don’t want you getting hurt.”
I watched him, clenching my jaw.
“Stay away from me,” I whispered. “I swear, Blake if you touch me-“
“What will you do?” he snapped, leaning in.
I gasped, backing into the headboard.
He took my chin, tightening his grip when I tried to push his hand off.
“Still so arrogant,” he muttered, shaking his head.
“Still in love with Zane,” I replied, holding his stare.
His jaw ticked, eyes flashing red for a split second.
My heart trembled.
“Why?” Blake whispered, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
I tried to shuffle away from him, but the handcuffs made it hard to do so.
“Why him? Why not me?”
“You’re still asking that?” I scoffed.
