She was already a rare beauty, but with the alcohol in her system, the cool elegance of her face softened into a flushed, delicate charm that only made her more alluring.

Mr. Evan’s desire surged.

Seeing she still refused to obey, showing no intention of climbing onto his lap, he simply yanked her onto him by force.

“Come, Adeline. I’ll help you take these clothes off. Let’s snap a few photos first!”

His trembling hands, shaking with excitement, clawed toward her collar.

Though the drunken haze blurred her vision and weighed down her eyelids, the word “photos” jolted her awake. She shuddered violently and gathered every ounce of strength to shove him away.

“Adeline, I advise you to behave.”

Her desperate resistance darkened his triangular eyes with a sinister chill that made her scalp prickle.

He pinched her cheek mockingly. “Bad girls pay a price.”

Ignoring her struggle, he ripped open her neckline.

Though nothing indecent was exposed, the glow of her collarbones alone made his breathing turn ragged.

With a leering grin, he shoved her down into the sofa, ready to tear the rest of her top away and indulge himself.

The door slammed open.

The sudden crash froze the room.

Furious at the interruption, Mr. Evan didn’t even look back before roaring, teeth clenched, “Get the hell out!”

But something was wrong.

Normally, his friends hated being disturbed in such moments, cager to band together and teach the intruder a brutal lesson. Yet after his shout, the room fell into ceric silence.

Even the sound of Mr. Rob’s breathing at his side seemed unnervingly loud.

Police? Could it be?

But his friends weren’t the type to fear the law.

He wanted to finish ripping Adeline’s clothes, but an inexplicable dread gnawed at him. Against his will, his gaze shifted toward the doorway.

Before he could make out the intruder’s face, a sharp pain exploded across his cheek as a man rushed forward and smashed a fist into him.

“Looking for death?”

Mr. Evan had never suffered such humiliation. His lips trembled with rage as he balled his fists, ready to strike back.

But before he could throw a punch, the man seized his collar and slammed him hard to the floor.

“You blind bastards! Don’t you see someone laying hands on your boss? Tear him apart-“

He didn’t finish. His eyes locked on the man’s face.

Victor.

That flawless face, like polished jade, refined and unearthly. A gentleman unmatched in the world.

But the icy rage radiating from him was terrifying, and when Evan realized this was the second son of the wealthiest Luke family, a violent shiver wracked him.

What connection did Adeline have with Victor?

Victor had burst in just in time to see Evan tearing at her clothes.

He didn’t know why it enraged him so deeply. He and Adeline had only crossed paths twice, mere strangers. But the sight of Evan’s filthy hands on her made him burn with a murderous urge.

Cold fury radiated from him as he raised his foot and, like a reaper delivering judgment, kicked Evan savagely in his most vulnerable spot.

“Ahhhhhh!”

Evan’s scream tore through the air, shrill as a slaughtered pig.

If Victor had come alone, Evan’s men might have dared to strike back. They outnumbered him, after all. They could kill him quietly and leave no trace.

But a dozen guards stormed in behind Victor.

And in the capital, everyone knew the reputation of the Luke family’s bodyguards. Evan’s hired men were nothing but rabble in comparison.

Pain and fear crushed him. He dared not utter another threat. Instead, he broke down, groveling.

“Mr. Victor, I was wrong. I didn’t recognize your friend. I had no idea. Please, I beg you, have mercy. Don’t lower yourself to deal with a piece of filth like me…

The friends who had egged him on shrank back, trembling like quails, not daring to speak a single word.

Victor’s eyes were ice-cold, showing not the slightest trace of pity as Evan howled in pain. His foot, hard as forged steel, lashed out again at Evan’s weakest spot without mercy.

Evan cried out like a dying animal.

Even Rob and the others winced at the sight, their own stomachs twisting with phantom pain. Yet none of them dared to beg for him. They didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.

“Give them something to remember,” Victor ordered, his voice like a blade.

His gaze swept over Rob and the others, ignoring the fear and silent pleading in their eyes. hour later, send them to the police station.”

An hour.

That meant his guards were to beat them for a full hour before handing them over.

Rob nearly wet himself. He wanted to beg for mercy, but the words died in his throat when Victor turned, scooping Adeline into his arms, and left.

Victor knew Lily was frantic by now. If he kept her waiting too long, James would probably beat him to a pulp.

Carrying Adeline down the stairs, he pulled out his phone with his free hand to call Lily, reassuring her that Adeline was safe. Lily pleaded with him to take her home.

“An

It was a small request, and Victor couldn’t refuse his sister-in-law. Besides, Adeline reeked of alcohol, clearly forced into drinking. There was no way he’d let her go back alone like this.

“Adeline, where do you live?”

Victor could easily trace the properties under Greg and Holly’s names, but there were several, and he didn’t know which one they currently occupied. After settling her carefully into the back seat, he asked.

She didn’t answer. Instead, the moment their bodies parted, she suddenly clutched him tight.

All the way down the stairs, she had stayed quiet in his arms, curled up obediently. He hadn’t expected her to grab hold of him so suddenly, dragging him down into the back seat with her.

The softness beneath him made him freeze. Only then did he realize just how intimate-and inappropriate their position was.

He sat up quickly, putting space between them. He wanted to warn her not to hold onto men so casually.

But before he could speak, she pulled him into another desperate embrace.

Adeline, let go.

Her faint scent of alcohol mingled with a natural sweetness, like fruit ripening in the sun, clinging to him in a way that was dangerously intoxicating.

Victor faltered for a moment, still meaning to push her away and scold her. But then her tear- filled eyes lifted to his, shimmering with hurt.

He hated touching women. He knew she was drunk, her mind clouded, and he would never take advantage. Yet something about those red-rimmed, wounded eyes tugged painfully at his chest. He couldn’t bring himself to shove her off.

Adeline said nothing, only let her tears fall as she stared at him.

The alcohol muddled her mind, blurring the face before her. All she knew was the crushing weight in her heart.

Her own mother, Hailey, had sold her out to Rob and Evan without hesitation, just to protect her son.

She had truly considered Tracy a friend, had even supported her schooling when Tracy couldn’t afford it. She had believed in her because they both came from poor mountain villages.
