Once Grace left, Kyla Corbyn looked at the time. It was almost closing time, so she cleaned up the restaurant, closed the doors and windows, and pulled down the shutters. Taking the box of cake that Grace wanted her to give Nelson, she turned around when she suddenly received a great shock.
The next moment, the cake in her hand had fallen to the ground.
Not far from the restaurant’s door, a tall figure had stepped out of the car and was approaching her in the moonlight step by step.
His hair was still meticulously combed, and he was wearing a crisp suit. His cold and stern face gave people a sense of abstinence, while his deep and narrow eyes seemed to see through people.
When you were stared at by those eyes, others could not help but feel scared as if they were being stared at by a beast.
Now those eyes were upon her!
Kyla Corbyn only felt that the blood vessels in her body seemed to have frozen suddenly, and the only thing left was the suffocating cold!

However, only after two steps, her arm was gripped hard by a hand. “I haven’t asked you to leave yet. Where are you going?”
Kyla Corbyn stiffened and turned to meet Martin Weiss’s cold eyes. “Mr.
Weiss, you don’t seem to have the power to decide whether I can leave or not.”
He stared at her, and the air around them seemed to be oppressive. “I haven’t seen you in a few years, but you’ve become quite eloquent. Looks like you had good food in prison.”
It was a light sentence, but it made Kyla Corbyn feel like a sharp weapon had thrust into her heart.
‘Good food?
‘Does he know how hard it was for me to get a proper meal in prison?
‘Does he know that when I was pregnant with Nelson, I was afraid that I didn’t have enough to eat and the baby in my tummy would be malnourished, so I did many humiliating things in return for other people’s leftovers?
‘Does he know that after I gave birth to
Nelson, I was so hungry that I couldn’t even produce milk, so I could only let Nelson drink the crudest rice soup…
‘No, he doesn’t know any of this!’
When she was struggling with hunger, he was probably eating all sorts of delicacies while he held his beloved woman.
“Can you let go? I think we’ve said everything we needed to say in court. I went to prison just like how you wanted me to. Do you have anything else to teach me, Mr. Weiss?” said Kyla Corbyn.
Martin Weiss could not help narrowing his eyes. The woman in front of him was not as gentle as before. Instead, she seemed to have prickles all over her to keep people away.
Moreover, the words ‘let go’ from her mouth struck him harshly.
“Kyla Corbyn, do you think that after a few years in prison, you’ve paid all that you owe?” Martin Weiss said coldly.
His long fingers squeezed her arm a little tighter, bringing her closer to him.
“You’re really naive if you think so!”
Kyla Corbyn suddenly laughed. ‘Naive…
He said that I’m naive!’
He had destroyed her innocence completely!
“Martin Weiss, I never owed you anything.” She raised her chin and for once, did not escape his gaze.
No matter if she was a small woman in dire straits and no matter how embarra**ed she was, she owed him nothing!
“You don’t owe me anything?” He laughed angrily. “You owe me a life! If it wasn’t for you, how would Zoen have lost the baby in her belly?”
However, she laughed even louder until tears came to her eyes!

She was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for wounding with intent.
Three and a half years in prison and he still said that she owed him a life!
“Mr. Weiss, how many years do you want me to stay in prison for? Five years? Ten years? Or 20 years… Or life imprisonment?” Kyla Corbyn said to him sarcastically.
Martin Weiss’s face darkened. “Enough!”
He did not like her laughter and sarcasm.
It was as if he was the one in the wrong.
Besides, this was no place for conversation, and there was something about her he wanted to find out!
Thinking of this, Martin Weiss led Kyla Corbyn to a car not far away.
Kyla Corbyn immediately struggled. “Martin Weiss, let go! What are you trying to do?”
“I won’t let go!” he said coldly. All her struggling seemed so useless to him.
“Kyla Corbyn, it took me a long time to find you. Tell me, do you think I’ll let go of you so easily?
She felt a pang in her heart, and her eyes fell on his handsome profile. It was so cold and heartless.
Suddenly, she was somewhat flustered.
‘What kind of price does this man want me to pay again? Can I really take Nelson and escape from this man safely?’
Kyla Corbyn was taken by Martin Weiss to his hotel room in Emerald City.
It was the top presidential suite in
Emerald City. If it was in the past, she might not even be qualified to enter!
Kyla Corbyn was calm now and no longer struggled as before.

I agree with Mary Vanessa , with one point altered , Before she leaves she needs to help Kyla. She needs a new start somwhere else and to find herself again ,but also have one last honest conversation with Brian and Jason to clear all lies and secrets. But the timing of the breakup is lame .

Jason takes actions in his own hands he should understand that every individual have their own freedom and Grace tries to uncovered the secrets with her own ability when she knows Jason can easily find it. They both lied to each other with good intentions by hiding their secrets from one another will save the damages but in reality it double the damages. The only problems is Jason have high ego that he don’t want to listen to anyone and want to control everyone including Grace and Grace lack on trusting people again she feels it’s useless to explain if they don’t want to listen which is actually correct. The traumas they faced in the past leads them to their breakups but if they are honest to each other especially if Jason just love her and never show how possessive he is towards her there will be no breakup. I just wish the best for them and to be back together with the lessons they learnt to trust and be open to each other. Kyla Crobyn is really miserable, Martin should first dig the skeletons in Pansy closet too to know the truth rather than persecuted and torture Kyla. I hope Kyla will find happiness, get Justice and Martin will learn the truth…

Both Jason and Martin seemingly are heartless. They don’t care the feelings of a woman. If I were Grace I leave the Emerald City and find job in other place to completely forget all her sufferings. Maybe they can join force with Kayla. Lily will have to stay at Emerald City as her parents needs her care. Just thinking out loud.
Jason is too insecure for my liking and insecure people act irrationally. I am only afraid of Grace might encounter danger in that place she hired. She will soon discover Jason’s role in her sentence and imprisonment. Two-faced man!
